This was five years ago. He is now tall, 6' 3" handsome to the core. He Is a singer, male model, owns his own music and production studios. Has won the MTV Friday night sing off several weeks in a row. He is known all over the world. Has just released his first self produced video along with a song he wrote. He has a Masters degree in Music Composition. Highly intelligent. Well spoken. Has friend the like of Jackie Chan and The fabulous Maestro, Igor Krutoy and of course his best friends he attended music and academic school with. I hope you were impressed enough to continue reacting to him.
I only recently discovered Dimash after ignoring him in my TH-cam recommendations for over a year. I figured he was just the latest pop "sensation" and I generally do not listen to that genre of music. I am almost embarrassed to admit that I have since watched hours upon hours of reactions to his various performances. I mostly watch reactions from professional vocal coaches, many with backgrounds in Opera. I really enjoy your videos, and like you, I am absolutely amazed by his incredible talent, ability, vocal range and dynamics, his delivery, as well as his stage presence. He has diligently honed his craft and developed his God-given gift for more than 20 years now and it shows. I read somewhere that Dimash used to swim 3 hours every day to develop the capacity of his lungs. It's not just a raw talent but tremendous work to achieve this level of performance. From what I gathered, he started singing lessons at 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university-educated with degrees in classical/opera, contemporary music, pop, and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has recently completed his Master's with a concentration in Composition. He graduated with Honours, having achieved a perfect score of 100%. He is currently working towards his Ph.D. as he wants to teach music after his singing career. His range is about 7 octaves now but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a much-loved national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it. He also plays six instruments; the dombra, piano, drums, guitar, xylophone, and cello.
I've been following him since his first appearance on Singer China, and I'm still as hooked as I was that first time I heard him. I've found that watching reactors discover and more importantly, appreciate Dimash's talent makes me feel almost like I did that first time. Mind you, this happens with every new song of his I hear. That was the first song for the first session of the I Am Singer Annual Comp in China in 2017, so all the contestants followed him. He broke Chinese internet with that song overnight with 600+ million views, and woke up to having guards outside his bedroom door who accompanied him for about 3 months of the competition. This song, SOS, propelled Dimash into Chinese and Russian, and international fame in one go....and it was a cover from the French Canadian rock opera Starmania.
Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan. The song “SOS” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the five most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash performed here at the 2017 "I AM A SINGER" competition. It is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers where the audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. The competition consisted of 14 rounds and lasts almost 4 months. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest given that he was completely unknown to the audience. He had been invited as a wildcard and was the first foreigner and youngest person to ever compete in the show. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th, for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian.

This video was my first introduction to Dimash, in July of 2019! I fell hard! Not knowing the words he was singing didn't make a bit of difference! He touched, and still does, a place in my heart, my soul that I truly don't believe has ever seen light before! Essentially a national Chinese show with something like 600 million TV/web viewers. Great show with a full live orchestra plus extra ethnic instruments. This was the first song of the first night of the 2017 show and he was mostly alone in China, not knowing more than a handful of Chinese travel/survival words. Singing in French to a Chinese audience. The organizers asked the audience to give him a warm welcome to break the ice a little, since he was unknown there. The next morning he needed bodyguards to go shopping.
EVERYONE went after him, and most of them were stunned. The Singer is a 13 episode contest for established professionals in China - and this was Dimash's first performance in China. He was a complete unknown - they asked the audience to give him a warm welcome, and they did. This song went viral overnight, getting millions of views, and he woke up the next day a full-fledged pop star in China. They expected him to be voted off after the second performance - instead, he won 2nd place overall, (and a first for SOS and for his second performance, Opera 2). You're right about opera - he's trained in both classical and contemporary vocals, and was offered a position at Astana Opera, which he refused. Greetings to the owner and guests of this channel…! ARTIST FACTS: DIMASH KUDAIBERGEN is a Kazakh singer, songwriter, & multi-instrumentalist. Born in Aktobe Kazakhstan, Central Asia: May 24, 1994. He was trained in classical & contemporary music, and is well known for his exceptional widest vocal range. I still browse the music videos of Dimash from time to time to see what still store in there. I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it, to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. How he was able to develop such a heights of his talents is really admirable and worth learning and imitating. