Thank you very much! It was an honor to get to react to it. I appreciate you showing love and watching with me! Happy holidays and blessings to you and your loved ones 🙏
Yep. One second in your life. One decision. He saved a whole family. About 100 people who would never see the light if their granddads get killed. Just think about that a moment.
Franz Stigler explained in on of the interviews, that his former Squadron Leader told every Pilot, that if he will ever gets aware that one of his Pilots shoots at Parachutes, he will shoot the one himself. Stigler saw the hardly flying B-17 as their Parachute the get out alive
Yes, that's kind of a chain of unlikely events that saved the B-17 that day. If the guns hadn't been frozen, they would probably have shot at Stigler when they saw him, and he would have shot back and shot down the B17. But given that the B17 was damaged so badly AND that it couldn't fight back, that's what made Stigler think of the bomber as a "parachute" and pushed him to not only not shoot them down, but even escort them so that they could cross the anti-aircraft guns without being shot down.
:smiles: And it is the fact that you are that adds the final flourish to this wonderful tale of humanity remaining even in the midst of bitter war. I have heard this song many times and watched a good number of reactions to it and it never fails to spark tears in the eyes of this old Englishman.
Wasn't this such a great story? Best part is that it's all true! Humans are capable of such terrible atrocities, yet we are also capable of such beautiful acts of kindness and altruism. I choose to focus on the latter.
It is a real story. They didn’t take down the bomber even when ordered to because it was retreating, heavily damaged and as mentioned the guns were inoperative so it was no threat. It would have been like shooting an unarmed man. Instead he led them back out of their airspace.
@@apex_blue we are literally praising a German from WW2, and you cant give the Japanese men any room? There were tons of good men fighting for Japan that had no other choice.
Stigler's commander said, "If I ever hear of you shooting a man in a parachute, I'll shoot you myself." To Stigler, shooting at the badly damaged B-17 was to him like shooting at a man in a parachute.
i love his video and the actual story its based on makes me tear up every time i watch it or anything about it, also cliff you have to watch more sabaton they have some phenomenal songs and there history channel is wicked as well
All the stories about their music actually happened check out Attack of the Dead Men and the Lost Battalion which are crazy stories. P.S both men died within a month of each other a true story about honor and chivalry
The man that taught the German pilot always told him "If you go after a man in a parachute, I'll kill you myself." He considered the B-17 and her crew to be the same as men in parachutes.
This..this Story is the beatifull Light in dark times, the grasp for Humanity, one of the few men we Germans can be proud of. Thanks for your honest and emotional reaction.
As powerful as this one is, the night witches video hits harder for me, both are still powerful, i love pretty much everything sabaton has put out. Great reaction, keep it up man.
Aawww this is a story worth spreading. I love how Sabaton is giving us the history of humanity at its best. This is what kids need to learn in school. Respect for this group. Thank you for reacting to this, otherwise I would've miss this.
Sabaton has reminded me of what I miss about the old metal from the 80s and early 90s. Back then CNN was the only 24 hr news channel and it was a baby only a few yrs old, and there were only 32 cable channels on tv. Bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Iron Maidan often wrote songs about stuff they read about or saw in the news. They didnt go WAY deep into the stories. But they gave you an overview of the top the song was about. One of my faves is TANK MAN. On CNN while they were showing the Tiananmen Square Massacre. A man saw three tanks coming up the street and he stood in the road blocking the tank and the ones behind it. The tank tried to go around the man but he stepped to the side again blocking the tank. A few months later I was listening to the new Anthrax album Persistence of Time and a song called "One Mans Stand" reminded me of TANK MAN (the guy that blocked the tanks). A few months later I was reading a Metal Edge magazine the guitarist of Anthrax confirmed that the song was indeed about Tank Man. I'm a history buff so I loved the fact that many metal songs were based on actual events. This was lost for a long time. Good to see Sabaton bringing it back.
Another great animated story by Sabaton is Nightwitches full animated story. It's about an all women flying regiment from Russia. Awesome story about awesome women!
I have seen this video about hundred times and I am still so nervous during the intro, at the edge of my seat, hoping that Ye Olde Pub will not crash after all the damage it sustained... And the music is so dramatic.
