- What a project. I am glad it is all done and now I can start using it. Thanks for watching the restoration series on the mill. Also thanks to everybody that helped out. Now it is time to make tooling, boring bars, angle plates, and a taper lock key for it.
I look forward to you making the tooling and accessories, now that you have completed the refurb. Thanks Tom...and thanks to "one and done" Kaos!
Thanks for watching the series. Yeah Khaos was like "I will wait for you to get into something then come and drop my toy at your feet."
To properly install the tailstock I believe you will want to get that feed shaft and the gear installed in their original locations. Then you adjust the vertical position of the bearing by lifting the bevel gears apart and turning only the vertical shaft until you find the closest tooth. Then there usually is an adjustment on top for the thrust of that screw that allows you to fine tweak it with 2 jam nuts. Unfortunately I am probably too late for this advice to help but I hope it can!
The boring mill looks fantastic Tom. You've done a marvelous job on it. Well worth all the effort. Looking forward to seeing it in action. Cheers Nobby.
Thank you Nobby. Quite the task but happy with the result.
That blue looks amazing Tom. You knocked it out of the park. That was a lot of work. You must be happy.
Thank you Randy. It does look sharp. A lot of work for sure but glad I finally got it done.
Tom by my grading system you have created a piece of "Fine Art" . My love of these old cast iron beauties is almost cult like. Every day I can't wait to get out in my shop and be among these old pioneers of industry. As I heard someone else say here on You Tube " We stand on the shoulders of History. I'm thinking it may have been Matt the scrap whisperer.
Thank you Terry. It is a journey for sure.
Hello Tom,
Great to see it back together... I look forward to seeing you make the tooling for it.. See you next week...
Take care.
Paul,,
Thanks Paul. Glad to finally have it done.
Brilliant work on that machine - really well done. I like your approach - not a restoration - a recommission to solid and working status - top job. You will do great things with it. Thank you for the shout out! Greatly appreciated. I'd better hurry up and release that video! Cheers to you and all the best.
Thanks Stuart. Quite a bit of work but it should pay off. Thanks for your sticker and and yeah lets see that new Cincy.
That's a big project behind you. Now you can put it to good use and increase your shop capabilities. Thanks for share.
Excited to get it done that is for sure.
Tom - You are making excellent progress . That Machine will change the dynamics of your Shop. Nothing but good is going to
happen . We are all in your corner . - Jim
It looks great, Tom. All your hard work has paid off!
I appreciate it Dave. 🙏
Far out Tom! well done buddy, and thanks so much for bringing us along
Thanks for watching Ralfy.
Looks great, Tom. Love the paint. Glad to see it's back together, can't wait to see it make some chips!
Thank you Greg. A lot of work like your K&T was, but very satisfying once it is done. Almost hate to get it dirty. 😀
Ready to make beautiful parts now. That was a very big job. Well done.
I hope so. Thanks for watching Michel.
Great Job on your Boring Mill in a fairly short time ! Getting time to do things for your self is often the hardest part of working for yourself ! You are 100% correct , rounding up the tooling is a task not to be underestimated . I have been quietly picking up missing items for my Lucas as they have appeared in my area for the last year or more . Good Work Keep at it !
Thanks. Unfortunately the previous owner scraped all the boring bars prior to me buying his machine.
Amazing job Tom she’s a beaut!
Gday Tom, the machine looks new again, it’s been a great series to follow and that ball screw is bloody awesome, great job mate
Thanks Matty. It has been a journey, but it was needed. The HBM will be a joy to run now.
well done Tom! it's always the small things we find as we're assembling! lol I love the ball screw, seems very smooth and effortless. exited to see it in operation!
Thanks Chad. Yeah those curve balls thrown in are always fun to deal with.

Thank you.
I am impressed with the HBM. I hope that in time it will pay for itself and then some. It probably looks as good as when it first left the factory. KOKO!
Thanks James. I hope so too.
That’s a big project completed Tom. Awesome work!
Cheers
Martin

SWEET.. great job Tom..
That's quite a machine Tom. I'm looking forward to seeing some jobs on it. All the best.
Hey Paul. And to think this is a small HBM compared to most. 😲
Great restoration Tom. Thanks for bringing us along!