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition. The discipline, dedication and high ideals in pursuing his career the best he can is worth imitating not only in our individual professional fields but also in living out our day to day life. His hard work for years is indeed bearing good fruits in abundance. And so my heartfelt congratulations to Dimash and his family and all others who supported him all the way through as a musician. For me as a public listener it counts a lot the personal disposition of the artist and the good content and message of its music. I like this music because it reminds me the Truth, Realities and Precariousness of Human Life particularly Suffering and Death) SONG FACTS: The song is from French Rock Opera called Starmania. Originally it was sung by Daniel Balavoine who had a sudden death in a helicopter accident in 1986, who is known of his beautiful voice. Later, it was covered by Gregory Lemarchal, a young French singer who inspired Dimash to sing “SOS d'un terrien en detresse” who at all odds won the 4th series Reality TV Program Star Academy, despite his failing health and became an overnight success in France but had a shorter career, for he died young with his unusual illness of Cystic Fibrosis in 2007 at the age of 23. Recently it was unbelievably covered by Dimash and from time to time Dimash sung it in memory of his great friend Denis Ten an Olympic figure skater from Kazakhstan who was stabbed after a dispute with people who allegedly tried to steal a mirror from his car in his home city of Almaty. He died of massive blood loss from multiple wounds at the age of 25 in 2018. The song has sad lyrics: “a soul’s plea for help or an earthly being in distress” because it is a human being who is in anguish searching for the absolute. MY THOUGHTS AND OPINION OF THIS SONG (REF CCC): Suffering and death is one of the realities of human life. It is important that we should know the basic truth about it, so that it will not cause us fear and distress in our human life’s , but rather to remind us all of our ultimate destiny as people of faith. For me, there are 3 kinds of suffering we experienced in life: 1st suffering that God allows, 2nd suffering which is the results of our own choices and decisions and 3rd is the suffering which is cause by other people to us. In whatever forms of suffering we are experiencing, know that, if it is discerned well it will gain us eternal merit. Note that, it is not important how much and how long we suffer, or who cause us to suffer, but how is our attitude towards it when it comes into our life…? All of these three can be an opportunity of grace that we will grow in virtue, when we accept it with humility, discernment and faith in God. Our usual human tendency is, if we can, we try to avoid any kind of pain and suffering in our life. However we can’t deny also that life is mixed up of many learning experiences both in joys and in difficulties and I supposed we need it both, because it contributes and helps us mature and grow over time in many aspects of life. Suffering and death may seem contrary to our own human thinking or world’s way of thinking but in it, there’s a certain wisdom which is richer and deeper that no one can fully understand. They, nor the audience, had ever heard Dimash sing since the show was for popular Chinese artists. Dimash was the first foreigner, as well as the youngest (22 years old) to ever compete on Singer. Ok... now that you have been Dimashified, SOS is the first to start from this contest "I'm a singer" in China 2017, he was only 22 yo... The 1st episode was broadcast in early January 2018, next day the TV director had to send bodyguards to he's apartment, because Dinash already won 60 million views/likes on the oficial China's kind of "instagram"... and was making the internet go crazy crashing pages, etc... All those contestants are very well known and established professional singers in the territory of China. DQ was the youngest, the 1st stranger contestant, a "wild card" invited from Kazakhistan, they thought he would only last for 2 or 3 weeks... he stayed till the end, won 2nd prize because was a stranger, but later, in China, he won the prestigious national prize and award for the best foreign artist and song of the year. For 3 years he stayed in China between flights to other countries and other concerts. He also was awarded in he's country, the Ministry of Culture sponsored he's first solo concert in Kazakhstan, D-Dinasty BASTAU Concert, and honored him in some diplomatic and cultural events, and the title of "Treasure of Kazakhstan", etc... US is not the centre of the world, much less Hollywood... The world is much bigger then your backyard. Cultural diversity is what makes people rich and aware of other cultural events and personalities... So is Dimash, a giant googled as " the best voice in the world" , with he's fans from all 5 continents, more then 150 different countries, and concerts of more then 30, 60 or 150 K people (like in Gakku) with fans from dozens of different nationalities sold out in hours every time... I only recently discovered Dimash after ignoring him in my TH-cam recommendations for over a year. I figured he was just the latest pop "sensation" and I generally do not listen to that genre of music. I am almost embarrassed to admit that I have since watched hours upon hours of reactions to his various performances. I mostly watch reactions from professional vocal coaches, many with backgrounds in Opera. I really enjoy your videos, and like you, I am absolutely amazed by his incredible talent, ability, vocal range and dynamics, his delivery, as well as his stage presence. He has diligently honed his craft and developed his God-given gift for more than 20 years now and it shows. I read somewhere that Dimash used to swim 3 hours every day to develop the capacity of his lungs. It's not just a raw talent but tremendous work to achieve this level of performance.
From what I gathered, he started singing lessons at 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university-educated with degrees in classical/opera, contemporary music, pop, and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has recently completed his Master's with a concentration in Composition. He graduated with Honours, having achieved a perfect score of 100%. He is currently working towards his Ph.D. as he wants to teach music after his singing career.
His range is about 7 octaves now but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a much-loved national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it. He also plays six instruments; the dombra, piano, drums, guitar, xylophone, and cello.

