Try searching for ONLY men's sweaters…impossible. Very frustrating. Women's patterns are absolutely more creative, but I have failed at using the search function to narrow down my search for finding good patterns for men.
When you use advanced search on ravelry and check male AND female, you can click below to how the terms relate, go to advanced and make it say "male and not female" - this will show male and unisex tagged patterns that are not also tagged as female. You can also exclude unisex to only find specifically patterns tagged male (but I do find a lot of male sweater patterns are also tagged as unisex, so this can be limiting).
Omg Kevin I know!! It’s ridiculous. I actually have a menswear video and I think I touch on that a bit. th-cam.com/video/LMQ3ZCTw0GQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CemXeQjyulQdx8bJ
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS I appreciate you answering my tiny rant. I have been trying to learn to make a sweater and I cannot find anything that is imaginative really for me to learn on, I have me around to try it on so I can work out my bugs. I will then go into making some for my sons, and then of course pick one of the 12 million patterns for my daughter. I was actually looking for a henley type that I know I will wear.
Have a very Happy Birthday! 1984-85 was the year I became an exchange student. I learned how to knit in the spring of 1985 while I was in France. Still learning. I enjoy these Ravelry Roulette games very much.
Happy birthday, Taylor! 1984 is a good year. i had my son that year. 🥰 This is a fun series! Does anyone else forget and try to scroll the ravelry pages? 🙃
I have found some really lovely lesser known patterns while scrolling through Ravelry and I agree the photo matters a lot. There are many that are let down by not having an appealing main picture. There are often cases where the projects people have made can look better than the chosen designer example but that top first picture will always be the one on show when searching patterns. It should be a good one.
I just love this series!! I had my own turn of Ravelry roulette the other day trying to decide which garment I was going to knit next. Thanks for the inspo Tayler and have a Happy Birthday. 🎉🎉
Happy Birthday Taylor 🎉🎉🎉 I agree. As soon as I saw the shawl scarf, I thought of the camel colored yarn I have stashed. And how about the interlocking stash buster shawl! I need to jump in Ravelrys website instead of the app and just dive in.
lace is much easier then people think give it a try. that design looks like a good beginner friendly pattern. Lace is really good at helping you learn how to read the stitches on your needle. most lace uses about 3-6 stitches in total and the trick is to learn directional decrease. If you are like me and enjoy knitting patterns that require you to count simple repeats then lace is a rewarding project to knit. As far as color work with a gradient or stripped yarn its also really fun to do. I recently finished the alpine bloom hat for my goddaughter using a hand spun stripped yarn that came out stunning and a quick knit
Happy birthday. It is so fun to watch your ravelry roulette. I do discover new patterns and sometimes when I don't know what to knit - I try some roulette inspired by you.
Thank heavens for this podcast today - Have just spent 4 (FOUR!!!) whole days fixing my laptop, too stressed even for knitting to save me! Now it is finally done, this was just the soothing random fun I needed to wind down. Perhaps I need to knit an emotional support chicken next🤣
These episodes have galvanized my pattern searches, as well as providing some finds from your searches. Thanks for the motivation to make better use of Ravelry's pattern library.
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS I'm hanging in here! Actually savoring the cooler weather today, since it looks like we'll be in the 90s by next weekend! 😬 I haven't experienced the real desert heat yet! 😅
Happy Birthday! Ive recently discovered your channel and having a lot of fun catching up on previous videos. Such a great resource of hints and tips! Love it!
Hi Tayler! Really love the shawls in this episode, both really different and really beautiful. It’s especially fun to see patterns that have several different projects attached. Happy Birthday, I hope that you have a wonderful day doing things that you love best!
Happy Birthday! The Lacey Shawl Scarf might be something I’d knit. The drops design reminds me of the cozy memories blanket, but having a shawl would be so much fun with advents.
Let’s play Ravelry Roulette!! ❤
The potholder mushroom could be done in Mosaic.
Happy Birthday🎂🎉🎂
Have you considered doing a plus size ravelry Roulette?
I hope these get wildly popular. I love this new series!!!

@@eleanorpans1456 thank you. I guess I didn't go to “advanced”.
Agreed! How do we turn women sweaters into men? What changes do we need to make?
I really enjoy these Ravelry Roulette videos. Thank you ❣️

Your support chicken is stinkin' cute, and that is what this world needs. 🥰
Happy birthday 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love love Ravelry Roulette
Maybe you need to add a filter of rating > 2 or something similar, to filter out the broken patterns or the ones that no-one ever knit?
Happy birthday! My oldest son is the same age as you! How cute is that, 😮 Hope it’s a great day!
Happy birthday, Tayler!
I love the 160-14 Piece by Piece shawl. I will be printing that one out and saving it for my scraps! Thank you!
