- I have been Dimashified yet again!! My goodness this was an AMAZING performance! I really enjoyed getting to hear him sing in a new style and genre!! This performance also gave me a glimpse into how sweet and humble Dimash is, and it makes me want to get to know him more!
I also just wanted to say THANK YOU to the DEAR FANDOM for welcoming me in so sweetly! I have so enjoyed reading all of your comments and learning about Dimash! I'll be posting my reaction to 'Stranger' hopefully later this week!

(Hope he has his money out of Russia. ) But we also know he has part ownership in one of the main Russian TV stations and various other music business interests such as record companies, etc. He owns several multimillion dollar mansions in several countries such as Florida, Moscow, etc. And is considered a music mogul in Russia. Very influential composer and he adores Dimash. 😁 (edited to add that it was reported his owned assets totaled 13 billion a few years ago but with current sanctions and devaluing of Russian currency, his money worth would be lower now unless he socked it away in other countries. His family lives in his 17 million dollar estate in Florida which he visited often but not sure how safe he would be if he left Russia for the USA right now. )
This song was originally done by a Kazakhstan band called A Studio. The singer had died. Dimash then stepped in and sang this song. The original band members are accompanying him. So the audience knew very well the song.
Also, the chant in the middle of the song is a Kazak traditional death tribute chant. Dimash put it in as tribute to the original singer. Also, the audience would have recognized this for what it is.

Sinful Passion - The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakhstani pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). The dead singer (to whom Dimash was a fan) left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

He didn’t win the Voice. He competed in the Chinese competition I Am the Singer and placed 2nd to a famous actress/singer. I suggest SOS from episode one. He opened the show and no one, including his fellow competitors (who adore him because of his personality) had never heard him sing. Watch the jaws hit the floor. After that first episode, he needed a security detail because of the fans treating him like the 2nd coming of the Beatles. Enjoy this rabbit hole as there are dozens of performances that will blow your mind. Dimash refers to his fans as “dears” as they are very dear to him. I think you already are a dear.

Loved your reaction again 😂, it’s truly so much fun reliving the Dimash journey with someone else’s fresh eyes. When you said, I wasn’t ready, we rarely are, his performance styles and vocal technique changes frequently within many compositions, which keeps us mesmerized and captivated. I love how he doesn’t rush through the story he is telling, Love Is Like A Dream is another story, they all are, but Dimash is the best vocal storyteller, he can just lull you into another realm, which is actually what he wants to do, to give us an experience that allows us to escape from reality ❤.

He is a righteous man, humble and funny. He once got hated by a judge because he dropped out of a competition mid way in the US because He doesn't want to compete with the children. He tried to explain how important the children are to him because in his country, Children are treasures that should not be stepped on by the adults or exploited in anyway. He explained that He asked beforehand if the competition involves children (which of course, the show hid from him) prior to signing the contract. He was instead humiliated by the judge. I've never been a fan of any singer all my life, until Dimash happened.

DIMASH is a regular sweetheart of the highest level. He shows appreciation and regard to his band members and give credit to their efforts; that is just DIMASH in all his splendor. The fact that all that is straight from the heart shows he is a special person that is not all "full of himself" but means what he says. Many performers with his talent do not know how to be humble and show appreciation for others or devotion to his fans. He is the real deal.

What I love about Dimash is that he sounds exquisite at any range, which is incredible in and of itself. Also, his voice has so many colors and tone to it, not mentioning his vocal dynamics. His voice is soaring only to express his intense emotions, whether it’s a cry for help (SOS), a yearning (Samaltau), or to express pain or loss (The Story of One Sky). Dimash, being a composer himself (“Unforgettable Day”- Ұмытылмас күн, The Story of One Sky, El Amor en Ti…) knows exactly how the song he interprets must be delivered.
Indeed, Dimash does not use his vocal abilities to show off, but to serve the song: through his voice, he’s telling us a story. In short, he’s not only a masterful vocalist - It’s precisely thanks to his mastery that Dimash is able to freely dive, and tap, into his emotions; but also an amazing storyteller. Above all, he’s a soulful, genuine, passionate, and humble artist.
At last, know that Dimash is classically trained - he even declined a position as an opera singer when he was only 22, and has absolute pitch (a rare cognitive trait by the way) which was discovered when he was only 5 years old.

Thank you for your reaction! Dimash’s talent is mind blowing 🤯 A'Studio was invited by Igor Krutoy to participate (individual concert) in the 2018 edition of the New Wave festival. Igor Krutoy, the man in white shirt giving his standing ovation, invited Dimash to participate in this festival in the same year. "Sinful Passion" was created in 1998. This is how the song was performed, exactly in the 20th anniversary of this song. It speaks of greater love, greater loss, greater despair, greater desire, greater passion. The loss or lack of this love, in Dimash's interpretation, has the dimension of a loss of life, which one is very anxious to restore. In place of the original purely pop instrumental part (inserts), Dimash included (after the last chorus) his vocalize, a stylized onomatopoeic (like a lament) eastern ornament and the words "дай мне, дай" (give me, give me) with a 23-second melismatic on the last syllable, which is not a simple substitute for a pop musical theme, but an extension of the story sung earlier in words. ❤️🎤🔝🌹🌹👏👏👏

The band named A'Studio that accompanies Dimash, is the same one that composed the song minus the lead singer named Batyrkhan Shukenov, who died of a heart attack in 2015. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, (the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.) The tones in the middle are oriental Arab technique (or traditional qazaq singing, called Joqtaw. It is a lament to the deceased singer). The last run is 24 seconds on 1 breath.

Dimash was not on "The Voice" but on the Chinese show "I am a singer" and came second there. But you have to keep in mind, this show is not for amateurs but for established well known singers. He was there as a wildcard as an exception. This show ran for several weeks and there are many episodes of his plays that he sang there.
A little tip, if you want to say something about what you are hearing, just take a short break with the video and then many of them rewind and then continue. So you don't overspeak the running video, but of course I understand the overwhelming experience that just makes you react.