I've been following him since his first appearance on Singer China, and I'm still as hooked as I was that first time I heard him. I've found that watching reactors discover and more importantly, appreciate Dimash's talent makes me feel almost like I did that first time. Mind you, this happens with every new song of his I hear. Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan. The song “SOS” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the five most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash performed here at the 2017 "I AM A SINGER" competition. It is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers where the audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. The competition consisted of 14 rounds and lasts almost 4 months. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only.
This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest given that he was completely unknown to the audience. He had been invited as a wildcard and was the first foreigner and youngest person to ever compete in the show. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th, for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian.

Great show with a full live orchestra plus extra ethnic instruments. This was the first song of the first night of the 2017 show and he was mostly alone in China, not knowing more than a handful of Chinese travel/survival words. Singing in French to a Chinese audience. The organizers asked the audience to give him a warm welcome to break the ice a little, since he was unknown there. The next morning he needed bodyguards to go shopping.

He was a complete unknown - they asked the audience to give him a warm welcome, and they did. They expected him to be voted off after the second performance - instead, he won 2nd place overall, (and a first for SOS and for his second performance, Opera 2).
You're right about opera - he's trained in both classical and contemporary vocals, and was offered a position at Astana Opera, which he refused. Dimash has a a pitch perfect range of 6 octaves plus 5 semitones that goes off both ends of a piano keyboard. He has been classically trained since age 5. I still browse the music videos of Dimash from time to time to see what still store in there. I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it, to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. How he was able to develop such a heights of his talents is really admirable and worth learning and imitating. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition.
The discipline, dedication and high ideals in pursuing his career the best he can is worth imitating not only in our individual professional fields but also in living out our day to day life. His hard work for years is indeed bearing good fruits in abundance. And so my heartfelt congratulations to Dimash and his family and all others who supported him all the way through as a musician. For me as a public listener it counts a lot the personal disposition of the artist and the good content and message of its music.
The fact that, he is able to sing his music at maximum or more than 6 octaves with ease and comfort in different languages and in various voices is really amazing. But some others also cannot handle and cannot even believe the power, the strength and the heights of his voice…and they said Ooh… is Dimash human..? Alien..? Etc, I think It’s just a natural reaction that people wonder and be surprise by it or cannot even believed it at all, it’s because it is beyond human expectation.
I believed that Dimash 21 year’s cultivation of his voice and talents is no tricks and no magic at all; though he is gifted by God with grace for music but his years of hard work of practice and experiences proved it to us and to the world … that indeed it is possible. My other concern whenever I listen to music is that, I usually ask: WHAT MESSAGE THIS MUSIC BRINGS ..? TO THE WORLD..? TO PEOPLE..?
Although Dimash music are very good, full of content and meaning but I like most this music, because for me it speaks a message of truth, values and realities of human life. I feel that, it is not just enough to give my thumbs up to like this music, but I’m deeply moved to share something more about the richness and deeper meaning of it.
With due respect to the composers, writers and singers of these music for whatever their purpose and intention would be, will always take precedence. The thoughts that I will be sharing below is only the fruits of my personal reflections based on the things that I highly valued and on how I perceived it myself and the message of this song that reaches out to me. I like this music because it reminds me the Truth, Realities and Precariousness of Human Life particularly Suffering and Death)
SONG FACTS: The song is from French Rock Opera called Starmania. Originally it was sung by Daniel Balavoine who had a sudden death in a helicopter accident in 1986, who is known of his beautiful voice. Later, it was covered by Gregory Lemarchal, a young French singer who inspired Dimash to sing “SOS d'un terrien en detresse” who at all odds won the 4th series Reality TV Program Star Academy, despite his failing health and became an overnight success in France but had a shorter career, for he died young with his unusual illness of Cystic Fibrosis in 2007 at the age of 23.
Recently it was unbelievably covered by Dimash and from time to time Dimash sung it in memory of his great friend Denis Ten an Olympic figure skater from Kazakhstan who was stabbed after a dispute with people who allegedly tried to steal a mirror from his car in his home city of Almaty. He died of massive blood loss from multiple wounds at the age of 25 in 2018. The song has sad lyrics: “a soul’s plea for help or an earthly being in distress” because it is a human being who is in anguish searching for the absolute.
MY THOUGHTS AND OPINION OF THIS SONG (REF CCC): Suffering and death is one of the realities of human life. It is important that we should know the basic truth about it, so that it will not cause us fear and distress in our human life’s , but rather to remind us all of our ultimate destiny as people of faith. For me, there are 3 kinds of suffering we experienced in life:
1st suffering that God allows, 2nd suffering which is the results of our own choices and decisions and 3rd is the suffering which is cause by other people to us. In whatever forms of suffering we are experiencing, know that, if it is discerned well it will gain us eternal merit. Note that, it is not important how much and how long we suffer, or who cause us to suffer, but how is our attitude towards it when it comes into our life…? All of these three can be an opportunity of grace that we will grow in virtue, when we accept it with humility, discernment and faith in God.
