    Do you have a video on drilling the aft of hardwoods to seat the foreshaft?

    How heavy do you generally like hardwood darts? Are they of comparable weight to your river cane darts? I'm assuming they can be smaller and yet heavier than the cane darts.

      Drew Griswold I’ve always wondered what the weight of some of those hardwood darts were

      I will actually be doing a future video more in depth on all that as well. The shafts can be shorter than cane and still hold the same weight. im still also in the process of finding my sweet spot in regards to length, weight, and flexibility. I have a good bunch drying and when they are ready I will be doing that video and more! I think it again is going to depend on what I am hunting. As long as I keep my weights similar for hunting the game I have with the cane spears, all should be fine. I do have a seasoned 8ft spear that throws very well with an extra large thrower. the spear weighs over a pound and it would be my baseline if I were to be in a position of spearing megafauna

    Ryan, did you ever consider using an amentum with a spear? You may not be able to throw it as fast as with an atlatl but the projectile is heavier and stiffer.
    Seeing how it performs on the hunt might be interesting.

    I'm curious ain movies and nonfiction books I've seen and heard of shaft straighteners, were those for specialized use cases, personal preference or are they mostly just a work of fiction?

    • @huntprimitive9918
      @huntprimitive9918  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have seen those too and even made one to use for a while. I found it unnecessary overall. I straighten everything by hand. I am sure some folks used them, especially if their hands are more sensitive to the heat

    What other Florida woods are good for arrows and atlatl's? I live in the Big Bend area.

    Have you ever two-fletched your darts? I do it plenty with my cane arrows, but I would imagine that the greater forward mass would somehow effect the darts trajectory in a negative way. Great video and very educational to me as i’m starting to get interested in atlatl’s.

    Does this work for a walking stave? Or is there a limit to the diameter of the width of the shaft?
