Clayton Harris Excellent! Had to take off the auger unit to swap out the bad heating element. Easy fix. Smoked some chicken legs today and everyone was happy!! Glad to have found your video-happy smoking friend!!
I had a Davey Crocket 5 or 6 years before the igniter went out. Here's how I fixed it. Disassembled the entire unit. Discovered what a MAJOR pain in the ass it was to remove and replace the igniter. Good luck reassembling a well "seasoned" grill. Took the entire unit to the dump. Problem solved. I did get good service out of the DC, so I may get another one. Just know, the repairs aren't easy.
Green mountain does pick up their phones 7 days per week. Otherwise, they return voicemails quickly. We've been dealing with them for years with hundreds of grills. They have changed part configurations over the years on the Davy Crocketts, so some videos are out of date. Talk to the manufacturer directly to solve issues faster without having to guess.
NTX you are right GMG's are very helpful. My Igniter went out after 3 years of cooking they sent a new one. I did watch this video and GMG i didn't take the whole side off as shown. Just the screen on bottom and fan snaked the wire through plugged the igniter and put it back together done.
0- auger and igniter come on 1- just igniter 2-fans and igniter 3- fans and igniter Ambient temperature Default 150. 200° and higher- heat shield all the way to the right 199° and below- heat shield all the way to the right, and back to the left 1".
Very helpful. Thanks. One note though: you do nat need to remove the display. I have mine on a counter and removed the 4 nuts and rested the entire unit on the side...
Take combustion fan off from the bottom.the problem is the plastic gourmet that the wires go through are a pain to get off. long nose pliers worked for me.
Im waiting on an igniter right now. Purchased my Daniel Boone on Sunday. Cooked once on Tuesday. Ignitor wouldn't heat up on Thursday. Not real happy right now.
@@claysnextel still working on this issue, don't have alot of personal time do to work, they sent me a long list to trouble shoot which was a full page of paper. Could be auger, igniter or cpu board. Mine only get to 82⁰ right now.
They seem to have changed them so they now have a plate with grommet. With a lot of fiddling and dexterity the plate can be removed. I then tied string to the old igniter and pulled it through.
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately the Green Mountain Grill's are disingenuous with their videos on how to replace the igniter. I personally believe that the GMG's are trash and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I've had mine for just under a year and have had nothing but problems with it, starting with the thermomiter, the WIFI, igniter and the power cord. Plus the customer support is all over the place as I've called them 4 times on the igniter issue and they've given me 4 different answers. Of course they've twice sent me the wrong parts. I've wasted too much time on their crappy grill.
I bought this grill off amazon and out of the box my ignitor was white in color. Did they change parts or perhaps my grill is refurbished tho I did purchase new
My igniter on my GMG Davy Crockett just went out and I’ve been trying to get the fire pot to come out but it won’t. I’ve unscrewed the 4 bolts that are holding it in. It will wiggle around but I can’t just get it off. Any tips on that
Watched this and now taking out my heating element. Very informative video. Wish me luck!!
Curbs McGee how did it go?

Sorry you have had a bad experience. After the igniter video have havent had many other issues. Still love both my GMGs.

Brett Kallini you have to gently move the pot around and twist it out. Then loosen the igniter for the pot. It’s a pain in the ass but you can do it.
We bought a Yoder after our GMG kept giving us fits. GMG is dead to me…
How did you get the igniter out
This guy should be working for GMG. Their “repair videos” are right up there with snuff films. Absolutely atrocious.
GMG did this video in 1:41. Without the fight night story.