Our usual human tendency is, if we can, we try to avoid any kind of pain and suffering in our life. However we can’t deny also that life is mixed up of many learning experiences both in joys and in difficulties and I supposed we need it both, because it contributes and helps us mature and grow over time in many aspects of life. Suffering and death may seem contrary to our own human thinking or world’s way of thinking but in it, there’s a certain wisdom which is richer and deeper that no one can fully understand.
Suffering reminds us the real fact that we are all fragile human beings; that we are limited and we are not God. Sufferings are human reality and consequences of sin that affects us all. It helps us see the real worth and value of things and meaning in life. It sharpens our awareness that this earth is not our permanent and true home. We should remember that we are only strangers and pilgrims on this earth”.
Suffering purifies and refines us of any life’s superficiality into an authentic one. Though no one really is actively searching for suffering in his / her life, but honestly truth compels us to admit that sufferings do have a great value in our life and by experiencing it personally in reality, you will never be the same person. But through the original sin that enters human lives, our nature has been wounded, and is now subject to suffering and death.
Death for us is a frightening mystery because we are being stripped off of all our attachments to this world; our body lies corrupt; our immortal soul goes to meet the Lord. We will see the whole truth of our lives. Death creates in us a feelings of fear, separation, sadness and pain.
Many times we evade this reality and we try to question and even argue with God why…? But all our efforts failed because whether we like it or not at the end, we all die. This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
In 2017 Dimash received a wild-card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant of all time (22 years) and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part. Nobody knew or hear Dimash before and he also had to start first... and after this song Dimash captured the hearts of millions of viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood at his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds, over 4 months. The jury consists of 500 spectators. With up to 1 billion people see this tv-program, that's generated international interest. The performances were uploaded to TH-cam... and so, we became Dimash’s Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition and go home again. They didn't really believe in him. But Dimash came, sang and stayed... for the next 3 years in China... but he only finished second in the competition because he's not Chinese (conditions have changed: The next year, Jessie J. won).🌼🇩🇪
👉 In January 2021 Dimash was one of the few foreigners who has been asked to attend the live online show marking the inauguration of the President of U.S.A. Joe Biden. He is here as a representative of his country Kazakhstan and he is also here for his Dears from all over the world. He performed:

As amazing as that performance was, it's just a small sample of his incredible talent. There is so much more for you to discover about Dimash. This was the first performance of Singer 2017 season, and the people in the green room were his competitors. They, nor the audience, had ever heard Dimash sing since the show was for popular Chinese artists. Dimash was the first foreigner, as well as the youngest (22 years old) to ever compete on Singer. He was brought in as a wildcard by the producer of the show. He took second place, mostly due to politics, but was invited back as a guest performer in 2018 and 2019. Who had to sing behind him? Dimash has a masters in music studies, both classical and contemporary. And was a serious student of the voice from a young age. And read he is going for his PhD. He also plays several instruments and sings in 6+ languages, and is studying English.

Ok... now that you have been Dimashified, SOS is the first to start from this contest "I'm a singer" in China 2017, he was only 22 yo... The 1st episode was broadcast in early January 2018, next day the TV director had to send bodyguards to he's apartment, because Dinash already won 60 million views/likes on the oficial China's kind of "instagram"... and was making the internet go crazy crashing pages, etc...
All those contestants are very well known and established professional singers in the territory of China. DQ was the youngest, the 1st stranger contestant, a "wild card" invited from Kazakhistan, they thought he would only last for 2 or 3 weeks... he stayed till the end, won 2nd prize because was a stranger, but later, in China, he won the prestigious national prize and award for the best foreign artist and song of the year. For 3 years he stayed in China between flights to other countries and other concerts.
He also was awarded in he's country, the Ministry of Culture sponsored he's first solo concert in Kazakhstan, D-Dinasty BASTAU Concert, and honored him in some diplomatic and cultural events, and the title of "Treasure of Kazakhstan", etc...
US is not the centre of the world, much less Hollywood... The world is much bigger then your backyard.
Cultural diversity is what makes people rich and aware of other cultural events and personalities...
So is Dimash, a giant googled as " the best voice in the world" , with he's fans from all 5 continents, more then 150 different countries, and concerts of more then 30, 60 or 150 K people (like in Gakku) with fans from dozens of different nationalities sold out in hours every time... (in NY/2019 concert there were 80 nationalities).
