I have owned the Hudson Bay for over a year now. I always like seeing videos of knives I ALREADY own. I save money that way. Good show Andy. Keep breathin'.
I recently purchased this knife. This was one of the best reviews I found. It's sharp, has great weight to chop through things. It's the perfect all allrounder. I am in love with this knife! The only improvement for me could be a slightly more contoured thicker handle and a lanyard hole but short of that this is such a perfect survival, camp, shtf knife that isn't costing your a ridiculous amount of money. Condor knows what they are doing for bushcraft survival.
Awesome knife, had one for over a decade, one of the early ones that had the powder coated blade. It was pretty sharp as purchased, and holds an edge well. When I had a wood stove, I used it to split all my kindling. Only faults I could find, the swivel sheath failed, and the powder coating looked so bad after a little use, I polished it all off. Homely looking knife, but very practical and versatile.
Bought this knife and after a few mods I love it! Pushed the grind back a bit and cut the ricasso up higher to choke up the grip higher and closer to the blade. Overall a great knife!
My dad bought one of these and he took the swivel loop off, cut the stitches out and riveted on a a new belt loop that is level with the top and just restitched with a heavier waxed thread and double stitched it after recontouring the leather for a more snug fit. Took about 45 minutes to an hour and he's carried that thin constantly ever since.
I made my Seax because the dual purpose suits light travel. I dual ground it so the 4" at the heel is 'knife' sharp and the remainder is chopper grade.
I love mine. Bulky and heavy? Yes. Solid built, super versatile and field serviceable? Also very yes. Probably my overall favourite tool that didn't cost one Earth.
Wow Andy. The trio of knives look very handy items to have, in the wrong hands you could damage yourself. As my dear old mum would say “Mind your fingers boy.” Which she meant in all honesty.
I'm considering this knife for quite a while - that's why I'm watching reviews such as yours - but so far I'm holding myself back. :D Nice review! Regards from the Czech Republic! :) PS: Your Royal knife/axe/guns laws are mad. Not that you don't know that ... :o
Nice video Andy 👍. I got the Canadian Tier knock off last year 🤨. Decent blade, scales only lasted about 3 months. Be4 cracking & splitting , only cost $ 28 tho. So DON'T buy Knives- Akes, Tents or savival equipment form them. You think you are saving cash 😉, in the long run. You will have to replace it, or repear it in a couple of months time . That's why they Nike Name is CRAPY TIER 🤣😛🤪.
I bought this knife to use when I could not carry an axe or Hatchet. It does everything you say and more. I filed the spine and slightly reprofiled the grind. I do not like the swivel belt loop. I may remove it or have a custom sheath built to carry the knife in the traditional mountain man style. I love the (very) slight recurve.
I am always looking for good knives for camping or backpacking, and this one looks as good as any I've seen. I will be adding it to my collection shortly, great review.
Love the wood slabs on it, very nice! If I hadn’t recently bought a British Army “survival” knife that’s been modified, I’d be interested in getting one of these, that is a veritable beast of a knife, at least 8mm thick blade, it’s built like a crow bar, a shaving sharp crow bar!😁 Also have my wonderful Terävä Skrama 240. Mind you, it does look a lovely knife, I do like it’s old school appearance……mmmmmmm…..maybe I do need another 🤣😂🤣🤓
Noice! I have my eye on the Mini Hudson Bay by Condor. l will pull the trigger on that blade before the year is over. It is about the size of a Bushlore but thick like the Hudson Bay knife.
I nearly bought the Bushlore, but went for something else that caught my eye. I would still buy the Bushlore if anything happened to my current knife and, I would still buy the Hudson Bay blade. It is an awesome tool going by your vid and a few others I’ve seen, Andy. But “the beast!” I’m keen to see that vid pal as that looks totally pleasing 😍
@@kentsurvivalgearreview586 I've got the Condor Selknam and was considering adding a Hudson Bay or Hudson Bay Mini.... I think I'll wait and see how you get on before deciding.
Looks like a great knife! I think the lanyard would be pretty useful for the chopping. I can see that thing doing some damage if it slipped out 😬. Thanks, Andy.
I had one of these choppers. I seldom use it. I love the rustic style of it but its a bit light compared to my Finnish Chopper or my Marine Raider Chopper...
Looks good Andy. I can see the value of a knife like that for processing game, but for normal woodsy stuff I would prefer a smaller knife like my SBT and a hawk. That would cover any eventuality for me, even shelter building can be done with a hawk, it just takes longer than using an axe.
