This has been a most interesting video for me. I used a Dickey John seed monitor the first year they were sold . They had MANY problems. Dickey John was a small compeny formed by farmers just south of Springfield Illinois, and were the for runners of all seed monitoring . I was told John Deere bought them out and went from there. I am 88 years old and long since retired but sure enjoy your video.

Thousands of gallons of toxins sprayed in the soil and water to grow food that's bioengineered and genetically modified to be poisonous. The insects that eat it die.
Currently, 26 countries including France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Russia, China, and India (19 of which are in the European Union (EU)) have partially or fully banned GMOs. I like how the wings of the corn planter come down. That is pretty cool. Now I understand tractors need auto stir, there is alot of data to look at. I like to now how many acres in one field, I bet over a 100 acres, or not more.

I borrowed a seed drill ounce and the owner had not used in a while. Started sewing the seeds and noticed I was missing a few rows. By the time I got everything sorted out, I found caterpillar cocoons clogging the feed tubes. My solution to this dilemma was to change the hoses to clear food grade see throughs. This made it easier to inspect the hose for obstructions. 🤔🤔😁

One comment I would like to make is that I have learned to work smarter, not harder. I suggest the forklift (or a telehandler, etc) to lift the pallet so either of you don't get hurt getting the bags up there. We don't want to see all y'all getting hurt.
Best of luck with the crops!

you ought to keep your eye out for a telehandler or a regular fork lift or use a loader bucket so you can just off lift your seed bags right into your planter and save your back and it would get you back in the feild alot faster.. love the videos keep em coming.

I'm an old man now, but when I was younger, I worked on a farm here in Georgia where the farmer grew a lot of soybean and corn. I ran a bush hog, repaired combines, grain drills, tractors, motor graders, etc. You get the picture. The worst part of the job was that he had a lot of Johnson Grass, which was sporadic and had to be sprayed by hand with a pump-up sprayer that I wore like a backpack. I walked miles, down row after row, having to return to my service vehicle time after time to to refill my tank. It seems like, with all the good that you are fortunate to enjoy in this short life, disappointments and failures are just part of the human condition. You are so lucky to have the life you have with Grant, (and Pepper). What a beautiful life you have. My parents were drunks and left us kids with nothing. I am retired now. I am 68 years old. Glaucoma took out my left eye. I live on Social Security. I have lived with my little sister for the last 10 years. Unfortunately, she passed away last month. And I have to get out of this house by next week. I fell into a pattern of helping the women in my family because no one else would do it. I took care of my grandmother until she passed away, then my Mom for 18 years until she passed away, and then my little sister until she passed away on March 8th of this year. They all developed illnesses, ranging from old age, lung cancer, Crohn's disease and Lymphoma. In doing so, I deprived myself from accomplishing what I needed to do to make sure that I did not end up homeless. I failed in that respect and have to figure out what I can do to survive. Never thought I would end up here. But, you have to deal with what life throws at you. I have a Harley and all the camping gear I need. So, I guess I am off on a new adventure. Do not know where I will end up, but if you ever need a dependable farm hand that is focused on your goals, and who has a CDL, (don't know if I could pass the D.O.T. physical, with the Glaucoma), but, I can still drive a truck. I actually love driving 18-wheelers. I really miss it. I know this was lengthy. But, I also know you are a people person and you actually care. What a refreshing youtube channel to be a part of. Wish I had met someone like you when I was young. Love the channel and the content. Very smart and very adorable. Grant is sooooo lucky. Love you guys and good luck with year's planting.

You could use a lean approach to tools for implements - make a small tool box on the planter itself with all (or most of) the necessary tools for frequent maintenance. These tools will be always there and you will always know where to put it and where to find it when it's needed.
The same could apply to other machinery. Doesn't cost much, but saves you a lot of time.

As someone who has been with this channel from day one let me say that you have the thoughts and prayers of a whole bunch of us behind you. I am psyched up for yet another season and I know you'll deal with whatever unpredictable problems this cycle throws at you with class and good cheer. (and teach us all something along the way too!)

I remember from age 6 to 16 , it’s back in the 70 and 80’S , yes 49 years ago ,I have worked for a farmer, he had around 3000 access , at the end of winter here in Quebec we where 4 to 6 kids that was removing the corn seeds from the cob , can you imagine doing that with 2 manual stripper and other kids doing it by hands , , it was taking around 3 weeks , then planting the corn seeds was done with a John-deer model 40 from the 50’S with a 4 rows planter and with a farmall super 40 from the 40’S also with a 4 rows planter , it was taking a full month with the 2 tractors and at least 1 yes planting 24/24 . Then I our dry part of the summer that is end of July and early August, laying km of pipe to irrigate with an old water pump driven by a 8 inch wide strap from the farmall super 40 .

I know it is a good upper body workout, but if you put the seed bags on a pallet you could use your fancy equipment to lift it to a comfortable level. Or am I just a NOOB?

50lb is equal to 22.68 kg. You will have to get use to the metric system like I did in Australia some 46 years ago or so (gee has it been that long ago!). But I still use the imperial system to a point so I do understand what you are talking about.( your boot is about one foot in length so it is still a good measuring device ). And as for that new metric tractor toolbar that you referred to in the last clip, the metric system will come more common wether you like or not!

I was thinking about the fact that I have never ridden in a tractor, and we chatted a bit about the possibility of me riding with you….after watching you enter and exit through the small space by the tires and that huge yellow tank, I’m not so sure that I can squeeze through that same space 😮😂

You need not be nervous about planting season beyond a reasonable level of caution. You have trained yourself, you have gained knowledge. Yes things will go wrong and that is when your knowledge kicks in. You can fix it. You can call upon others for knowledge, and fix it. You will be on your feet and moving in no time. Hurray for planting season!

You have forks on one of your machines, so use it to lift the pallet up to empty the bags of corn

I so look forward to your first planting video every year and have done so since your first post when you were planting in April of 2020 at which time I right away subscribed. Love your enthusiasm for farming which I share. The main reason I chose farming as a career is that I really like raising, especially corn, and soybeans in the Midwest. Very familiar with your and Grant's machinery and I watch and enjoy your videos with intensity. I'm glad Hamilton County missed the tornado outbreak(s); and after checking the satellite view of the weather here in Northeast Missouri, I usually have a look at what your weather is.😊😊

Grant and Laura love your channel. You're both young and strong but why don't you lift the pallet up with your reach fork truck to the tank level on the planter and load the seeds from there? Save your backs you have a long life to work ahead of you. Work smarter not harder.

Lifting the whole pallet of seed using the telehandler up to the seed tanks would surely be easier than going bag by bag up the ladder
