Audie Murphy was the guy that made the country realize that PTSD wasn't the result of a lack of fortitude or cowardice. You can't very well call the most decorated soldier the U.S. Army has ever produced a coward so when he spoke out that there were very real mental costs to sending men off to war, people definitely listened.

Almost as if it's a bad idea to send neurotypicals to do a psychopath's job... who'd'a thunk it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@ Oh yea, you're real fucking tough. Even the mentally ill can suffer when exposed to what war really is. We all do. It doesn't matter what the fuck you are. War will fuck you up. I promise.

Not only that, the dude was a actual action hero. The dude has committed so many acts of heroism that when they started making a movie on his exploits, hollywood told him to tone it down because a lot of it just seemed so unbelievable... until they got the first hand accounts of his fellow soldiers who actually saw the dude do shit like jump on a burning wreckage of a tank to man the turret to mow down enemy soldiers, or him running straight into a enemy machine gun encampment, killing a handful and capturing the rest... all because he saw his friend got mowed down even though the people in the encampment had pretended to surrender.

They are from Sweden. Sweden is as "neutral" as the Swiss. So they can sing about every party in a war/campain without bias. And that is why neither the French nor the Polish audience hate them for starting every live performances with a song about the "Blitzkrieg" (Ghost Division)

The war scenes you see in the video are from a movie called "To Hell and Back" it was about Audie Murphy and he starred it in so the soldier you see in those war scenes is the real Audie Murphy.
The lyrics in the course is actually Murphy's own words from his poems. What is crazy is he was literally captain America, when he tried to join the army they told him he was to small. He eventually found someone to ok his papers and was the biggest hero in ww2.
As a Texan myself, Audie Murphy is one of my personal heroes. The man was a living legend. I'm surprised all the metal on his chest didn't make him fall over, bro was a TWIG of a man but an absolute BADASS. He volunteered for the marines, they said no. Navy said no. Army said no. All because he was so small. Eventually though, his persistence paid off. And then his glory began. He had MALARIA through most of his service and STILL was an absolute badass. He got hooked on drugs when he came home and locked himself in a motel room for a week and got OVER it. He played himself in a biopic where they cut things out because they thought audiences wouldn't BELIEVE IT... I'm also of Polish descent, and if you don't react to Uprising Imma riot
One of my personal favorites is "Attack of the Dead Men", about the Seige of Osoveic Fortress during World War I. It actually inspired some lore in my D&D group's universe.

i remember watching the video a while back, i love listening to Sabaton and usually i enjoy watching there amazing high quality videos because they are all on a whole another level but i struggled watching this one and had to look a way for certain scenes (the bug scenes and the gun scenes) where the second group of scenes is because i lost several friends to suicide. at the same time i also love that they put this out despite how unkomfortable it makes me because mental health issues, not only comming from serving in a war but also in general are not talked enough in public to be recognized as a thing that happens to people by the general population. While we also need Informative videos, something like this that gives general attention to it is something i love to see if its done right because im dealing with mental health issues on a regular basis and i feel like i cant ask other for advice since nobody besides me that i know has made experience with it and could help me out. I cant wait for the day where videos like this and all others that show mental health issues correctly how they are help raising enough awareness so it gets the attention and dediction we need to properly deal with it. For example none of the people i lost to suicide despite them all living in the same country as me where able to find a mental health expert or if the had one it was a bad person that made them stop seeking help, which reminds me i will never understand why people get in to a mental health related job if they hate dealing with mental health and just end up causing even more harm which often is very difficult or impossible to undo later on.

First time I watched the video I felt it was a bit on the nose and overly dramatic, but when I thought about it I realized that it was just me trying to downplay how it really feels to be in these positions. The video is raw and doesn't hold back and it is very realistic, another youtuber who suffers from PTSD mentioned the "sitting in a corner with your back against the wall" to be something only someone with PTSD would understand the gravity of but that everyone suffering from PTSD has found themself in that exact same position. Audie became a film actor and played himself in a film dedicated to his deeds in the second world war. He died in a plane crash while on a business trip in 1971 at the age of 46.