Stigler felt something was off when he came up behind the bomber, and the tail gunner wasn't shooting at him. As he came closer, he saw the gunner slumped over and the bloody gunner's compartment. The only guns that were working in Ye Olde Pub was the ball turret, and Stigler maintained position above where those could aim. Coming up on the bomber's right side, he got a clear view into the fuselage and saw the wounded crew. Brown, focused on flying the crippled bomber, didn't notice Stigler at first. When he did, he closed his eyes, hoping it was a hallucination, and then looked again. The German fighter was still there, and Brown felt a pit in his stomach. During the flight, Stigler tried to signal Brown to turn North for neutral Sweden, but Brown refused and continued for England. One of Stigler's prior squadron leaders in North Africa told them "If I see or hear any of you shooting at a man in a parachute, I'll shoot you myself." Seeing the bomber barely keeping together, Stigler equated it to a parachute and just couldn't shoot it. Knowing the bomber still had to cross the Atlantic Wall, with some of the best AA gunners the Wehrmacht had, Stigler knew the bomber would be destroyed. Flying alongside the Pub, Stigler gambled on the ground crews to recognize one of their fighters and not shoot. While rare, there was a Luftwaffe wing that operated captured American and British aircraft that had to crash/emergency land in occupied territory. So seeing the fighter escorting, it was assumed that was what was going on.
Sabaton has a history channel where they describe their songs and videos, the background behind it, the person or event explaining everything surrounding it!
Here’s another one for the military/music reactions: Five Finger Death Punch - Bad Side of Heaven Let it play to the end. It has listed resources for helping veterans!
For the next sabaton reaction I recommend “the lost battalion” it’s my favorite song of theirs (though I may be biased since it was the first song I heard of theirs)
Sabaton's songs are inspired by various historical wars. Even the band name is military inspired, as Sabaton is also the name of the part of a knight's armor that covers the foot. Which is included the S in the Sabaton logo.

Good reaction my friend...I have seen your reactions of Dimash, the best male singer of the world...The passion and dedication when interpreting a song can only be compared with the person who has influenced him to sing leaving everything on stage: His idol, the queen, the incomparable Lara Fabian...Lara is the best female singer and performer of the world...She is a light lyric soprano with a great vocal range and incredible breath control, which is one of the things that Dimash admires the most about Lara...She speaks 5 languages and sings like in 12 languages....That's why she is the inspiration for Dimash and several singers around the world...You can see on TH-cam covers of her songs made by singers of the stature of: Dimash, Floor Jansen, Morissette Amon, Gabriel Henrique, Katrina Velarde, Cakra Khan and others...Please react to her songs, all masterpieces, in LIVE versions, because Lara is more impressive when she sings live, so you can see why she is the idol of Dimash...Try to do it in this order and almost all songs are from the same Lara’s concert “From Lara With Love” in Montreal 1999, one of her best works: 1) Je Suis Malade (Singing in French)...2) Caruso (Singing in Italian)...3) Je T'AIME (2002 Live version in Paris Singing in French)...4) Perdere L'Amore (1999 Live version Singing in Italian)...5) Adagio (1999 Live version singing in english)...6) Broken Vow (1999 Live version singing in English)...7) You are Not From Here (1999 Live version singing in English)...8) Quédate (1999 Live version singing in Spanish)....9) Ti Amo Cosi (2019 Live version Singing a trío with Dimash and Aida Garifullina)....Thank you.
Active duty Air Force NCO here. Very early in training we're introduced to the Law of Armed Conflict, which is an overview of what you can and can't legally do in war. This includes a discussion of "lawful" vs. "unlawful" targets. Someone that is "hors de combat"--French for "out of combat," i.e, incapacitated or incapable of posing a threat--is an unlawful target. The fact that Ye Olde Pub was full of holes and limping back to base would probably meet this definition. Long story short, attacking an unlawful target constitutes a war crime and could result in criminal prosecution under international law and/or military law. That said, I don't think these laws were nearly as codified in the 40's as they are today, but even in war people can act out of a basic sense of decency. Some of the principles of international law include Honor (fight with a certain degree of fairness--wearing enemy uniforms to trick them is illegal), Proportionality (you don't get to carpet bomb a whole city just because one dude shot a gun at you), Humanity (don't cause unnecessary suffering), and Distinction (only attack valid targets that contribute to the enemy's war effort--a factory making tanks is a valid target, but a residential area is not). Since you talked about "codes," I refer you in particular to this passage about the principle of Honor: "Honor has been vital to the development of the law of war, which was preceded by warriors’ codes of ethical behavior. U.S. military canons of personal conduct continue to emphasize the importance of honor as a core value. Honor as a core value and other ethical norms continue to be vital as a medium for the implementation of the law of war. Honor has also been called chivalry. Chivalry is often associated with a specific historical context-a code of behavior for knights in Europe during the Middle Ages. Rather than refer to this specific context, the term honor is used in this manual to indicate more clearly that the law of war principle of honor draws from warriors’ codes from a variety of cultures and time periods." -DoD Law of War Manual para. 2.6.1 dod.defense.gov/Portals/1/Documents/pubs/DoD%20Law%20of%20War%20Manual%20-%20June%202015%20Updated%20Dec%202016.pdf?ver=2016-12-13-172036-190
You've gotta read "A Higher Call: An Incredible True Story of Combat and Chivalry in the War-Torn Skies of World War II" by Adam Makos and Larry Alexander. It's the entire story of these two men from their youth all the way through to the end. Unbelievable, but true story!
