Falling more and more in love with your channel every video. As a guy who just started knitting I’ve seen there isn’t too many male models represented. But as I get better I hope to change that! Thank again so much for your videos! ❤
THANK YOU for validating my feelings and experience as a male knitter who struggles with Ravelry when looking for patterns for males. I appreciated your filter experimentation to get better results. Great episode!
I think it is quite difficult to find nice and interesting patterns for mens wear. So thank you so much for this video! I’d like to see more about patterns for men.
Usually I wouldn't care about if a pattern is traditionally masculine or feminine, but Christmas 2022 I made socks for my in-laws and finding sock patterns for my very lovely and very traditional FIL and 2 BILs was a nightmare. Sorting by male still got very lacy socks that they absolutely wouldn't wear. I don't care if someone else will, I'm looking for a traditionally masculine pattern. Sometimes that's just what I want to make
I get instantly excited when I see these video pop up. They are so much fun. Thanks for doing them. I also love how you show the search , my eyes are darting around looking all the things. So. much fun. 😊
My favorite YT videos atm are your Ravelry Roulette posts. I never understood the hype about Ravelry until I started knitting and was looking for challenges to help me grow my skills. I read through finished project notes like it’s my job lol. So much useful information on modifications or just pattern challenges. I wish more people would make notes on their finished projects on that platform.
Brilliant! Thank you for showing how the advanced search gives the option of 'excluding' women/female from the results. Of course, the ideal situation would be that designers show their designs on both male and female bodies if they want to label a design as suitable for men and women/unisex. But this video is very helpful nevertheless.
The vest was lovely, but I am not up to steeking yet. Those socks were very 80s! I love that Gansey style sweater! Great roulette session. I have several men to knit for. I didn't know you could exclude categories!
Well done, Tayler! Sometimes it’s good to air difficulties and see what bubbles up as a result. Maybe some good tips in comments or improved search function in Ravelry. Love this.
I love your Ravelry Roulette series. It's even influenced how I browse ravelry when looking for a pattern. I look at popular patterns, but I also turn on random and see what else is out there. Thanks for introducing me to this!
Loved this episode! I wanted to make a sweater for my husband but didn't have great luck with pattern searching. Thank you for the tips on searching and filtering. I really enjoyed the background music as well! ❤
If anybody was disappointed by the missing necktie pattern, I have “The Wedding Necktie” by Susan B Anderson in my Ravelry queue. I am going to knit it for my husband at some point
This was such a good episode! I had no idea men have such trouble finding patterns. And that Stonehaven Sweater was so nice! I might need to make one for my son. Thanks Taylor!
Good episode. Finding patterns specifically for men can be very challenging especially if you don't want to make an Icelandic sweater, which there seems to be quite a few of those. I had the same problem. I eventually went with, what I considered, a unisex pattern. I made the Olki for my son. It turned out better than I expected & he looks fabulous in it. I enjoyed the pattern so much I'd love to have a vest in the Olki!
It's rough on Ravelry to find some good male knitting patterns. A lot of women's patterns show up. Also, men's patterns are pretty boring. But they don't sell, so I think many people don't make many of them. Thanks for this video. It's good to show a different side of knitting.
Great video. Loved that sweater at the end. Question - would you be able to do a video on beginner sweaters like you did for socks? I've never knit a sweater before (socks, neither, but I'll get there), and don't know where to start. Thanks!
Gosh, I'm so glad that, regardless of how experienced you are with Ravelry, you have difficulty finding things too! It took me 3 hours to find an easy, circular yoke sweater that didn't have difficult fair isle patterns and the like! And while I love fair isle - I may even attempt to learn knitting it one day - it certainly isn't ideal for a first ever knit top down in the round sweater! Ravelry, get your website sorted! However, I love the patterns and you found and your ravelry roulette certainly is helps me learn more about how to use that cumbersome site! Thank you so much! ☃️🏸🧶🪡
Hi. I hope you found a pattern to suit your requirements. In case you didn’t you could try the DRK Everyday Sweater by Andrea Mowry. I haven’t knit it myself but I follow Amy from NE Knits on TH-cam and she has just started one. Sounds like it might be what you are after. Happy Knitting. 🧶
Could you summarize all the choices you made in your final search? It was so successful, and I already can't remember what you did, especially to get male models to display. thx!!!
One of my favorite designers that makes patterns for men is Maxium Cyr (for knitting, don't think hes done crochet patterns yet). If anyone whats to check him out!
Reddit taught me that you have to select men's patterns and then specifically EXCLUDE patterns for women/unisex to actually find what you're looking for in this video.
Yes if you wanted to you could change your whole channel to just ravelry roulette! Just kidding I love everything, but we really enjoy it so whenever you need a brain break go ahead and do more of these!
As a guy who knits... it's so hard to find patterns that are modeled by men! And a lot of the patterns are really not made for men in mind, especially since my proportions are different from the average woman's... I started a new sweater a couple months ago and ended up with something that is going to be way too small for my biceps even though it will fit my torso...
Being able to find a sweater designed for a man is so hard. Sweaters designed using womens measurements often dont have enough shoulder breadth for men.
I'm not sure it would be better to narrow it down to garments: When I was planning my sweater for my son, I tried to find patterns for men, and most of them were with women in them and I honestly couldn't imagine my 17yo in them. So I think that might be a note to designers - that if you want to sell to men, having the front image be a man is actually very useful (you could split the pattern in two if it is unisex or something).
As much as I really love the ravelry roulette series I do have a criticism... I don't think you should be showing all the projects people have made with the pattern. One of the things I like about posting my projects on my ravelry page is that those pictures are not viewable to people who aren't logged in to their own account unless you choose to make the pictures shareable with those not on ravelry (an option on each project page when you click Share). It's not just that you show people's projects, it's the mere fact that many of those projects are being modelled on someone who may not want their face posted in a youtube video, especially if its a child. I do love this series though I just think you should maybe take that into consideration
PS. You can actually refine searches to "Male and not Female and not Unisex". You almost had it when you just did "not Female", its that advanced option section. I got 12.6k search results when I refined it like that
Let's play Ravelry Roulette! Today we're searching for random patterns slated for men! Enjoy!
OH MY GOSH I LOVE the Stonehaven Sweater! Very handsome. 🌵
Oh. Why did it take me so long to find this. Thank you for showing us men I'm there knitting community some love

