Hell yeah. I also know that when/if they come back, it may not be the TMV we remember. But for that glimmer of time that they occupied it was some of the most amazing music I've ever experienced. And I'm so happy I got the chance to do so. The next evolution will be their new form, and I'll appreciate that too. But I don't know if much can compare to the feelings TMV gave me for like a solid 10 years.
...No he wasn't lmao. His live stuff was messy and loud, his album takes were fire. not to say he didnt do some insane shit live, but theres more than plenty of times he overplayed and lost time.@@TheAlibabatree
I don’t think it was ever finished and they didn’t have enough time to finish it. They were being pressed to release it by the record label and it was being delayed more and more due to things Cedric was going through. They probably picked out some of the songs they really wanted on the album. I know Cedric really wanted In Absentia on the album.
Yeah I heard before the spilt Cedric was wanting to reunite the original line up with Ikey and Jon Theodore so I really hope that happens, Cedric told me this directly when i messaged him on twitter so its not just some rumor.
The Vicarious Atonement demo is major because it finally reveals Omar's metronome method. He had every artist compose their pieces on their own and then combined them later. Always wondered how that worked.
Loved it! Very jammy and when Cedric does come in he shines like the sun. Almost like Omar solo album yet distinctly Volta. How bout that Vicarious Atonement Demo? Oh lord, Cedric's vocals I'm melting! XD
I don't know man. This sounds like to me that they were really starting to get back into the groove of what TMV was originally. Nocturniquet was a really good album but this comp of unreleased stuff just trumps over it in my opinion. All I can do is hope TMV reunites and continues this beautiful work.
You have a TMV store ? Doesn't that require a time machine or do I have my acronyms mixed up ? Most important thing is that this album is so excellent my idiot grin has widened from chord one and remained in that state of idiot bliss throughout.
if you miss mars volta there is more than enough omar solo material (with and without cedric) for you to get your fix. Hell, there were 3 albums released in literally 4 days last new years day. I honestly don't understand how anyone who likes ATDI and TMV couldn't like Bosnian Rainbows unless you're just in it for the angst and aggression, which is not what BR is about. All I know is that I've put my faith in Omar and trust that whatever he is doing is the best shit ever and he never disappoints
The second song is raw and sick i love it, sounds like some old grungy badassness. As a whole these songs defenitely sound like the "new mars volta" which in my opinion was only good when they went mellow and made octahedron. Bedlam and noct are the reason its a good thing they stopped making music together. In my opinion these songs are better than any of bedlam and goliath or noctourniquet. Unfortunately Cedrics new music is awful without Omar. Omar is still making decent stuff with that lady friend of his, but she is no juliet lewis thats for sure.
This "album" was great I found this shortly after they broke up. It helped me accept the fact that they were done. I love "Clouds," "Postulate," and "Whisper to your Flinch/Peeling off."
Those verses on Whisper To Your Flinch are insanely good. The chorus is a little lackluster and I can see why they didn’t include it. That being said, I’ll find the verses randomly getting stuck in my head.
Hopefully in the future the mars volta will be a huge band including the works of flea, john fruscante, cedric omar and thomas pridgen. that would be amazinggggggggggggg.
Someone please help me: A track clearly by The Mars Volta called "Metatron" acquired through a *friend* that was about 19 minutes long in total length but was clearly not the actual "Metatron" track, I have never been able to find it since my old Zune died. Oh, I think it started with this sweet piano medley.

DEFINITELY Pridgen on Molochwalker demo, that "I got it I got it" is 100% him, and his 16" crash-hats are super easy to hear too.
@Jahmek Power No way. Pridgen was a great live drummer because of his timing and energy. But on the albums, he was terrible.
Pridgeon overdoes it imo. Jon Theodore was perfect for TMV.
