  • Recorded at 1 AM EST in true Reserved Investments fashion. Welcome back to Reserved Investments! This is part seven of my 16K Q & A series, which means there is only one more video left for the entire 16K Q & A series (part eight will be the finale).
Interesting fact: I think I almost sneeze at 5 minutes in on this video...sorry... ;)
Pro Tip (anyone remember the video game magazine Game Pro? Yeah, I miss Game Pro, so we are going with Pro Tip here...): Note that the first 15 minutes of the video covers Bitcoin - if you don't want to watch this, start the video right around the 16 minute mark! You will also magically avoid any very slight mention of politics and all controversy contained in this one crazy video.

Disclaimer: Videos are not intended to provide investment advice of any kind.
Remember, I am just a figment of your imagination, kind of like Max Headroom...
No Blue Snaggletooth was harmed in the filming of this video, I promise, as he is still in AFA 85 condition...
Yes, more content is coming soon, so please quite asking. I'm doing my best, honest...

Hmmm I don't think Disney stock has been a very good investment over the last 3 or so years. It peaked at around 194 dollars in March 2021 and today it's around 112 dollars. If you take into account inflation that's even worse, it's essentially lost almost half it's value in about 3 years. Depends when you bought of course. I don't see any upside to Disney at the present time (not financial advice just my opinion), It was just revealed that Disney lost over 300 million on the last Indiana Jones movie making it one the biggest Box Office bombs in Disney history. Oddly the movie did OK Box office but the budget and marketing were stupid high. Perhaps Bob Iger has a plan to get expenditures under control that I'm not aware of. This wasn't the only movie they lost hundreds of millions on. If he can get costs under control then certainly Disney will do well since they own many popular IP's. Bit of a gamble IMO but you do you😄. (again not financial advice, don't take investment advice from some comment on TH-cam)

Since my comment keeps getting deleted. @Reservedinvestments you are buying and later selling a stock with one nation's currency. If you buy a stock on the US stock exchange, you will pay USD and you will be paid out in USD. You are indirectly investing in the USD, as when it comes time to cash out your stock, you are hoping that the currency has at least maintained its value (with inflation) or increased.

It's backed by the government and everything that comes with it. Ok, I accept that's not great nowadays but I'd rather that than backed by no one.
Also, while you're point about indirectly investing in the dollar is interesting I'm still not sure it works. People hold Bitcoin hoping it will go up, very few people are directly investing into the dollar, hoping it goes up.
The thing is if you buy a farm then yes you are hoping to make dollars but it also produces something. If the dollar collapses you'd still have milk, eggs, livestock, land etc whereas if Bitcoin collapsed you'd have nothing.

Speaking of cults, I deeply offended my neighbor, making the mistake of assuming majority of people have similar political views. Would love to hear your thoughts on woke culture and its affect on classic lore. I understand the diversity initiative, but sometimes this agenda comes with indifference or lack of respect to established plot lines and characters, resulting in befuddled mediocrity. Response was "sometimes you need to change with the times". I look at Disney, Marvel and think.. these seem like dark times when we are force fed uninteresting check the box characters whose main adversary is obstacles to convey.. the message! Anyways, just My 2 cents.

      @ReservedInvestments  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Honest answer and no disrespect should be implied: Disney's problems have nothing to do with the fake Fox News use of the term 'woke' (whatever that means). Disney's mistake is simply trying to make movies, television shows, and characters that appeal to everyone at the expense of everyone. At the end of the day however, Disney will succeed. The planned takeover to oust the current CEO and change the direction of the company failed miserably. I am a shareholder in Disney directly, and I voted to stay the course and allow current management to do their thing. Disney will find their way, they are not going anywhere any time soon. The way some of the right-wing media talk, they act like the company is headed towards bankruptcy. Look at how much free cash Disney is sitting on. They can easily buy up several more LucasFilms without breaking a sweat and still have money left over. They are a powerhouse...