Last week I found this. Nice conversions of female patterns to male look: youtube.com/@makermarkknits?si=0okj1Ow42DFUBZpM
Oh I’m so glad Matthew! Thank you. And yes! Pave the way, friend. ❤️
Hi Tayler. Another fun episode of Ravelry Roulette!😊
THANK YOU for validating my feelings and experience as a male knitter who struggles with Ravelry when looking for patterns for males. I appreciated your filter experimentation to get better results. Great episode!
This was a lot of fun. I'm always looking for men's patterns. Nice tip of excluding females.
As a man - thank you!
You’re so welcome. ❤️

The most value from this particular episode is how powerful the Ravelry filters can be

I really like these videos. While you were scrolling, I saw some other things I also liked, esp the Diamond Lattice Neckwarmer.
Always so fun!

I love ravelry roulette, it always makes me smile when I see there is a new video and I have to watch it straight away.❤
I’m so glad. That’s such a nice thing to know Nicky. ❤️❤️
Ooo I'm saving that third one. Thanks for keeping me company while I worked this Italian bind off on my Sailor Swift Tank!
Great podcast thank you
Love your podcast but especially Ravelry Roulette :) such a fun idea!
Ravelry Roulette is always fun. Thanks for another hand.
Thanks for this!!!

I have three growing boys and a husband. Thank you for this!
I could watch this every day ❤❤❤
If you only want to see available patterns, you can check that in the search settings! (Or like, check everything except for "unavailable" patterns)
Ravelry Roulette is always fun and entertaining ❤️👍👏🧶😄
love ravekry roulette. Thanks
Could you summarize all the choices you made in your final search? It was so successful, and I already can't remember what you did, especially to get male models to display. thx!!!
I'm really enjoying Ravelry Roulette. It's brought so many patterns to light
Love this series!!
A Ravelry Roulette I didn’t even know I needed!
I have never tried that additional filter on Ravelry - great tip!

LOL you litterally adressed that the minute I had written my comment
"I'm seeing a lot more men in these photos"
Is this Ravelry or Tinder? 😅