Sometime after the war, 1LT Murphy was asked what made him do what he did (to be awarded the Medal of Honor) to which he replied, "they were killing my friends."
PTSD Panic Attacks are the worst thing I've had to deal with! I have to be alone for them to go away, but now it takes medication as I remember more. But maybe 3ppl even know I have them after all these yrs.
The fastest test to find out if someone has a vet in their family... if a reactor can pass that one scene without stopping to say "if you need help, get help" he doesn't have anyone with those nightmares. This song is one of their MUCH heavier songs, and it is hard to explain to people. Another good one is Price of a Mile, talking about the massive battles of WW1 which often counted 10,000 or even 100,000 dead per mile gained. Welcome to Sabaton. We are happy to have you joining us in this foxhole.
That is text that Audie Murphy wrote down after he had stopped consuming alcohol or drugs. Go in and watch the history of this man on sabaton history channel on TH-cam!
Hi I'm from Sweden and have listed to Sabaton for. many years and listen to veterans from many countries listen to Sabaton saying same thing as you, keep on with Sabaton, 82 all the way, crismus trues, Bismark....you can also look on Sabaton history there you get more information about the war battle you will enjoy every one
Here’s another one for the military/music reactions: Five Finger Death Punch - Bad Side of Heaven Let it play to the end. It has listed resources for helping veterans!
PTSD is horrible, especially if it leads to panic attacks, I've had a few from PTSD and when u have one such attack u wish that u would die instead and several weeks after my first attack i really felt like I wanted to die rather than have another such episode I haven't had one in a few years now, It is hard to explain how I stopped having them, in a way learned to accept the world as it is and do ur best with all the shit that goes on in the world, my heart goes out to those out there that suffer from it War is the most primitive way of handling problems, but humanity is still a young and primitive race
I had a buddy do something similar. He went AWOL after a deployment, spent 4 days alone in a hotel, smoking pot and eating pizza. He came back ok, but he didn't tell anyone his plan. He had it worse than me, but I remember his mother coming to the base and I'd spent a Thanksgiving at her house and she just looked at me and said "You were supposed to keep an eye on him". I was forgiving when he came back, but I told him not to put me in that position again. You need a week off? Tell me. I won't try to stop you, but I can confirm you are safe.
Normally I'm not very big on recordings of live shows, but the 40:1 live at Woodstock 2012 is worth watching. Otherwise the Night witches story vid, Resist and Bite, Ghost Division, The Red Baron, The Last Battle, Attack of the Dead Men. If you are ready for more of an emotional gut punch, The Price of a Mile, Cliffs of Gallipoli, Fields of Verdun, Uprising. They also have a history channel where they go into the history of the events that the songs are written about, and if you look up the lyrics on their web page they have a little history snippet at the bottom.
Lt. Murphy wrote poetry, a book and then played himself in the movie that was made from that book; the man in the vintage footage in the music video is Murphy himself. Whichever song you pick is going to be amazing, I'd suggest either Devil Dogs (Lyric Video) or Final Solution (Lyric Video)
Good stuff. Fun side note, the movie pictures in the video is the real Audy Murphy. After he left that motell he wrote a book and became a moviestar. I mean Warhero, auther and actor... this guy is amazing!
If you want to know more about Audie Murphy and the story behind To Hell and Back, as well as other Sabaton songs, I recommend viewing the Sabaton History Channel. Every Sabaton is based on true and real events that occurred during times of conflict. They are the greatest history teacher that anyone can get as they 100% neutral and will cover events on both sides of conflict.
The "memory" or backstory part is actually supposed to be the actual guy, during his acting career, if you compare it to his photo at the end. PS .someone was assigned this person for a backstory-tag, for Sabaton's cover of Motorhead's 1916 video.
Man...love that you do a video for a great song..but anyone can see its definitely hitting you in a different way and I'm sorry you went through anything shit like this. But your first thought was to be supportive of other people and just shit...your a good dude
I'd like to see your reaction to Nothing More's God Went North and Jenny. Bring your tissues. God Went North is a song the singer wrote for his mother as she was terminally ill with cancer, and it was recorded shortly after she passed. The song Jenny is about the mental issues and addiction suffered by his sister and aunt, and God Went North gives a little background to that song. Powerful music.
Check out Christmas Truce! Saboton has no one bad song, Their mantra, Lest We Forget! Bismarck, Night Witches ( another animated video), Attack of the Dead Men. They are not political they sing of sacrifices of ordinary soldiers in war. Rock On Stay Safe! Happy Holidays!🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I think it took some time to realise that humans were not meant for that kind of mechanized war. It was so impersonal and yet dozens of men could die from some a$$hole pushing a button. War used to be fought between armies that clearly saw each other. Putting these guys through days long artilley bombardment and gas attacks ... it seems more like a crime against humanity
He wrote poetry and one of them is "The Crosses Grow on Anzio" . Sabaton used some of the lyrics in this song.