Another band to check out is Amon Amarth, Sabaton covers one of their songs that is a favorite of mine called Twilight of the thunder God. Other Amon songs I would recommend is Raven's flight, shield wall, Valhalla awaits me, the lyrics are just sick on that one, and raise your horns. Also Sabaton wise check out night witches.
In the lyrics "say goodbye to the cross he deserves" they talking about the German pilot Stigler has 27 "victory" and one victory was if he shoot down one fighter pilot and one bomber was 3 victory to get the knight cross of iron cross it's needed 30 victory and if he shoot down that B-17 he would get that but instead he choosed to save that plane.
Oh also, if you’re interested in the stories of any of their songs, there’s a channel called Sabaton History where they partnered with another channel to give the story behind each song. Highly recommend checking it out
The thing that gets me about this event is the German pilot was one kill off being a flying ace. I think I also saw a quote from him threatening to shoot anyone in his sqaudron who shot at anyone who had bailed out from a plane and were in a parachute l.
Franz Stigler's mentor had a high code of honor, which stated that if he found out that Franz ever shot at a man in a parachute, he would shoot Franz himself. Stigler adopted this code of honor, and viewed Ye Olde Pub the same due to the fact that it was a miracle it was somehow still flying.
I'd recommend Night Witches, also a video from Yarnhub - the same that made this video for Sabaton. It's about a female Russian night bomber regiment which is all but forgotten and a great video/song. Also for emotional live audience participation, try En livstid i krig, live from Gothenburg 2020 (A life time of war). Also anything from that tour is great both audio and video and an unusual camera angle. You're on stage with the band looking out to the audience. Pretty cool :-) They're better live, usually, lots of energy and pyro.
That’s what I keep hearing. I’m going to start doing a bunch of Em content soon 🙏. Just been stuck in the studio. It’s always like this during the holidays. Starting the new year I will have a bunch of free time until spring
So happy to go to there live concert in Antwerpen in Belgium next year. If the virus not shutting it all down of course. Had the same type of reaction to there music , love to see you react to them. Please react to the song Bismark i know you going to love it. Keep doing what you do. Love youre reactions.
Love your reactions and sabaton are one of my favorite bands you will love "The night witches" animated video done in the same style as this awesome video its the story of a Russian all female night bomber squadron who terrified the Nazis on the eastern front these brave women were sent out in obsolete canvass biplanes woefully under trained but through guts courage and skill burned their legend into the history books.
For me as a German, im so thankfull for People like Franz Stigler and Charlie Brown, because our Goverment will Teach us Germans that every German in the Years betweet 1930 and 1945 was a Nazi. Im thankfull that German Soldiers like Franz Stigler who sayd to his fellow Pilots in his Squadron, "If i see someone of you shooting an Enemy Pilot on a Parachute, unable to fight back, killing them, i swear you i will shot you down!" , show the Enemy that not all People in Germany are or were Bastards and only have to fight for the wrong Side.
Yo Cliff i would absolutely love to See a reaction to beatbox to world live wildcard winners. New big compition in the beatbox world and the winners are crazy, Much love bro
This story is both true, but during one of the shows after this song was made, the grandson of the german fighter heard this and brought it up to his grandma, who said this was the story of her father. They ended up getting tickets and going to a show
Heh funny thing my grandparents today live in the city they bombed (to be precice the city where they recovered from the 4 mile fall Oldenburg, Bremen) 🤔 Awesome story! P. S. Bremen is great for bycicle rides and a nice place to visit
I know you don't always do long form content but if you like WWII or airplane stories there is a GREAT documentary about a group of WWII pilots after the war directed by Steven Spielberg's daughter "Above & Beyond"
Even if Germany was ruled by terrorists and madmen.. There were still real Germans with a heart. Like Stauffenberg or Franz Stigler. It doesn't matter which country.. All countries have done shit like Russia and the USA or Germany.. But as a German, I love you as human brothers.
