Got my iPad mini (1) back in 2014. But until now after watching your video I didn't know about Active Touch. Well I have seen the slider but did not know about the extra function and the extra Home Button.
The original Home Button broke down. So hopefully your trick did it.

The method to clear RAM cache did not work on my iPad Mini 2. It just acted like it pressed the home button once
Edit: tried just using the home button instead of the AssistiveTouch feature and it worked.
