    Aloha Gabe, I have one of those as well and when I first got it it had an EXTREMELY thin edge from the factory. Needless to say after a bit of chopping the edge had damage, I was not shocked at all and actually expected it. After the initial use I slightly reprofiled the edge like you did, plus I ground in a finger choil as well, and have enjoyed the blade damage free ever since. I think it is a wonderful knife and it is among my favorites. Great review as always brother!

    Wow THANK YOU for this vid. Seeing the size of that chip and how well you were able to fix it and make the blade even sharper, now I won't have to trash one of my fav knives. The chip in it is much smaller. But , if I'm patient and put some work into it, I'll be able to fix it. As usual, you taught me impt stuff. Luv ya Gabe.

    I really dig this knife design, too. I did touch my edge up right out of the box, knowing I'd want to use it on Mesquite & Desert Ironwood & that it is a bit thin for a chopper. So far so good, though I haven't totally abused it, yet. I know other reviewers have had edge issues. Maybe there's some inconsistent heat treat at the factory? Maybe that thin scandi really needs a secondary bevel to hold up to the chopping, though I've also used a Finnish leuku on desert woods without any trouble. I hope you're able to just file that notch out and find some new love for that blade. Cheers from AZ.

    A different look and a little bit different theory on knife design. I sort of like this knife.. Sometimes it does not take a lot to make a nick. I found a Wenger butcher knife with a chunk out of it for 25 cents at a yard sale, fixed it and it is fine. If it happened more than once maybe there is a problem. Thank you for the video, Gabe..

    To anyone thinking of buying this knife. There is nothing wrong with the steel. It's a 3 mm blade with a very steep edge. Any steel will chip or roll if it's too thin. Simply grind it a little thicker where you will chop and keep it thin near handle to carve and slice. It's a great knife

    While I think that is a good blade, I prefer the Condor Barong that I own... discontinued but totally a great blade.
    Sad to see the damage at first, but I guess coconut is a hard beast.

    Wouldn’t be my choice for survival but was looking at it for a knife I could beat on and not feel bad bummer it failed not to bad though should be able to get that out especially with the softer steel

      H.I.S Survival still like the look length and weight maybe with a better steel but out in the jungle I guess it’s also good to have the softer steel so u can sharpen it without having to be home with heavy stones/machinery hopefully it was a freak thing good luck in the future with it but always know if u ever hate a blade I except them LOL✌️😁

    Lots of 5160 and 1095 blades available for $90. No one should own a crappy condor 1070. And they don't have to. Nice rationalization on a total fail. Nice Condor Kiss Ass! Impressive. Good luck with your overpriced wall hanger. Nice design. I'm really diggin it.

    Not sure that I like the knife or not. I was showed it about a month ago and I was able to grip the handle with my old xl hands with ease. I tried it, maybe it was I was not use the shape of the blade that made it feel odd The guy that owned it loved it cutting river cane. Enjoy your holidays.

    A scandy edge on a super thin blade like that is allway going to be weak. A pure convex would have been a much better choise. Scany edges are in general weak edges.

    90$ US? sorry bro maybe if you grind that big'ol beer belly off that knife it may cut a little better.
    Polish off that etching before it starts to rust. oil the handle an case maybe wall nut I could see maybe 50$ US.
    Please don't take it to hart I do look foreword to seeing you're videos..

    • @deathbyastonishment7930
      @deathbyastonishment7930 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mrfixit011 Belly makes a knife slice better, etching helps prevent rust, the handle is just fine and of course it came oiled.

    • @mrfixit011
      @mrfixit011 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes well I've got a pretty good belly on me an I can assure you it does not help Me to cut any better!.
      every pistol rifle an knife I own that has etching on it here in Florida will rust even if treated well.
      Thank you for the in put though.

    • @gabehumphries5483
      @gabehumphries5483  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      As of now this knife is not jungle approved which I stated in the video. At $90 it's overpriced. Baked on oil, etching, gun Bluing or natural patina only slightly helps rust prevention in my opinion. I've had rust develop under a powder coating so yeah
