    Great stuff! "Tremors": "here are some bullets and swiss cheese." My favorite line. I worked in a video store, first two years in college, 87-89, and remember when "The Blob" was released; it's really gory and I have one of the Blu Ray releases; it's really something else. We used to get press kits from the studios on the new releases and kept a few of them...they were great, a time long gone now. The Godfather restorations have severe issues: too much DNR, fiddling with brightness and contrast levels.

    Hey Fuzz! Glad to be supporting the Channel.
    I was wondering what are your thoughts on buying physical media in the secondary market? Since Sales reports only refer to the sale of new discs from companies, I wondered if purchasing used discs would be much less beneficial to the Physical Media Sector than buying a new disc. Thanks!

    • @TheOriginalFuzz
      @TheOriginalFuzz  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Personally, I don't have a problem with the secondary market. I sometimes will take to eBay myself if I can't find what I'm looking for from the major retail outlets like Amazon or Walmart. I don't think the secondary market really hurts anything, in terms of the physical media arena as a whole. When it comes to 4K especially, I personally prefer to buy titles new wherever possible. But sometimes I'll go to eBay if it's an out-of-print edition or a harder to find title. But for most major releases, I usually just buy new from Amazon.
      That said, this stuff isn't cheap. So I absolutely encourage people to take to the secondary market if they can save a little money on a used title and if they're looking to bulk up their collection without spending an arm and a leg. I tend to buy blu rays more from the secondary market than I do 4K discs, because 4K discs can be really sensitive and I get a little nervous about used copies (one of the reasons I buy so many 4Ks from Amazon is because of their easy, flexible return policy). But blu-rays aren't as sensitive and don't have as much info on the disc, so I have been known to buy used blu rays from eBay.
      But if you can find a good deal on a title on the secondary market, definitely take advantage of it. Nothing wrong with saving yourself a little money!
      Hey thanks so much again for your support. I appreciate you watching and chiming in!

      @mrb0775 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      AudiophileTommy, to me personally, the movie sections of the 2 Best Buy stores that are near our house, will definitely be missed. But over the past 3 years during the 1 to 2 times a month I visited the Blu-ray/4K Blu-ray sections of those stores, a disturbing reality became clearer & clearer to me, which was that I belonged to a very tiny minority of Americans (at least, of the Americans in NE Ohio) who still had any interest in shopping for movies on disc at Best Buy! Because whether I visited a BB movie section on a weekday evening, or on a Saturday afternoon, the sad aspect of my visit was that I was usually the only person looking at movies
      during the half hour I was there, or one other person, or occasionally a couple, or pair of friends might quickly take a look at a few movies before leaving that area of the store. And the few people I did see in BB movie sections during the last 3 years, were almost always seen leaving the movie area empty handed after their
      very brief period of browsing.
      Long story short, AudiophileTommy, I think that even if we, along with 100% of our fellow movie fans who enjoyed selecting & buying movies from BB's movie sections, ALL took part in a boycott of Best Buy stores, that company would barely notice the small fraction of 1% of Best Buy's monthly sales volume that such a boycott would cause. Because I have to admit that among all the people
      I know, there's not anyone (besides myself) who buys movies on disc anymore.
      That's why when a friend, or a family member, 1st visits our basement's theater room, he or she seems shocked (or just amazed) at catching sight of the room's right side wall, with its built in shelves holding 1,182 movies on Blu-ray & 4K Blu-ray, in 2 fully alphabetical sections, & a 3rd section of about 750 movies on DVD (also in alphabetical order). And all those movie discs are in their original cases that their manufacturers provided for them.
      Anyhow, people who weren't familiar with my personal addiction to fine movies,
      or to so many movies that are just downright entertaining or exciting, must often have thoughts like "He's sure poured many thousands of dollars into buying a lot of movies that he'll probably only watch once!" And that's actually true regarding
      a lot of movies I first saw on disc, but is NOT true about many favorites, such as
      The Bridge On The River Kwai (1 movie IMO that helps define what a Great film is) One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Psycho, Tombstone, Schindler's List, Apocalypse Now, Papillon, Arthur, The Godfather & Godfather II, On The Waterfront, The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre, Casablanca, No Country For Old Men, Ace In The Hole, Airplane, The French Connection, Carlito's Way, Sunset Boulevard, Jaws, There's Something About Mary, The Haunting (1963 original), Scarface (1983 version) The Thing (1982 version), Spartacus, Where's Poppa, Lawrence of Arabia, Saving Private Ryan, Alien, Halloween, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, to name just a few.

