    It's funny when Rudy took on PCG I thought he might have a chance at making an impact because of the capital he has. However, looking what he's up against it's going to be difficult. He's a minnow compared to this lot. Wish these conglomerates would open up some offices on the UK. We have to use middlemen and all our domestic grading companies are too new so don't add a huge premium. Thanks as always Shawn. P.S. I own a single SGC slab and it's probably the best looking slab I own. They have a very unique design.

    Yes CT scanners have been used for years but that’s not what people are getting worked up about. What’s changed is accessibility. In the past you had to own of work for a multi million dollar auction house to have access to these expensive scanners. Now anyone with $65 has access to a scanner. I agree that this won’t affect most sets, especially sets lacking a very expensive chase card but this will certainly affect some sets, specially pokemon 1st edition base. Anyone with a heavy 1st base pack will certainly be willing to spend $65 to see if there is a $2000 Poliwhirl or $200,000 charizard.

    Sir this mean that if someone sells you a sealed box it’s nearly certain to be a dud box or….this will be the perception which will decrease the value/trust. It actually gets to what the product represents. If you buy sealed way it’s already likely searched or the case hit is gone. 5 years from now any high value product will be xray searched so it ‘represents’ a suckers bet to buy.

    imagine not discussing gamblers premium when you are talking about physical loot crates i.e booster boxes/mystery products. Ct scanning will get cheaper. As long as money is involved, profit is good and if it’s got a low barrier to entry there is something to worry about. Also we are talking about entire boxes. Were they ct scanning booster boxes in the 90s to find the lotus or zard? This is nothing new? Not a new development It will make a difference slightly, product with low tier hits will be cheaper than those with high tier hits. Great video Shawn otherwise agree with most other things ❤

  • @JPW-336
    @JPW-336 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I think that you made good points about how scanning has little impact on vintage sealed product and long term value, but you need to do another video on the impact of scanning on short term price of new products that rely on serial # cards, patches, autographs that are easy to spot with technology. You often preach about flipping items for short term profit, so let’s examine if scanning casts doubt in the mind of a buyer who is purchasing a 2 year old case/box of cards from a smaller store /seller. A large scale “trusted source“ seller like Alpha Investments is less impacted by this issue.
