      You would be making a massive mistake by doing that. Tudor doesn’t hold a candle to Rolex. While a watch isn’t an investment item, the Rolex will hold much better value if not appreciate.

    • @Saltlife2182
      @Saltlife2182 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@CaptainCreampie69 why would that be a mistake? What makes the Rolex worth $8k+? Rolex charges what they do because people pay that. The watch tells time, that is all. Rolex will continue to up their prices and corner the market as long as individuals purchase them. Also Rolex is a non-profit, so they are making money hands over fist.

    I have the LHD version and the fact that "Pelagos" is in red helps to break up the lines of text. Plus, it reminds me of the Red Submariner, which is a watch I could never afford/justify buying.

    Shout out to Brent L. Miller, their shop in downtown Lancaster, PA is the first place I ever heard of Tudor watches. As a senior in college, I went in to lust after a Rolex Kermit (which I couldn't afford) and was introduced to the Hydronaut (which didn't do it for me). Long time ago now, but the folks there were very professional and treated my kindly even though they knew I wasn't going to be buying anything.

    I went watch shopping in June '20. there were no rolex sports watches at the AD. I was introduced to the TUDOR. I checked out the PELAGOS BLUE. I likes it. went home, and a month later - I returned to purchase my first nice watch. I did buy the TUDOR PELAGOS BLUE. the 'blue' is wonderful. the LUM - fabulous. and it was about 1/2 $$ of the rolex.

    @riservaditempo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The Pelagos is probably the king of the modern tool. I don't even see it as a "I don't have enough for a Submariner" watch. Realistically most people aren't going to use a Rolex Submariner as a tool watch anymore, the values are too high and they are just too collectable. I mean you could, but it is not the norm. I used my 16610 this way for over ten years, however I would hate to lose or destroy that watch given the scarcity of Submariners these days. The Pelagos fills that gap and its less flashy so you can worry less about theft on your travels. The lume is sick and the tech on the movement appears to be pretty damned good, even had a greater power reserve than the pre-41mm Subs.

    • @Johnny641
      @Johnny641 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, I have a 16610 just in for service now, just over 10 years old and when it comes back it will be kept just for best , thinking about the Pelagos for those reason, a really nice waatch I can wear all the time and not be worried.

    A great balanced review Bruce! The good, the not so good warts n all review. I really do like the Pelagos, it's a tool watch yes but it also has an underlying style, the snowflake hands and hour plots, the sculpted chapter ring and that lume is fantastic. It's also very light for a 'big' watch with one of the bracelets of well nearly any bracelet. As for the table of contents plastered on the front, the LHD version has the Pelagos in red that sort of reduces it. Strangely I liked the LHD so much I now have one.

      @@BruceWilliams I think you made the right choice. I have tried many times to buy the blue Pelagos, but the look of the blue ceramic ruins it for me. Maybe I'll get the left hand drive version someday.

  • @khronokraze

    I like the Pelagos. They haven't done much with this in a while and they only have this in black and blue. Do you think it's due for a new color option? Or, are just black and blue good enough?
    And, do you think there snowflake hands set AND dial should be reserved for the Pelagos or could or should the bb58 use the complete snowflake look? If not as regular option, perhaps as a special or limited edition?
    Great dance intro choreography , btw.

    I haven't seen anyone make a comparison between the Tudor Pelagos and the Omega Planet Ocean with the orange rubber insert in the ceramic bezel. Wondering if you would be the first?

    Great video. I personally like the short form essay of text on the matte black dial I think it brings your eyes to the watch from across the room. We all know what rotor self winding means but to be honest a lot of everyday people do not. They might see it and it gives to a chance to explain what it is, or what a chronometer is. There are plenty of minimalist dive watches out there with a cleaner dial, like it or not the Pelagos has this distinctive look and I think it help sets it aside.
    Also directed at Brad the Tudor dealer In Lancaster PA. How many members of the Amish mafia do you sell watches to on a regular basis ? I know they need to flex

      I so agree , i think at the beginning you had a few watch reviewers say it and everyone else just runs with it !
      .it wears the badge of being COSC certified (only 3 % have this ) proudly and i don't see what the big hype is . If i had any gripe with the watch , it would b using grade 2 titatium

  • @kk7sm

    That intro was such a surprise, I'm almost speechless! I think the Pelagos is more a counterpart to the Sea Dweller than the Submariner, so maybe not the best comparison there. You're welcome to compare with my DeepSea some time, but the DeepSea is sort of like if you took this Pelagos and fed it too much steroids. I think this Tudor would be a better daily driver than the DeepSea. The DeepSea lives in my safe (why did I write basement?) and I wear a Planet Ocean on a NATO as a daily driver. They're all great watches - I will have to try a Pelagos on the wrist some day. But not to buy one - I am trying to diversify and right now, I have no room for another diver. LOL!
    Edited to add: There's a shop in Draper that does dive certifications. Maybe one day, I'll actually recertify. I haven't dived since I was stationed in Hawaii in the Army. :-)

    I have a black Pelagos and I really love it. Amazing watch and mine runs +2sec/day. The only downside is that the lume markers won’t stay long in ceramic bezel. I had a bezel marker that fell off in March 2020 and Tudor replaced the bezel for free under warranty but in the long term I believe it will be a common problem. I feel tempted to buy as well the blue dial/bezel :)

    It is a great watch no doubt. I like the general aesthetic of it. The thing for me I can't get past is the snowflake dial combined with the square indices. Overall it becomes a little too blocky. Like Tetris style blocky.

    • @nickj9078
      @nickj9078 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Myself, I actually like it for that very reason where the snowflake hand matches the square indices. Prefer that over other Tudor Black Bay watches with the square snowflake hand and round indices.

    Great review of the Pelagos Bruce! I agree with all your positives and the (minor) negatives you describe. I have the LHD version and it is a sensational watch. One aspect which you do mention that still amazes me is the accuracy of the movement. I also have the Omega AT with the calibre 8900 and in my hands the Tudor movement if far more accurate than the METAS certified Omega. Don' t get me wrong, the Omega movement is great and within spec but the Tudor is so much more accurate.

    Had this watch on last week using the bezel as a fidget spinner while waiting for the doctor to enter the room. He can here the bezel clicks from the hallway and comes in looking for what is making the noise. Not sure if he thought there was a bomb or what. At any rate the bezel action is great and the clicks are obviously loud and crisp.

    Have had the blue Pelagos for about half a year. Just did a 5 day check. 6 seconds slow. Not bad. I like heft, and it's heavy enough. I just got a Sinn U50 and that may take some wrist time from the Pelagos, we'll see. Well, after I replace the clasp springbar I lost in the carpet first thing out of the box 🥴

    I'd narrowed down my choice (back in July), between this, and the Omega SMP 300, (my local dealer had both) but in the end, the easily scratched titanium, put me off,,
    In fact, I'd prefer the U50 before this Pelagos..(now)
    Anyway, I'm absolutely loving my SMP,,

    This is my top of the line NEED watch. I have had some nice ones (Omega Speedmaster Man On The Moon) among others. Currently, I have a beautiful Fortis B42 Cosmonaut, a Glycine Combat, and a Gevril Yorkville that appears to be an homage to the Tudor Pelagos. Btw, I can highly recommend the Gevril Yorkville! No doubt my next, and probably last watch will be the Pelagos. Great watch.
