  • Steve Dangle, Adam Wylde and Jesse Blake discuss the Yaroslav Askarov trade. Did the San Jose Sharks really win the deal when you dig deeper? Why did Nashville even move him int eh first place?

if it's too much on the cap, you could always Askerov the team.

I have been saying something like this since day 1! Askarov could've stayed, proved he is a great backup, and proved he can be a great 1A/1B goaltender. Then after maybe an easy cup win as a backup/1B tends. He could go on to a different team, or even better beat Saros out as the better, younger, and eventually better paid goalie all before age 26!!!

He didn't want to be the backup, went crying and wouldn't show up

@@jonah.donohueI mean having two nhl goalies locked up and saros for 8 years he would probably be stuck with being a backup until he it 28… better to get out now

You can't tell until you see what comes out of the draft. I am leaning towards Nashville being the winner. Not sure why the Sharks needed to jump on an Nhl ready player when they need those high picks

Because we had 0 good goalies in the pipeline and a million forwards also the Vegas pick probably won’t be high

I don't know about that. Sharks address a need, give up a back up and a 3C prospect and a pick in the 15-20 range. I think Sharks did great

@Inub0i yes but you have to look past this year, are the sharks competing next year? They get a goalie and the 1st rounder, maybe they finish higher up the standing with the new goalie. How much term is on Askerovs contract, will their team be relevant by the time his contract expires?

@Inub0i it wasn't a bad trade for either side as of now, but time will always tell of course.
