Great review been waiting to hear the test drive review for a while, i liked the Ford Ranger because in terms of price they seem relatively less than Toyota but the more I listen is the more I dont like it because of the general negative feedback
Apparently the latest Ranger bakkies with a 2.0L engine are less problematic compared to the older 3.2L and the 2.2L.
At work we have 3 of those 2.2 models, bought 3 years ago we've never had any issues... we also have 3.2s, bought in 2016, never had any issues. They are driven daily, and we only do the servicing... so I think the turbo issues are over now.
I agree with u on the 0 to 100..., the 2.2s are slow hey!
If I were to buy it personally, I'll wait for the new model and well...actually I like the Raptor...but sigudla nawe kwipoverty line 😆 🤣
the 2.2 manual is fast the auto strays away from the torque curve it shifts at like 2k rpm or 3 if ur in sport mode

An SUV for me anytime. These just dont make sense for my current lifestyle. Thanks for the review. The previous 2.2 had better consumption over a long distance. I have owned a fortuner gd6 2.8 4x4. It was one of the best car we have owned but 4x4 was used once or twice,
How was the fuel consumption on the fortuner?
@@MuziSambo very relative to the size of the car its heavy on short distances but significantly better on long distance. A 2.4 should fare better if you not going to tow big stuff.

You must be a professional driver to be behind the wheel of this thing, for someone like me who have only driven a hatchback, it will be a nightmare to manoeuvre this thing. Talking from experience, when you're in a driver's seat,it feels like the takes two full lanes😆😆😆 when you're at a junction, you turn like a code 14 truck especially on narrow roads.. I think it better with an automatic transmission though..
It's hard to recommend any Ranger at this moment because of the pricing, they are going crazy. Take a look at the XLT which have everything you need and then after that there is a FX4, Wildtrack, THUNDER, STORMTRACK then the Raptor. So how much do you think the new one will cost? Maybe from R650k all the way to R 1 million for the top of the range, probably the Wildtrack.
I struggle with parking and reversing out of tight spots when I'm driving a double cab😩
I think the base price for the new ford ranger will be R700k
It is a handful to maneuver in tight places

Compares combined claimed fuel average while driving on bumpy roads in City driving. Also, 4x4 weights more than 2 wheel drive.
These rangers usually get gearbox problems, and also for manuals it has a very loud click sound when shifting gears
Nice video 👍 keep them coming, the car has a good interior and it looks nice. But when compared to a Hilux the Hilux is superior. Also the fuel consumption is too much

Waiting for the new one is best. And when it comes and you don't like it, then the old one will be good cause for sure dealers will also want to get them off the showroom floors, therefore you'll get a good price on these old ones.

If you are testing the vehicle and driving within a distance of 20km or so you won't realise anything close to the claimed fuel consumption rate. Throw the bakkie on the open roads and you will start realising some savings. Big cars in built up areas are a total madness with regard to fuel consumption.
I drive a LR Defender PUMA with a Ford engine and I get average consumption between 7L-8L/100. I seldom go beyond 8.
What I have noticed about Ford cars is fuel consumption is bit high even if you compare small cars like Polo Vivo, Etios and Figo you will find Figo chowing petrol more than it's competitors
The old fiesta was worse. I know some who once bought it and returned it after 6 months because it was chowing too much petrol.
@@MuziSambo I once read that the factory claimed fuel consumption of 2005 - 2007 Fiesta 1.4 is 9.9L/100km

For me as you've said, it's quite smooth. I find it to be more comfortable than the Toyota. Where I work we mostly travel off-road. So when comparing between the Ford & Toyota, I just choose the Ford.

I have been driving 1 for almost 2 years the average fuel consumption is about 10.3 driving city and long distance.
If the average of this was 11.5 imagine on the 3.2 or the new 2.0 biturbo
the 3.2 is a gas guzzler, wildtrak owners are complaining, the 2.0 is okay not bad but it also guzzles
