    I honestly don't know what my Top 25 movies would be. I have so many. I would have to definitely think about it. This would be a good community thread for the physical media content creators.

      Awesome! Thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah there were so many movies that I had a hard time choosing between, because I feel like I appreciate them all equally, you know? So for some titles, it was a little challenging trying to figure out which ones might make the top 25 vs. the top 50. So the more I think about it, I'm thinking I will definitely do that... even just for my own curiosity (to see what the final result is after all my pondering lol). Thanks for watching man!

    Great list, Fuzz and a fun watch as always! I actually own all of your top 25 movies so you have great taste😉 I love and own movies across all genres and time going back to the silents era(thank you, Kino Lorber!!), but heavily weighted toward action, horror, and romance. For my top films, i tend towards those that are very emotionally impactful to me and also rewatchability is a huge plus. The only one of your list i couldn't get into was Close Encounters. I bought the 4K version having never seen the film and it just wasn't made for me, though it is obviously a very well made movie. As far as Die Hard goes, i actually love the first 4 about equally and someone could throw any of those in at random and i would be a very happy camper. i think Die Hard 2 may be one of the most unfairly maligned sequels in film history. Love Bill Sadler in anything and he was a great villain in DH2. Anyway, i am sure my list would probably be soundly mocked by most movie buffs but this is my top ten.
    1.Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    2. It's a Wonderful Life
    3. Silver Linings Playbook
    4. The Lord of the Rings
    5. Ikiru
    6. Big Trouble in Little China
    7. Whiplash
    8. Casablanca
    9. Shawshank Redemption
    10. Alita Battle Angel

      Thanks so much! Great to see you again! Glad to hear you enjoyed the list. I'll be the first to admit there are certain genres I don't really get into as much, but I've got big respect for those who have diverse tastes in movies. As for Close Encounters, I grew up with that one, so I have a bit more nostalgia for it. But I can totally understand how it might not be for everyone. Totally agree with you about Die Hard 2... Sadler was awesome in it. I think it's a decent follow-up, and I always enjoy watching it every year around the holidays. Thanks for sharing your Top 10. Shawshank almost made my Top 25... it was very close. Love that film... saw it in the theater when it first came out. Also, I just watched Whiplash about 2 weeks ago for the first time with my son (who's a drummer). Fantastic film!! Thanks for weighing in!

    I own the Star Wars de-specialized editions on Blu Ray and they don’t look great, but I like seeing what the unaltered scenes look like cut in. The special features may be my favorite parts of the de-specialized editions and I didn’t know that they were available on 4K though.

    • @TheOriginalFuzz
      @TheOriginalFuzz  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I think there are a couple different 4K restorations going around from different sources. It's kind of confusing to me, so I need to do a bit more research on it to find out what's what and how to get it. It would've been nice if Lucas had had the foresight to recognize the limits of what of what he was doing with all the CGI. What may have been considered a bit more state-of-the-art at the time the visual effects were created now looks a bit dated and doesn't mix all that well with the original in-camera practical sets, set pieces, etc. Anyway thanks for the feedback. I've definitely been curious about the de-specialized editions and the more recent emergence of unaltered 4K versions.

    Yea, I'll admit, Return of the Jedi is the only one from the Star Wars trilogy that's not in my top 25, in all fairness it wasn't nearly as good as the 1st 2, so I don't feel it's fair to cheat like that, but whatever you felt. I see you started this video recently, I recently discovered my top 25 and that's why I've been looking @ other people's, but yeah, it was hard to put together. Right now I'm thinking about putting some honorable mentions, but I'm not sure yet whether they're exactly the next movies after 25, but I'm just debating if I'll temporarily put them in there. • @TheOriginalFuzz
      @TheOriginalFuzz  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's great to hear! Thanks so much for watching. There are multiple editions of True Romance in 4K from Arrow. They did like two different types of chunky LE box sets, and they did also put out a "special edition" (i.e. standard edition) 4K for this title. I think my box set is out of print now, but the special editions 4K's should be out there.
      In fact, here are a couple Amazon options for you, if interested. The first one is the all-region special edition 4K (amaray case). It's about $30: www.amazon.com/True-Romance-UHD-Blu-ray-4K/dp/B09GJHSPHV
      The second one is a limited edition rigid "chunky" box set (no steelbook, just an amaray case inside the slipcase). It's $38: www.amazon.com/True-Romance-Limited-4K-Ultra/dp/B09X1X2S7G
      That's a pretty good price for an LE box set. Might be worth taking advantage of if you'd like something a little extra special for this title. It's a great-looking 4K.

