Let us hope Wayward Realms can achieve the same level of recognition as Baldurs Gate 3. The game industry has changed for the better, returning to old school Dungeons and Dragons 1990s Rpgs.
Definitely a change for the better... I am sure that it will eventually be one of the best RPGs of the Decade... Hyperbolic I know but I do believe in it. It's something SO many people want but No one is even attempting it except Once Lost Games

Alot of potential, and judging by the interviews and progress updates they have put alot of thought into various mechanics and their consequences. If they can make the virtual GM offer up content of a great variety and if the writing and mechanics all come together this might be fucking amazing.
for sure... it is a big if but they believe they can do it and after spending alot of time talking with them i believe they can do it as well... THat's not to say I am certain, but I think the vision has a good chance of being realized to a successful degree
I’ve had this on my wishlist for many years. I remember all they had at the beginning was a drawing of a knight overlooking a grand view of the fantasy world. In the article they spoke of the grand rpg and that it would be massive and hardcore. I’m an 80’s gamer and am excited for this. I pledged on Kickstarter what I could.😊

We must get to dwarfs! I think if we get to the original goal in a week, the 2nd stretch goal could be reachable by the end (keeping in mind that most funding in projects happen at the beginning and the end. I guess other goals are possible but it would really be hard to predict at this point.
yeah... I think we have a really good chance at the first stretch goal and a good chance at the second.... I'm afraid Gobbos and Co-op are almost definitely out of reach.... hopefully I am wrong
@@Lorespire That's why it's important to spread the word. There are a lot of people this project would resonate with who simply don't know it exists. Thanks for making these videos.
the moment i saw the archer shoot out the lantern i went to the kickstarter and backed. daggerfall and thief is the combination ive always said ive wanted to make myself.
NICE! Awesome to have you backing it with the rest of us. You should join the Once Lost Games Discord if that is your kind of thing. There are alot of fans there discussing the game and the devs show up pretty regularly to answer questions and sometimes explain how parts of the development are going
"pin-up" is a genre of art made up mostly of scantily clad women in provocative poses, starting in the late 19th and early 20th century, and still semi popular today. think marilyn monroe! that point in the stretch goals is most likely referring to art of the godesses in this style as extra content :)
I hope they make sure to keep full ownership of the game or else all of this would be pointless as their vision will be destroyed and there will not be a second game even if this one is successful
Your concern here is spot on. The Devs realize this which is why they have turned to Kickstarter so the fans can help them create teh game. OLG has already turned down multiple Publishers that wanted them to stray from their vision for the Way6wayrd Realms. That is the biggest reason it has been in development for so long - They won't compromise their vision. This successful Kickstarter and all that it provides will give OLG the Leverage they need to find a publisher that will not dictate terms or require them to compromise on what TWR is meant to be
Alchemy would be great to have but but playing through the game with a friend is a lot of fun… there isn’t an online requirement or anything like that and what they are planning for multiplayer IF it does happen is a super light drop in drop out mode that doesn’t really affect the game at all before or after the additional player is there
Not sure what's hardcore about this, neither daggerfall nor morrowind I'd define as hardcore, and this looks very similar. I suppose people got too used to streamlined ARPGs.
I suppose everyones Idea of hardcore is different... going back to classic RPG concepts that most AAA games these days have left behind in favor of wide shallow systems seems hardcore to me... maybe if you learn more about it you'll agree. or maybe not
@@Lorespire yeah, I did go back and look it up. It still doesn't sit right with me though, with how many games never get out of early access; and their banking on a publisher seeing what they make and greenlighting the whole show. For now I'm going to be patient.
As interesting as this all sounds, it seems the scope is way too big for a studio's first game. Might back just to show support for this type of rpg but I'm not expecting a finished product honestly.
That's fair. Hopefully the fact that the lead developers have experience with developing games of similar scope, such as Daggerfall, helps them with realizing this game's potential
It might be the first game of the "studio", but it is not the first game they ever made, since there are people who came from the elder scrolls series involved. They are not new to the industry, and I am not worried about delivering the game, but rather how the gameplay will be, since they aim for the oldschool daggerfall experience with modern technology.
Well the scope game wise is just daggerfall, a game from the 90s, with modern elements and improvements. From two of the lead devs that worked on daggerfall. But if you mean the scope in terms of founding that is fair, they did not even want to do kickstarter but there was a down turn in publisher founding in recent years in the gaming industry...so they did the kickstarter just to show a proof of concept so they can actually deliver on a more feature complete game that does what daggerfall did and more all those years ago rather than just a tech demo. You could be right in terms of final product, but a playable proof concept is probably going to happen, they are already 69% of their goal for that. Hope you are wrong that no publisher will show interest after that.
I disagree with you for pretty much all of the reasons these people have stated but I do appreciate you still being willing to back the project... Just keep an eye on it. I think it might end up surprising you
My only issue with this game is it's all female pantheon. Even in our supposed "Patriarchy", we have both men and women gods, representing what they excell at... Men would be strong and resilient and rule destructive elements, while women would be gentile and fair and govern emotions and healing., (you know, masculine and feminine represented beautifully, completing each other, instead of stealing qualities and competing with each other...) Here, we have a skinny orc lady representing the god of strength and warrios? Why? Don't get me wrong, i absolutely love women in general and have no problem with them ruling and being gods....when it makes sense....but here it just doesn't.... Orcs are supposed to be overly masculine, not betas ruled by women......