I’ve accumulated several condors, and I’ve owned a Hudson Bay for a while. I don’t carry it much. The ergonomics aren’t great for regular use compared to other knife models around a similar price. To rely on in the woods for a similar cost, I would take a Cold Steel Survivalist in 52100, or a Cold Steel Leatherneck SF in D2 any day of the week. Condor has a LOT of QC inconsistencies. If you must have a Condor, then my Stratos is the best knife of theirs I own that I would feel secure in relying on in a survival scenario, although it is scandi ground so it’s not the most ideal for all survival tasks. These days I tend to take either my Esee 6, Esee Laserstrike, or my Tops Silent Hero with me if I need a foolproof tool with no quality issues and designed to handle most anything that can be required.
Hello. I would like to know what is the difference between the two Condor Hudson Bay knives on the article number? The article numbers are as follows;Condor HUDSON BAY KNIFE CTK240-8.5HCBL,Condor HUDSON BAY KNIFE CTK240-8.5HC
Love this knife. I use mine as a axe replacement too. Also i would consider grinding the convex to a scandy. (As the factory convex on mine was quite bad.)
Funny story...my wife wanted to know what i wanted to know what i wanted for my birthday. I asked for a bushcraft knife. We were out at a restaurant that normally lets us have a whole room for family stuff. Its a nice restaurant with a dress code. I was opening gifts and she excused herself to use the restroom i continued opening in front of the full restaurant and about 15 of my guests. She came back as i was opening what she bought me....She bought me one of those manscaping ball trimmers. Yeah, she said i wondered why you wanted one of those and why you called it by that name. Yeah, embarrassing to say the least... i have a friend that still pokes fun everytime i see him.
Got one about a year age. Absolutely brilliant knife. You didn't do it justice. A great crossover between knife and axe. Will rip through arm size wood quicker than an axe and feels like it will last forever
Looks like a untactical bush blade from India, made for films like Beauty and the Beast and Snow White. The grandad bush knife that skins chickens and slices yams.
Nice hefty blade, Andy....Please use gloves when chopping, I know I'm being a H & S nerd but if that thing had skittered along that log it would have taken off one of your fingers ::(
0.24, isn't that illegal in public? I thought only a swiss pocket knife or similar was legal, not putting u down,I love ur work but I'm sure that would be illegal
@@kentsurvivalgearreview586 Oh ok, I'm thinking of starting a channel, would filming be classed as work? So I can carry such items for my filming of videos? I get abit worried about law as I am a firearms certificate holder and dont want to lose it 👍
So you cant carry an axe on public land, where you live? How odd. I have the Hudson Bay knife, and it is a very good knife. But I always carry a tomahawk with me when camping, for heavy duty chopping and wood splitting. Course, I also carry a small folding saw. Right tools for the job.
Wait! Why cant you take a hatchet or axe on public land. We only have to unload our rifle when crossing a fence or put it on safe. Now, there are certain conditions where we cant have an open fire on public land but no axe, that seems like you are asking for people to injure themselves trying to baton wood without using the proper tool. Do they have people there to check you for an axe? I have had forest Rangers stay at camp for dinner because he wanted to try some rabbit stew my daughters had shot that day. Strange how different we are. For federal land we can have a pistol but it must be worn open (not concealed).
Have had one for 5 years love it

I wouldn’t mind one of these. I can see the benefits of not having to lag an axe if you have this. Very nice Andy
for chopping wood i have a kukri/khukri
Andy, yes great knife...
I Ike this idea when traveling. Thanks for presenting it
I see a new knife in my future. Thank you for the video.
That fills the gap between Seax and Machete... I would call it a "Northern" Machete; I could get stuff down fast with that around here!
Hello my friend, great to see a peak of you today. Have a fun filled weekend :-)
Had mine a few month's its a classic mainly used for kinderling but very nice

Thanks Andy! I've been eyeballing this knife for about a year. This was really insightful.
Hey Andy , good information again
grtz from Holland Janneman
I have the Bushlore after your recommendation. I might give this a look!
Hi Andy I use a British army machete which is very similar in place of a axe
That's awesome knife thanks for sharing your video waiting to see your other knife Andy .

Looks like a clip point blade as opposed to a drop point.
I think a clip point has more of a concave curve to it, that is more of a straight line drop.
Awesome! 👍😎🇨🇦🌲
That's not a knife this is a knife 😂😂 that's a beast Andy I'm looking forward to seeing the video on the next one atvb jimmy 😎😎👍👍

Nice price and a good steel, but I think a kukri would out perform it for bushcraft