    Hey Fuzz. Another great selection of 4k videos. Very smart calling them Demo worthy. I plan on purchasing the Mission Impossible movies on 4k some time in the near future. Your review help decide that. Lol. Honestly I have never sat and watched any of them, but own the first 5 on DVD. I won't even waste my time with them and go straight to 4k. So many people give me a hard time for never watching them. Lol. I also plan on picking up Tremors. One of my all time favorite movies. I wasn't a big fan of the Hulk, but really enjoyed the Incredible Hulk and it looks very nice on 4k and also sounds great. Loved seeing Ambulance on this list. Maybe one day 6 Underground will get a 4k release. No doubt it would look amazing. I wanted to also mention a new band I just recently discovered thanks to TH-cam. I thought I would bring it up based on your new channel member from Australia. The Southern River Band. Have you heard of them? If you haven't you should definitely check them out.

      Hi Dwayne! Thanks so much. I will definitely check out that Aussie band... appreciate the recommendation, since I'm a big music guy. I always enjoy discovering a great new band. As for movies, yes I think you'll really like the Mission Impossible movies. The first one was directed by Brian De Palma, and even that one is good, but they definitely get better and better as they progress through the series (at least up through Fallout). And they do look awesome on 4K! All that great stunt work just leaps off the screen. Also, I totally agree about The Incredible Hulk... in fact it's actually one of my favorite Marvel films. I think they screwed up getting rid of Edward Norton. He was awesome in the role! I'm working on a new video as we speak re: live-action superhero films, and that one is definitely on my list to mention. Oh and I also really want to see 6 Underground get a release. I thought that movie was a blast! Netflix in general needs to release more on 4k. They release very few titles. I'd like to see the Zack Snyder movies get released too.
      Thanks for weighing in, Dwayne - Great to see ya!

    Tremors was already great on HD-DVD, as far as I remember it. High amount of grain, what I really like. That's what I'm a bit afraid about with the new remasters on 4K, for instance of Aliens. Mostly all grain is gone. Removing grain reduces the data size of a stream. In my eyes they can do it for streaming users with filters and frame enhancing enabled (they don't care about the original look. it just has to pop). I like to have a "stuttering and grainy cinema look" in the highest possible quality.

    • @TheOriginalFuzz
      @TheOriginalFuzz  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The thing is, every film is different in terms of how it is restored and treated. So I'd advise against comparing one film restoration to another (especially when one of them is a Jameron restoration). The James Cameron films are a unique situation where they were restored with a relatively new, propriety deep learning software. And they look exactly the way Cameron wants them to look -- very clean with grain reduction, while still retaining the detail. But Arrow Video (who released Tremors on 4K) doesn't use that same process for their restorations. The 4K of Tremors looks incredible... and I have no doubt it absolutely blows away that old HD-DVD. You still see grain and the filmic look, but also an unprecedented level of detail, depth and pop. Now, I don't really pay much attention to streaming, because I think streaming is total crap and can never deliver the kind of results a comparable-resolution disc will. But I highly recommend the Tremors 4K disc. What I've noticed about 4K overall is that you tend to see more of the film's natural grain structure because of the increased resolution. Aliens is not like most 4K releases of older movies shot on film.

    I wanted to know your opinion. I'm planning to make an order on Gruv with their 3 for $45 with 20% off first order. These are some I'm for sure getting but the last few um I'm uncertain if I should get or just wait.
    Blade runner
    Mad max fury road
    Jaws
    Dr. Sleep
    2001 space odyssey
    These are the one I'm not sure
    Batman collection 80-90
    Inception
    Poltergeist
    Enter the dragon
    What is your opinion? Or should I wait and see if they go cheaper?

      I think $15 per 4K disc (with a 20 percent discount on top of that) is a pretty damn good deal as far as 4Ks go, especially in this economy with inflation and everything. That's like $12 per title. They don't usually get too much lower than that (aside from a few occasional $10 discs). So yeah, you may want to take advantage of it. Of the ones you're not sure about, the only one I have is Poltergeist, and it is really good on 4K. Great-looking image. It's got that wonderful Spielberg suburban America feel, combined with Hooper's quirkiness. And it all translates really well to 4K.
      That Batman collection, is that an animated set? I'm not familiar with it. Also, since I noticed you're getting Dr. Sleep, I assume you already have The Shining on 4K? If not, that is definitely one I'd recommend picking up. Excellent 4K (although Dr. Sleep is no slouch either). Great choices otherwise (on the ones you know you're getting).

