- Here we use the 1855 and the new Holland 855 round Baler to bale hay.

That was cool . I've never seen one of those chain type New Holland balers at work.
They’re definitely a mechanical wonder. The older one used floor chains to help keep the bale moving but this one has a large drum. As far as interesting balers I’ve always wanted an AC Rotobaler. Totally unpractical from a handling standpoint but Those things are a mechanical marvel if you’ve ever seen one work.

Usually if it’s the last bale I leave it on the baler so I don’t have to pick it up later.

Wow Ross, you were moving around that field. (My buddy has a brand new JD round baler - don't remember the model number) but he can bale at 9 mph! Crazy. Yours is only the second NH baler I've seen with the chains inside rather than belts (or rollers like my old Gehl has). Jacob Boehm has one of those chain models too. Looks like it works pretty well. 👍👍👍👍
It does work pretty well. I have several maintenance items to do on it one of these days when I have nothing else to do haha.

But your baling to fast, if you have 5 gears than go low 4 or high 1 that's the right baleing speed
I have 18 forward speeds, so basically I’m in 15th gear and when the bale is full I’m in 13th. Works great.
Those balers weren’t the best but they got the job done.
The thing is they’ll bake almost anything. You can bale sticks if you feed them in. Lol
You know you don’t have to shut the pto off when you eject a bale right? I never had to on my 855 baler it helps kick the bale out as well so you shouldn’t have to back up either just giving you a heads up buddy!
Yup it shuts the chain off when you open the door. But I still shut it off the second the string cuts. And I back up because on an incline the bale will roll back into the baler. It’s just easier to get into the habit of it and I’ve never had any problems.
Had a 853 the bale wouldn't come out unless you left the PTO running and the apron chain would reverse.
Does that 855 have air bags for bale tension?
Yes. They started leaking this year so sometime soon I’m going to have to replace them.
@@rosstheoliverman I run a belt round baler, 484 New Idea. These chainers have always intrigued me. I will own one some day. Those last chain balers with the air bags made some of the best bales. New Holland even put net wrap on the last ones. Boehm farms have one they use.