      @TheOriginalFuzz  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I was revisiting The Rock myself just last night after I got done editing this video. Made me want it on 4K even more. such a damn good film. Easily Michael Bay's best.
      Almost Famous is so good... but it's a different kind of movie, of course. More of a slice-of-life music odyssey about this kid who gets a break writing for Rolling Stone magazine and following this fictional band on tour, getting a crash course on the reality of touring and life behind the scenes. I think it's semi-autobiographical... inspired by how Cameron Crowe got his start as a music journalist before becoming a film director. But if you've seen any of Cameron Crowe's previous films (notably, "Say Anything" or "Singles," etc.), then this is very much in his signature style and has many of his trademarks. But I think Almost Famous is his best film. Really great story and characters. If you're a music fan at all, you'll probably really dig it.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Crowe's work. But I'll start with this film (Almost Famous). For me I grew up watching Rockstar starring Mark Wahlberg. Yeah it was definitely harder than I thought it would be. What I found was the top 10 was pretty easy, but once I got into 11-25, it was much harder for me to choose which films would make the top 25 vs. which films would sit just outside the top 25. That's why I think I'm gonna do a part 2 video at some point for 26-50. I've still got other films that I probably like equally as much as a some I put in my top 25. Thanks Stuart!

      Oh I love the film of course. And maybe on some days for me, it would crack the top 5. Just kind of depends on my mood. But overall, I have more history with my top 5 titles, and I think that's probably what really landed them at the top. I didn't really rediscover The Thing until just a few years ago (even though I had seen it once many years ago, back in the 80s or 90s), so I didn't have quite as much history with that title, since there was such a long gap between viewings.

    Nice list there. I love a lot of those same films and many of them would be in my top 25 as well though probably in a different order for some of them. I'd probably have Conan the Barbarian somewhere high up the list as well as The Time Machine (with Rod Taylor not the Guy Pearce one) and Journey to the Centre of the Earth (the 1959 one obviously!). I might have Enemy Mine in there somewhere as well as the Back to the Future trilogy (love my time travel stuff) and the original Indiana Jones trilogy would also be high up. But no 1 for me is easily The Lord of the Rings trilogy. My favourite book so I guess it makes sense they are my favorite films. Brilliant adaptations that really honoured the source material. Unlike the recent TV show 🤢. Agree with you on De Niro btw. Cheers.

    I've never seen quite a few of these films... Almost Famous, The Score, Scent Of A Woman, Man On Fire, Heat I'll give them a try. I love Die Hard With A Vengeance.. • @TheOriginalFuzz
      @TheOriginalFuzz  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's just how I felt like doing this particular list. When I make my list videos, some entries are single films, while other entries consist of multiple films. The Alien and Terminator movies are my all-time favorite films, so they were definitely going to each receive a dedicated entry. But with something like the Star Wars original trilogy, I saw all three in the theater as a kid when they first came out, and when I reflect back on them, I think of them as a singular experience. I would never watch only the original Star Wars without watching the other two in the trilogy to complete the story. With the Matrix films... the entry is for the entire franchise as a whole, not just the first film (in other words, going against the grain of those who are only interested in the first film, but not the rest of the story). That's just how I roll with my list videos. I'm flexible with the parameters Lol!
      Anyway, yeah, definitely give those films a try. They're excellent. Thanks for watching!

    Pulp Fiction
    The Long Goodbye
    The Big Lebowski
    In the Heat of the Night
    Three Days of the Condor
    Lone Star

