Thank you for your videos. I'm a rock nut. I can't mine anymore because of my back but I guess I revisit minning through watching you. I live near Atlanta GA.
If you want to make a trip of a lifetime start In Kentucky and work your way South into Ga. Starting with Emeralds and Aquamarine in Kentucky rubies and moonstone, Sapphires and loads of Amathyst. The veriations of minerals and gemstones doesn't end. Unbelievable finds like a 100kt giant blue topaz form Cherokee North Carolina.
I found a beautiful vain of quartz crystals that are so clear they look like diamonds with double terminated beauty's. One mile from the town of Loganville Ga. Where I lived at the time. Ga should have a nick name of quartz. The weather is unbearable from July through September, keep that in mind.
The diopside was amazing. Loved that.
Love to you and your family,
    Sandra Baker

Mmmm, that tremolite is nice! Loved the footage of the fall foliage too--ours have just begun to turn, and my neighbor's pear tree is the brightest thing on the block right now, so appreciate the gorgeous view up north.

LOL. Yeah, you should really visit Florida's swamps to look for Orchids. I recommend Fakahatchee. Bring hip waders and plenty of food for the gators.

Don't know if you could help out, I see you live in Guelph, I live outside of Fergus and was wondering if there was anywhere local where I could get my feet wet and give this rockhounding thing a try.
Funny enough I use to live outside of Eldorado near Marmora where there seems to be lots of action.

Non related to this video, I went to the McGlashan mine 2 times and I know I was on the right street because I found it on sites and as well it matched your videos. I looked the first time scouring through the forest on the right side then the second all along the hillside for hours and checked everywhere but never saw the big pit and not even sure if I found the smaller ones. I know I was I was on the right road. Where did I go wrong?

I live in Rideau Lakes and have always been interested in rock collecting. I have looked online but cannot find any information on what might be found near where I live.
You seem to be very knowledgeable about what can be found throughout Ontario and so I was wondering if you might know what might be around my area-Delta to be exact.
Any information you can offer would be very much appreciated.

Just was living in delta last summer, found tourmaline, calcite, hematite, blue quartz, tiny quartz crystals and a couple other things. Up in Perth you can find orange calcite and green apatite and Lyndhurst has quartz crystals in the area, huge ones if you're lucky.

I have a question I hope you(or anyone) could help me with.
Since learning to pick things up, my youngest has been stuffing her pockets with interesting rocks.
This summer I laid a pathway of 1inch white stone from Canadian Tire and she immediately when searching for, then tried to sell us the prettiest ones.
Well, 1 had some green crystal in it that had a dull glow if held to a flashlight. It smelled like calcium so I plunked it in vinegar and most of the white dissolved or turned to sand size clear gains. Now I have a good sized green crystal that really lights up.
    Any ideas?
Great vids. Some of these places are real close by and we’re looking forward to going in spring

@4:58 when you're discussing diopside, I have a question about that (and if I've asked this of you before, please forgive--Old Timer's Disease!) My absolute favorite green gem is Chrome Diopside. What is the difference between the diopside in the picture, which is opaque, and the beautiful deep green gemmy Chrome Diopside? Thanks in advance! And liked the video even before watching!