Hey cliff i really dig your stuff. You should really do a shpongle reaction if you'd wanna do smth different and magnificent. I recommend "nothing is something wort doing"
Check out Saboton Christmas Truce, not a spoiler alert it is a true story! Just a suggestion just like you played No Bullets Fly thru the end play Christmas Truce thru the credits. He had just done it, that is the one he referred to having to stop before it ended because it was too emotional. If I recall, he had to take about 5 minutes break before he could even give his thoughts on the song, and went back later to listen to Floor's ending theme.
Many of the pioneers of air to air combat were or were influenced by noble traditions where the goal was not to kill their enemies but to defeat them as such attacking a wounded enemy was disgraceful from his own accounts Hans Steigler's commanding officer during his training instilled these values in his men. This sense of personal honour while not common did occur throughout the German forces during the war often at great personal risk and in opposition to Nazi policy these men were often descended from knight's and tried to uphold their families traditions and honour.
Great reaction. Very happy you liked the vid.
Thank you very much! It was an honor to get to react to it. I appreciate you showing love and watching with me! Happy holidays and blessings to you and your loved ones 🙏

“Honor the deeds in songs”
hello greetings from Mexico ✌🏻
I'd recommend Night Witches, also a video from Yarnhub - the same that made this video for Sabaton. It's about a female Russian night bomber regiment which is all but forgotten and a great video/song.
Also for emotional live audience participation, try En livstid i krig, live from Gothenburg 2020 (A life time of war). Also anything from that tour is great both audio and video and an unusual camera angle. You're on stage with the band looking out to the audience. Pretty cool :-) They're better live, usually, lots of energy and pyro.
I feel like you should give "To hell and back" official video by Sabaton a reaction.
Great reaction! Love all of them. You gotta do Royce and Eminem- Caterpillar. You won't be sorry. Em's verse is insane
That’s what I keep hearing. I’m going to start doing a bunch of Em content soon 🙏. Just been stuck in the studio. It’s always like this during the holidays. Starting the new year I will have a bunch of free time until spring

Yep. What a great presentation. And what a great band.
Yeah I needed a few manly tears on my lunch break.
SABATONNN !!!!!
Cliff- on the string where Yarnhub comments- that’s also Franz Stigler’s daughter commented
As a Serb i must recomend Sabaton - Last Dying Breath
Thanks for checking out one of my favorite videos of all time :)
Chur chur. Just got hur.

This story is both true, but during one of the shows after this song was made, the grandson of the german fighter heard this and brought it up to his grandma, who said this was the story of her father. They ended up getting tickets and going to a show
Not to mention the german fighter and the american pilot both ended up being great friends years later.
The first “gg wp”
Heh funny thing my grandparents today live in the city they bombed (to be precice the city where they recovered from the 4 mile fall Oldenburg, Bremen) 🤔
Awesome story!
P. S. Bremen is great for bycicle rides and a nice place to visit
You should definitely listen to 82nd all the way. It's another great Sabaton song.

I know you don't always do long form content but if you like WWII or airplane stories there is a GREAT documentary about a group of WWII pilots after the war directed by Steven Spielberg's daughter "Above & Beyond"
Bo Burnham this is how the world works is one of his greatest, I saw you didn't reacted to it
Please react to klarrise de guzman what's up acoustic cover(4 non blondes)from Philippines😊😉
Not every German was a Nazi, some of them were real heros. Soldiers yes, but sometimes Knights with Honor.
Even if Germany was ruled by terrorists and madmen.. There were still real Germans with a heart. Like Stauffenberg or Franz Stigler. It doesn't matter which country.. All countries have done shit like Russia and the USA or Germany.. But as a German, I love you as human brothers.
hey man check out sabaton history on youtube you will get the history about all their songs there
Hey cliff i really dig your stuff. You should really do a shpongle reaction if you'd wanna do smth different and magnificent. I recommend "nothing is something wort doing"

@@wickedywack406 thank you I will! Happy Holidays Rock on Stay Safe !🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
He had just done it, that is the one he referred to having to stop before it ended because it was too emotional. If I recall, he had to take about 5 minutes break before he could even give his thoughts on the song, and went back later to listen to Floor's ending theme.
Cliff check out Doja Cat. She’s rapping her ass off this year
You gotta do lucky you by Eminem and Joyner
Can you react to Tim Minchim - The Pope Song or Thank You God 👍
Many of the pioneers of air to air combat were or were influenced by noble traditions where the goal was not to kill their enemies but to defeat them as such attacking a wounded enemy was disgraceful from his own accounts Hans Steigler's commanding officer during his training instilled these values in his men. This sense of personal honour while not common did occur throughout the German forces during the war often at great personal risk and in opposition to Nazi policy these men were often descended from knight's and tried to uphold their families traditions and honour.
Reaction plz so beautiful new song jazz dimash ( ikanaide )