    • @DeltaFH

@@ReservedInvestments As long as they stay creatively bankrupt they will continue to have difficulties. Not to mention the switch in the parks towards targeting richer individuals at the expense of the average family. I was a Disney shareholder for a long time. But, as each Disney trip resulted with worse and worse guest experiences and park quality, as well as declining quality of their media I couldn't support it. Disney has been on the brink before, I wouldn't rule out them getting to that again. I hope that some people will come along like Michael Eisner and Frank Wells did to right the course of the company.

Depends on the character. There are things like James Bond and Doctor who that are well suited to trying out different races and genders. (Not that I'm defending how naff recent Doctor Who has been but that's mainly bad writing). Wasn't a fan when Magic The Gathering race swapped Aragorn but then most of the black people I know weren't pleased either so not sure who they were trying to please with that one. I'd imagine it'd be the same if it was the other way around. Can't imagine many white Star Wars fans being too happy if Mace Windu was suddenly white. Also depends on the medium. For some reason it feels like it works much better in theatre, not sure why.

Liked your comments on movie props, original comic art, Pokemon, LEGO, etc. I look forward to seeing more videos on various antiques and collectibles. Should probably dial back on the gold, crypto and political talk. There's enough people on both sides trying to either praise to the sky or drag through the mud gold, crypto or various political issues. I personally think those are your weakest areas. Some things are out of date, now Mark Cuban seems to be pushing crypto instead of attacking it. I do not like crypto or Mark Cuban, so it really doesn't matter to me. But, that's the extra effort you have to put in when referencing individuals is that their opinions change and contradict over time. I won't reopen the gold debate with you. Gold has a lot of positives, especially depending on what country you are in. Not all currencies are as stable or persist forever. People should stay away from the various gold sellers that are pumped by a lot of TH-camrs though. But it happens so slowly, over generations, that people don't notice. I understand that you have reservations about BTC, but in the same way that people felt unsure about the internet... this is because it's all new stuff, new technology. If you wanna hold BTC, you have to understand and believe in the adoption curve. Many decades later, can you imagine a world without the internet? Respect 🙌

The comparisons are not the same. A more accurate comparison is Bitcoin = America Online, not the internet as a whole. That’s a major misconception of Bitcoin enthusiasts.

@@ReservedInvestments TH-cam keeps deleting my comments so I hope you received my follow up. I respectfully disagree. AOL was a company. It had a CEO who was responsible for profits. BTC has no business metrics. It's more appropriate to compare it to a fax machine. A fax machine by itself is useless. But, a 100k fax machines spread across the world becomes a powerful communication network. All that is required is the adoption to create the network effect.

A notch lower than original comic art, that is QUITE nichey.....(If that's a word) is original comic STRIP art. Unless it's a Hal Foster Prince Valiant or Charles Schulz "Peanuts", it's an okay investment..but the market for STRIP art, is kind of dying. Very focused and only certain artists get the BIG bucks. Usually, only older collectors like the strip art.... Like anything, if you want to own a piece BECAUSE you like it.....fine...but I wouldn't rest my retirement on it.

Call me a Timmy, but Bitcoin has by far been my best investment over the past 10 years.
But as the market cap increases and it becomes more widely adopted, the returns will be diminishing and the volatility will stabilize. I think this will be one of the last bull runs for substantial returns, so I still have a small amount invested. I also like being able to pay for things and pay independent contractors in Bitcoin. Just make sure to keep it on a cold storage device.

I don't dispute that at all. However, if we go back to 1995, people would be saying the same thing about Beanie Babies. That's the point I am making...there are no underlying assets or cash flows. This is why an S & P 500 index fund works differently than Bitcoin. It's supposed to be that way...

If Bitcoin is not different than Gold and Silver, I agree with you. If you loose money in Krypto it is mostly because you are stupid, if you loose money in Bitcoin, you sold at the wrong time and so your are stupid again. If you don't know the difference between Bitcoin and Altcoins, you know not enough and when you invest with not enough knowledge, you are stupid again.