There are portions of Audies poems in this song.
Yarn Hub did a video for this guy.
Here’s another one for the military/music reactions:
Five Finger Death Punch - Bad Side of Heaven
Let it play to the end. It has listed resources for helping veterans!
Audie Murphy is the most decorated soldier in US army history and I belive his grave is the most visited grave in Arlington Cemetery
What you said I talk to fellow Veterans who have the same problem. We meet every week for coffee and chat.
Check out Attack of the Dead men and Final Solution✌🏻
PTSD is horrible, especially if it leads to panic attacks, I've had a few from PTSD and when u have one such attack u wish that u would die instead and several weeks after my first attack i really felt like I wanted to die rather than have another such episode
I haven't had one in a few years now, It is hard to explain how I stopped having them, in a way learned to accept the world as it is and do ur best with all the shit that goes on in the world, my heart goes out to those out there that suffer from it
War is the most primitive way of handling problems, but humanity is still a young and primitive race
If you REALLY wanna get emotional and have a massive anxiety attack.
The Final Solution
And
Attack of the dead men
I had a buddy do something similar.
Ptsd is a fight no one else really sees , it's a war you fight everyday every night within yourself.
You gotta check out their song "Verdun"
Give a listen to 5FDP "Wrong Side Of Heaven." It's amazing, & Ivan Moody's voice is unmatched
All the medals in the world won't make it easier to adapt back to society.
The "memory" or backstory part is actually supposed to be the actual guy, during his acting career, if you compare it to his photo at the end.
PS .someone was assigned this person for a backstory-tag, for Sabaton's cover of Motorhead's 1916 video.
React to Ghost Division as well. It's an amazing song.
There was a movie made about his.
Could you do sabaton soldier of 3 armies
Man...love that you do a video for a great song..but anyone can see its definitely hitting you in a different way and I'm sorry you went through anything shit like this. But your first thought was to be supportive of other people and just shit...your a good dude
You're a good guy.😢
Hell isnt 6 feet deep, its there soon as my eyes close.
Hey Cliff Beats check out Sabaton Soldier of Heaven
Next song should be The Ballad of Bull by Sabaton.
Primo Victoria my friend
Yes, but please not the official music video! Live is so much better, or the one with footage from Saving private Ryan, fanmade.
Check out Christmas Truce! Saboton has no one bad song, Their mantra, Lest We Forget! Bismarck, Night Witches ( another animated video), Attack of the Dead Men. Saboton has a history channel called simply, Saboton History it tells the history behind the songs. Guaranteed if Saboton History was taught in our schools we would all be historians. They are not political they sing of sacrifices of ordinary soldiers in war. Rock On Stay Safe! Happy Holidays!🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
He already did
@@connydely1460 I’ll check it out thanks and Happy Holidays! Stay Safe Rock On 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Sabaton try night witches, wolfpack, man of war, the attack of the dead men
Fun fact the guy playing Auddie Murphy is a descendant of him
I think it took some time to realise that humans were not meant for that kind of mechanized war.
It was so impersonal and yet dozens of men could die from some a$$hole pushing a button.
War used to be fought between armies that clearly saw each other. Putting these guys through days long artilley bombardment and gas attacks ... it seems more like a crime against humanity