    Great video Fuzz ! I think there are 10 movies here that I don't really care for or think are "good" but not great but we all have different tastes ! The other 15 are all fantastic choices in my book and would be contenders on my own list. I was particularly happy to hear your love for "Almost Famous" (superb movie and I also love/prefer the "Bootleg cut"), "True Romance" (just a fantastic movie on so many levels, particularly with characters/cast/performances), "The Matrix" (ofc !), "Star Wars" (ofc ! but I have to give a shout out to "Return of the Jedi" I honestly love that movie and think it's even better than IV, for me it's V > VI > IV but we're splitting hairs, it's just an awersome trilogy all round), The Terminator and T2 (what a superb steelbook you have !). I'm not sure "The Fifth Element" would make my top25 but it would be getting up there, I have that same Studio Canal 4K slip edition, I also have the Studio Canal 4K Zavi Steel book edition (I must like this movie cos I've owned it on DVD, Blu-ray and now 2x on 4K ! I also saw it at the cinema when it first came out ! it just gets better with every viewing !), I like "First Blood" a lot but for me the best in the franchise was "Rambo" (not the 2nd movie, the fourth one from 2008...I was so surprised by that one !). I love "The Abyss" and think the 4K is decent, I love "Aliens" but I'm afraid I'm not a fan of that 4K, I prefer the original Blu-ray myself (I think it's clear that we literally don't all see/perceive digitial "enhancement" in the same way, it's not a "philosophical debate" I think our experiences are fundamentally different, for some reason some of us see and appreciate the "extra detail" and some of us see something very "unnatural looking" that we find hard to enjoy, regardless, it's a great movie whether you watch it on 4K or Blu-ray and would be in my top25 also !). "Man on Fire" is very underrated, great to see the love for that one. "Die Hard" is a classic, I gotta say that I really did enjoy the 2nd one but for some reason I never thought the third one was in the same league, I've literally only seen that third one once (at the cinema) but I must give it another view because several people now have told me it's much better than I remember. A few movies that would definitely be in my top25 that didn't make your list would be "Pulp Fiction", "Forrest Gump", "Excalibur", "Blade Runner", "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" and "Conan the Barbarian". I'd love to see your 26-50 ! Once again, great video Fuzz ! Keep up the good work ! 🙂👍

    I’d have most of those same films on my list as well and I really like The Score, Summer 2001 was a great Summer for movies and I also watched The Score in the theater. I remember being off work that summer and my wife worked in the mall and Id take her to work and have a quick lunch in the food court then I’d go see 4 movies and that theater was in competition with another one that had just opened so they had a deal where popcorn and drink refills were all free on top of the cheap ticket prices so it was awesome. I’d quickly hit the washroom between movies and refill my popcorn & drink then onto the next show. There usually was a slight overlap between my wife’s shift and the last movie of 30 or so minutes so she’d be waiting for me on the bench just outside the box office. It all worked out great. But, it's also a lot of fun... especially if you're into the trilogy and the whole world-building and mythology, then there's actually quite a bit in Resurrections to sink your teeth into... in terms of thoughtfulness and social commentary/subtext, etc.. What I found is that repeat viewings really help with Resurrections, and it's a movie that really can be open to interpretation. I got a lot more out of the movie the second time I watched it than I did the first time (even though I still liked it the first time, there's a lot of little stuff than can be missed on the first viewing). Great list! I love The Negotiator... that's one of those films that has a high rewatch value for me. Samuel is just killer in it! And of course I love Tarantino as well... especially earlier Tarantino. Jackie Brown is my favorite of his, but Pulp is right behind it. You have some on your list I've not seen, but I'm curious to look into and check out... so I'll be hitting IMDB to look a few of these up.
      Thanks so much for watching the channel and for all the great comments. I really appreciate that. My apologies for my delayed response -- I've been away from the channel for a bit. Usually I'm a little quicker to respond to comments. But I'm getting back into the groove and am working on my next video as we speak. Also, I'm making my way through your various comments, but bear with me if it takes me a bit longer to get through them all. I'm really glad you're enjoying the channel, and it's great to have you here!

    Awesome list Fuzz. You made your picks seem so easy. Confident in all your picks. I had a harder time with 25. After 10 they all mesh together. Lol. Here are my top 10 for your enjoyment. Lol.
    10 - Prisoners
    9 - Jaws
    8 - Mad Max Fury Road
    7 - Titanic
    6 - Prey
    5 - Dunkirk
    4 - The Greatest Showman
    3 - Ford v Ferrari
    2 - The Dark Knight
    1 - Braveheart
    My honorable mentions would be Disney's Lion King and Oppenheimer.

      Thanks so much Dwayne! I totally know what you mean... the first 10 were fairly easy for me, but it got a lot more difficult after 10. That's why I thought it might not be a bad idea to do a part 2 video for 26-50 at some point. Because there are some titles in my top 25 that I probably like equally as much as other titles I wasn't able to include. Anyway, thanks for sharing your Top 10. Some great choices there. I don't think I've ever seen Prisoners (the Denis Villeneuve film, right?), so I'm gonna put that one on my list to check out. And I still have yet to watch Fury Road... I own it as part of my Mad Max 4K set, but I never got around to watching it. I may have to pop that one in pretty soon, because I've heard good things about it. Thanks for watching and chiming in my friend! Great to see you as always.🙂