      @@tdubpinoy13 Oh ok - Gotcha! In that case, I do have the two Michael Keaton movies on 4K as stand-alone releases, and they are also excellent on the format. Great transfers. If I remember right, I think it's Batman Returns that looks especially good on 4K. I haven't seen the other two.

      @@tdubpinoy13 Me personally, Poltergeist... but that's just my tastes. I have the other movies on blu ray, but I've not really felt the need to upgrade them. Plus Poltergeist just looks awesome on the format. And there's even an epilepsy/seizure warning on the Poltergeist 4K due to all the rapid bright flashes of light. But it looks really cool once it gets going.

      @TheOriginalFuzz  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well considering the primary focus of this channel is centered around action, horror and sci-fi films on physical media, yeah... high-body-count movies are going to be a pretty frequent occurrence here.

    I say this with much respect; you need to expand your soundfield to one that supports Dolby Atmos. You owe it to yourself to do this. I won't elaborate any further. You have a great channel. Atmos is a MUST in my opinion.

    • @TheOriginalFuzz
      @TheOriginalFuzz  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think I kind of have an idea of how good it can sound... We do have a slick Dolby Cinema theater not too far away that has Atmos, and it does sound pretty awesome, especially when paired with the big screen. I don't get out to movies in the theater much, but when I do, I always try to see the movie in that particular room. Recently saw Dune 2 there and it was killer!
      Eventually I probably will invest in an Atmos set-up. It's not very practical for the space we're in right now, so it will likely be a few years before the next audio upgrade happens. But I have noticed the Atmos mixes always sound great on my 5.1 system (when I'm able to watch movies with it). At the same time, I can recognize the limitations of the 5.1 setup. I'm gradually starting to pine for a few more speakers, just to fill things out a bit more. LMAO!😆😉 Thanks for weighing in and watching!

    Face/Off 4k , Why should us in the uk buy this when the blu-ray is Region Locked .

    • @TheOriginalFuzz
      @TheOriginalFuzz  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well that's up to you. I can only speak for myself. But the 4k is not region locked (4K is largely a region-free format), and presumably that's what you would be buying the title for primarily. You would only need to access the locked blu-ray to view special features (which, there aren't very many of). That said, personally I invested in a multi-region player for blu-rays because I didn't like being limited by region (there's too much good stuff out there to limit myself to only the U.S.). But the only time that's really a factor for me is in watching special features, because something like 98-99 percent of all 4Ks are region free.

    • @tjdw5251
      @tjdw5251 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Because the UK has no 4k release. The UK blu-ray looks awful. The UK blu-ray also has NO special features. The 4k is region free, and although the special features are on the region locked blu-ray, because the UK blu-ray already has no special features it means that you are gaining a far superior transfer of the film and losing nothing.

      Yeah I wasn't really expecting it to be as good as the previous few films... the last few set a pretty high bar. To each their own but "worst" as a descriptor seems a little heavy handed. Not my favorite either but this franchise as a whole is one of the best ever. Like Fuzz said, the bar is high, not all can share the same tier. IMHO 😁

    Hi
    Enjoying the video.
    As for " Star Trek" that are generally great Fiona and especially the three new " kelvin timeline " get great pictures and sound quality reviews "..
    As for the six og box set , there are Two horrible and super slow badly written ones and four great."
    The motion picture IMHO was slow and overblown, you only have to see that over spent with £46 million and hardly made a profit,YET they made Wrath of Karn and Search for Spock for Only $28 million for Both and still had half the money for voyage home.
    So 2 1/2 films for the cost of the original.
    Can't believe that most people's favourite " wrath of Khan " cost only 12 million, I think they learnt a lesson from blowing $46 million on ST 1.
    Cinema is subjective but IMHO I hate motion picture and " final Frontier " very slow and poorly written especially final frontier...
    In an Empire magazine voyage home came out on top.
    Seems people love time travel and the comedy elements of the crew back in the 80 s.
    Anyway I enjoy your channel,may not always agree but that's what makes a love of film great.
    Personally I love science fiction from 2001 to Annihilation and Deus machina.
    Don't own even one James Cameron film Die Hard or Arnie film lol.
    I know a major sin but Just prefer a cerebral ???? Film to a pop corn film.
    But what ever floats your boat.
    I have about 500 UHD film and 300 blu ray.
    I don't automatically buy 4K as some 4K films don't improve on the blu ray.
    Thanks 🙏 👍✌️✌️
