I do not want to get polemical here, but if you watch this video, realize that this is one of the few loud and proud disciples of Karl Rahner left in English-speaking Catholicism. Her criticisms of Balthasar make a lot of sense in that context, but conversely a follower of Balthasar could say that her way is overly academic, rationalistic, and very possibly a "sitting theology". Also, a lay theologian referring to contraception and the ordination of women as merely controversial topics within the Church it's something Balthasar would have a field day with!

My right ear didn‘t hear any reasons why I should study Balthasar

Von Balthasar was at the council and was one of 3 influential dissenters after the council . He could have been a professor but didn’t want to . He also declined being a cardinal twice until Pope JP2 insisted , he died before getting to Rome . This is a man who kept his holy hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament which explains the conviction of his views . You’re aha! Moments never come from
Bye way of texts , they come from the Holy Spirit the Paraclete.

If you’re right about all that then you’re actually more expert than this lady. I’m amazed you look like a normal person.
I’m going back to all the thinkers that influenced a friend of mine who died recently because I miss him. I regret having disappointed him because I wasn’t diligent enough to read everything he was excited about. But I’m getting ideas and motivation to read from listening to scholars on TH-cam
Easter was a big day for us

One can map a pretty _plausible_ _outline_ of the 'whole' and still doesn't 'require' the veneration of a _saint_ .
Introducing the modern mind that grew up with _literary_ _ideas_ to the surprisingly _differentiated_ _depth_ of *patristic* *thought* (Origenes, Pseudo-Aeropagitas, the Cappadocians, Maximos) appears to be the vocation of von Balthasar. 'Bouncing ideas' with other people is quite _good_ _enough_ .

Von Balthazar’s teachings are based on the mystic he promoted Adrienne Von speyr and especially on her version of the decent into Hell by Jesus which is contrary to the council of Trent which says Jesus descended into the paradise of the bosom of Abraham the hell of waiting, and Bishop challenor wrote on this too, St. John of the cross warned of trusting in mysticism.

Amazing how good her critique of the man and work are compared to Dr Taylor Marshall who clearly has an agenda to marginalize Balthazar.