      @TheOriginalFuzz would definitely like to see a part 2. I actually enjoyed your picks from 11 to 25 because your top 10 were pretty predictable, lol. Called Aliens before I even clicked on the video. Lol. Yes, you are right about Prisoners, all his movies are excellent, but Prisoners stays with you a while. It is actually a hard movie to watch, but so damn good. I can almost bet you have never seen the Greatest Showman. I could be wrong, though. I had no interest what so ever, but my oldest son, who is big in theater, really wanted to see it with me, so we all went as a family. I have watched in multiple times since, and the 4k is spectacular. It was the first movie I have ever watched in a theater that received applause. It was a very cool moment. I am very excited to see the new Mad Max. Hearing excellent reviews about it.

    Just a couple of thoughts. Did you know that SCENT OF A WOMAN is a remake of the 1974 Italian film PROFUMO DI DONNA, which was a major International success and nominated for the best foreign film Oscar of 1975? Al Pacino's Oscar-winning performance in the American version is generally considered one of the hammiest on record. Likewise, I wonder if you realize that the Denzel Washington version of MAN ON FIRE is considered a schlock rehash of a much better original starring Scott Glenn made in 1987. I'm curious to know if you've seen the originals of both of these films. I'm also curious about why you consider Robert De Niro an "idiot". Don't let me guess.

However, I may make a video at some point discussing my favorite Italian horror films or Hong Kong crime films, martial arts films, etc. But that's probably about as close to a video on foreign titles as I would get.

      That's awesome! And honestly, that's not a bad price at all for a deluxe steelbook hard box edition like that, which I believe has been out of print for a while. Even Arrow's own list price/MSRP on those when they were first released was like $65 or something. Congrats on getting that. Has it arrived yet? If not, you're in for a treat... the steelbook and box look so much cooler in-hand then even over the video. The steelbook has this striking metallic look, and the colors really pop. It's also worth noting that ARrow doesn't usually do that deluxe steelbook box set configuration very often. I think they've only done it for a couple other titles (I know they did for David Lynch's Dune). But most of the time, their chunky boxes have just standard amaray cases in them, rather than steelbooks. So you've definitely got yourself something a little extra unique and collectible with this particular release.

But I do have some genre-specific (and era-specific) videos on the channel, if you're interested in checking them out. Here's a playlist to browse for all of my ranking/list videos... some are specific to action, some focus on sci-fi, and some on horror (from different decades). And then I've also done a few videos that are director-specific or actor-specific. Here's the playlist link: th-cam.com/play/PLvqNqhXG6gXTOZaa2GXG6GTV85km39DcJ.html

    I'm hoping for a 4k version of the Rock. That is such a good movie. I don't understand how there are some horrible movies on 4k yet good movies that deserve a 4k upgrade are stuck on DVD or Blu-ray 🤬

      Oh I hear ya man! We definitely need The Rock on 4K asap. The reason we haven't seen a 4K release for that one yet is because it's owned by Disney now (they own all the old movies from 20th Century Fox, Hollywood Pictures, and Touchstone Pictures), and Disney has been absolutely terrible about releasing catalog titles on 4K. We've gotten a few big ones on the format (like Speed and Die Hard), but for the most part, Disney doesn't really care about physical media... so they've been hosing us on the 4K releases. And that's why some major titles like The Rock and others haven't received 4k releases to date. But the good news is, Disney recently inked a deal with Sony to have Sony take over physical media distribution of all Disney-owned titles. The people at Disney are clueless and don't know what they're doing (they fired all the good, knowledgeable people there)... but Sony is a different story. Sony does have good people working in their home media division who actually know what they're doing, so I'm hoping this will be a good sign for finally getting titles like The Rock released on 4K. I'd like to see Gone in 60 Seconds and ConAir on 4K too!

    Not a big Spielberg fan??? Dude how can you not love Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, The Color Purple, Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War Of The Worlds, Minority Report. Spielberg has practically done it all.

      I'm fine with Spielberg's sci-fi and adventure films (like many of the ones you mentioned), but outside of those, I don't really care about most of the non-sci-fi/adventure movies he's made. So I like Jurassic and Minority Report, etc. But I couldn't care less about films like The Color Purple or Schindler's List or Amistad.

      @@kotobukiya70 I just have zero interest in them. They're not for me. Spielberg made a handful of movies I really like (well, maybe 6-7), that I think are well done. But outside of those, I'm not really interested in most of his output.