Yes sir. I can't believe I beat you. Time for you to wrap up the drill press and make some holes. 😂
@@hilltopmachineworks2131 that drill press is going waaaay longer than I had planned 😂
Nice work Tom, the machine looks great. Now for all the boring jobs to start lol. Cheers Tony
I appreciate it Tony. Let the chips begin.
Good job Tom. I am sure it will do some great jobs for you. Thanks for sharing. ATB regards from the UK
Thank you.
Congratulations! Now lets see it cutting.
Thanks Craig and hopefully so.
it would be very interesting to see what you make with this machine. great work like always.
Thanks Craig.
Hey Tom. Well done. 👍 now some extra clamping parts. and then the fun begins. I'm curious about the first project. I wish I had that much space in my shed. 😅
You could always just knock out a wall and squeeze one in. 😂
Good end result . Will be interesting to see how it performs . Lol , i wish my one was at that stage . I hope to start on my one later in the year . Cheers 👍
Hopefully it will work as good as it can be expected for it's age. Yeah I am ready for you to do a video series on yours.
@@hilltopmachineworks2131 It is going to be an epic long series . Hopefully not as long as '' The Days Of Our Lives '' ! 👍
it took a while but it should be worth it. Thanks for the video keep on keeping on.
Pretty big undertaking but glad it got done. Thanks for watching Harold.
Woo Hoo ! looks great Tom, I'm sure your excided for that first test run!
ATB...Dean
Thanks Dean. Yeah it will be a little bit of a learning curve first using it.
Good stuff. Thank you.
G'day Tom. When The Defiance first flew in ( Startrek Defiance 😅😊😊 )
It could have been part of a scrap yard.
With lots of time & effort & your great SuperVisor Captain Kaos it suddenly turned into a Beautiful Work of Art
Eagerly awaiting to see this Monster in action
Well Done. 🎉😊
Ted
Thanks Ted. Hard to believe it is the same machine that got wheeled in last summer.
lovely Renovation Tom & Mr K
Looks Great
Bet your well pleased. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Kev
Thanks Kev. A ton of work, but now it should make the best parts it can.
i felt the same way when i finished my tool room lathe.
She looks great Tom
Thanks for all your help Michael and motivation.
@hilltopmachineworks2131 I did very little compared to what you have accomplished. But as you know, you're always welcome.
@@michaelhale4041 It is always nice to phone a friend. 🙂
very good job my friend Tom
Thank you Michel. 🙏
It's amazing the huge jobs you do all by yourself. You are really self sufficient.
Thank you Robert. I guess I have always been that way.
Looks great thanks for sharing Tom
Thank you!
Great work Tom
Thanks Kimber.
Great job
Thank you.
congrats….great job
I appreciate it Chuck.
Oh man, that ball screw is easy ! So jealous ! So smooth. Brian had a great idea with that. Q? Does it have graduated dials? Does the ball screw have the same pitch as the acme screw? --Doozer
Yeah it is smooth like hot butter. Glad I went this route. Oh good question. I was thinking both the old and new screw were 4tpi. I will have to check on that. I am starting on building a taper lock key tomorrow.
Well done mate good video
Thanks Trevor. How are things in the land down under?
Sure looks impressive Tom, hope you've got the instruction manual for it !😃
Thank you Del. I do have the manual but it is pretty basic so here is to on the job training. 👍
Looks great Tom hope it brings in some new business for you. Lots of hard work but you did a great job. Nice gantry did you build it? Thanks for the video.
Thanks Jim. Hopefully I can get some time on it with my projects first so I am comfortable with using it. A lot of levers to work in certain orders. The gantry crane I bought. I wanted to build one, but the cost of the steel alone was more than the cost of purchasing this one.
Did you level the machine before trying to align the tailstock? I must have missed that video.
Yes. We leveled it during the initial disassembly. I did not video it since it took a fair bit a fidgeting and shim placement.
@@hilltopmachineworks2131 nice, was just going to warn you, if you didn't level it, youd have to do that lining up the tail all over again.
@@procyonia3654 Thanks I appreciate you looking out for me.
Is the blue the original color
No. It was originally some shade of gray. I just did not want another gray machine so I went with some durable tractor paint.
