For those you haven't seen Yugioh GX Camula's card Illusion Gate requires a soul to activate it, but she can choose any soul in the room and chooses Zanes brother. So if Zane were to win he would essentially kill his brother Syrus, and he didnt want that to happen so Camula cheated. If she didnt cheat, Zane would most likely win the duel because he was the strongest duelist in the school this season, even stronger than the main character Jaden.
Incorrect. Anime Power Bond you only take effect damage if the monster is on the controllers field. If say Creature Swap the power bond Cyber End, the opponent takes the damage not you. If you say defusion the power bond monster, the monster is no longer on the field and you don't take effect damage. The card irl makes it so you take damage regardless.
Could you start capturing the original duel monsters duels? It would mean the world to me to watch the Pharaoh duel Rafael without all the fluff and multiple episodes being involved...
This is true, almost all the season 1 duels not against the main cast aren't exactly top tier contenders. All the shadow riders aren't that strong. You have Atticus rocking red-eyes turbo and probably being the strongest non-banner shadow rider, but then you have the pharaoh who never actually won a duel, Don zaloog.dek, camula who needs to cheat to win, and the amazoness chick.

If they didn't change "Power Bond" effect in the anime, Zane would've lost on his first turn.
That ruling came out much later because people kept abusing powerbonds into OTKs.
