Thank you for the video. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it that there’s never one video that solves your issue. But by watching a number of videos you can Frankenstein together a solution. My grill was fine, but any other settings tripped the lecky. So through process of deduction, I’m guessing it’s the back element. Thanks for the video and for saving me about €400. 👍🏻
Replaced the element on mine this morning. It was tripping the RCD after about 5min of being on. Changing made no difference, still trips. Found another video which listed about 20 different things on a oven that can cause RCD to trip - great
@@bootsowen we only use the oven on the fan setting, so that is the element around the fan as far as I know. Would an element that isnt being used at the time trip the rcd, seems a bit weird?
I think depending on the settings one or both may be used. It’s your hassle. You decide if you want to repair it or throw it away. All I know is that ovens are one of the few things we can still repair and the parts are usually cheap on the internet.
@@bootsowen There is another setting that uses fan and grill, we just use fan. The element was the more expensive 'genuine' replacement rather than one of the generic ones. Didnt test it, if im going that far Ill pay someone to have a look. Tried to already they ignored our messages for 2 days and then said they could come in a week. Been shopping for a new oven today, found one we liked, measured up and dont think it will fit due to gas fitting for hob. Back to repairing the old one maybe - not sure. As I said, there is another video on YT where a guy lists tons of things that can trip RCD on oven not just the element. Mrs Ironbuket says she wont use the oven if I start messing with the electrics as it may not be safe. Got an air fryer which should be delievered to us later today and should give us something to cook in whilst we try to decide :)
Good video, the only issue I could see was the cable that connects the oven to the outlet plate should HO5 flex hence why the diagram on the back says brown, blue and green and yellow.
Just in addition: when you have a simple multimeter at home (which i would expect, when you do such a work as you show in the video) you can mark any cable connected to the heating elements. then disconnect anything(!) from the heater elements and just measure the resistance between the housing and the heating elements contacts. this way you can find the broken element, before replacing them all. the multimeter should tell you something like "infinite", "open circle" or maybe resistance in gigaohms thich is pretty much the same as open circle ... any other (smaller) value should be a failure! Mine got broken and i can clearly see the resistance of 140k ohms on one heating element. so this is not much at all (like 0,2 mA) but still let my fuse pop as soon as it heats up, even the fuse is thought to pop at 50 mA at least
He bro, I have air fryer/oven and when it gets hot the vents of the fan inside expand and it lifts up causing it to stop the fan...so is it safe to connect the vents to the heating element with a copper wire in order to stop it from hitting the fan?
Hi there, need some help, My Zanussi induction cooker, electric oven keeps cutting out, the light comes on runs for a few second light cuts out and keeps repeating, the induction hobs are working fine, but every time the oven it cuts out the display also blinks? Is this likely an element fault or control board issue?
Hi, your question isn't clear enough. is it a single unit,(hob over oven) or is the hob separate from the oven? A model number may help. Are you talking about the display on the oven or on the hob, maybe an answer to my first question would help. What have you tried so far?
Mine was tripping when I put the bottom oven element on changed it ,worked once but tripping again..what wrong...I did notice some burned wiring back of cooker...
@@bootsowen Last night we ran both ovens, and the breaker did not trip. It seems like when one oven comes up to temperature, then the energy draw is not a big when the second oven comes on. Is there something like a slow delay circuit breaker? We once had fuses that had something like that. Thanks
Oven was tripping as soon as I turned oven on, changed element and still the same issue. Isolated the fan and still same issue but it started to heat up. Maybe the thermostats gone?!
@@bootsowen it's an existing oven, never had any trouble, it's a double oven and hob free standing cooker, everything works except the one oven, that's the only thing that trips it telling me that something within the one oven had gone wrong, running out of options though haha!
Cool, yes, but does that oven that trips it have one or two elements, some ovens have a smaller element mounted at the back behind a panel surrounding the fan.
I replaced the bottom element, as it literally broke. Now my oven trips the breaker AFTER replacing the element. Any ideas? Wiring that goes to the element?
@@bootsowen I am having the same problem...how would you test that new element and know if it is the correct resistance? Is there a resistance that would be known for the element? Or is is possible the element is good but something else in the circuit is bad?
Check your breaker rcd usualy 30A and after the rcd u have more fuses probably the circuit i pluged oven and kettle cant suport more than 15A and both togheter are drawing more than that

Have you replaced the right element. Some ovens have more than one and it has caught me out in the past. Your issue does sound like element

Did you check the resistance of the element you replaced versus the replacement. If they were both the same then that might give a hint.

What tests have you perform to isolate only the element as the problem? Not taking into account other items such as oven switch, oven bulb etc
Thank you. Have same issue. Now I know what to do
Glad I could help

Oven elements are tricky sometimes. They can break within the casing and can show resistance when cold but that changes under power.

There could be more than one element? or maybe it is the wires
Im having the same issue but the the oven and not the grill, grill works fine, light comes on fan works, could it be the element?
Could be
We often do not use both the upper and lower oven at the same time, but now it trips the breaker when we try to use both. Any suggestions?
Could be either element in the machine or the trip switch is sensitive

Is your fuse board/Consumer unit able to handle it?

In my (limited) DIY experience it is usually the element around the fan that goes wrong first, possibly because it gets hotter???
Your experience can't be wrong. In this case it was the top element. How do you test that it is the fan element?
