The shot of the teeth biting glimpsed through the crack on the fence is actually pretty good - keep most of the monster hidden, just a short cut to tease us.
I would have to say that scenes of the shrews trying to get into the structure were pretty well done. I used to work in Hollywood as an SFX technician (creature/puppet work on Poltergeist II, Big Trouble in Little China, Critters, Tremors, etc) and I was impressed by the techniques employed. Some of what I saw was ahead of its time.
Produced by Gordon McClendon, one of the pioneers in the development of the Top 40 radio format. McClendon enjoyed early success in radio by re-creating Major League Baseball games with play-by-play augmented with sound effects. Killer Shrews was shot on his ranch at Lake Dallas, now known as Lewisville Lake. McClendon gave himself the role of Dr. Baines.
Joel's all-time greatest moment is providing the voice of the kid's breakdown. "Go ahead! Strip me of my dignity at age four! WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AAAAAAATTT?!"
Ursula: [singing] If you want to cross a bridge, my sweet / You've got to pay the toll / Take a gulp and take a breath and go ahead and sign the scroll! / Flotsam, Jetsam, now I've got her, boys / The boss is on a roll / This poor unfortunate soul! 😊
16:25 😂😂 "it's Robert Maxwell's boat..." Little did they know, when this MST3K episode was produced, that Robert Maxwell's daughter was or would become Jeffrey Epstein's fluffer and child/girl proxénète 59:11 😂😂 "Rat Scratch Fever" 🎉🎉 😢😮😢
One of the contributing writers in the credits, Steve Hollenhorst, was a relative of mine! He was an actor and comedian who worked in the Twin Cities area and was friends with some of the crew back in the KTMA days.
9:28 "And the crowd goes wild... yay" is one of my most personally quoted MST lines.
It comes from Jay North’s Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, narrated hilariously by William Conrad.
@@bobf9749 Tom Slick!
After last Tuesday, it’s nice to find these MST3k movies on YT. Makes you forgot the state of the world for an hour and a half.
Shakespeare considered writing The Taming of the Killer Shrews, but he scrapped it.
Good thing he didn’t attempt writing The Taming of Rebecca.
😂😂😂😂😂
Needed some MST3K today. They never get old!
Never!

Agreed! First rule of monster movies, dont show the monster in its entirety.
I thought the scene with the Shrew dying in the basement was pretty good
30:30 “How big does that music make it sound?” is such a brilliant riff.

Love me some Killer Shrews! Thanks again for these uploads, MST3K Channel!
This was first one I seen on TV back in the day got me hooked
Can we do the while forever-a-thon thing again this holiday season? Feels like he country and world really needs it.
Joel's all-time greatest moment is providing the voice of the kid's breakdown. "Go ahead! Strip me of my dignity at age four! WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AAAAAAATTT?!"
Classic Joel era MST3K brings me back ❤
My friend looks exactly like the black guy in this film. While watching this, we often asked each other if we liked Dixieland jazz. XD
I do so love riffing animals made giant by science gone wrong movies.
3:04 Trace Beaulieu's puppetry at its finest.
🤘Dixieland Jazz🤘
We made the Killer Shrew drink once. It was not good. I do not recommend it.
What was in it?
Rum, chicken, corn, green peppers, chilis, *SIGH* onions...
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Add drained, diced tomatoes after ...
Seconded. The Killer Shrew, when drunk, likes to fight cops.
Thank you for the pants 😢
I can't believe they became a running gag in the series.
Mike is folding them during Crow's epic Grateful Dead guitar solo😅@@utility63
Another season 4 classic!
This gets me in the mood to play some dixieland jazz!
57:40
Joel must be confused. It's called,
'The people under the stairs'
52:33 Is he subconsciously flipping us the bird?
8:00
CROW:You call That ART?
No, but just wait for Pearl & she'll call YOU ART ;)
11:45
Bettie's in High School....&
Now she's in traction!
45:00
It's a really sweet scene. One question. What's a quip? And if it wasn't Joel, who came up with the term 'riff?? Who did?
Shakespeare
"Is that your elbow?" 31:10
"... I thank you..."
== "Me too"
Festus from Gunsmoke and Roscoe from Dukes trapped on an island with giant Shrews? Sure, why not?
Junior Rodeo: “Jim Henson’s The Misfits Babies”
@1:20… it’s a Festus for the rest of us!
48:17 The look on his face says he's reconsidering her as a love interest.
Shwew
Boss Hog Sent me. says I need to be more shrewd.
Hilarious classic 😂
How is this scary? Shakespeare already taught us how to tame shrews.
Ha! Bob Clampett. Didya see Grisswald?...No! did shrew.
Time to fart and get some sleep
Ursula: [singing] If you want to cross a bridge, my sweet / You've got to pay the toll / Take a gulp and take a breath and go ahead and sign the scroll! / Flotsam, Jetsam, now I've got her, boys / The boss is on a roll / This poor unfortunate soul!
😊

16:25 😂😂 "it's Robert Maxwell's boat..."

Immoderate alcohol consumption...
*THE KILLER SHREWS!!!*
💀
Does giving thank$ on this get money to the orginal cast or the Rifftraxx channel?
Love this
One of the classics! Love it!
Gonna shred some "Scoops of Chem" and feed my head.
16:09
Can your hearts stand... bunnies!
One of the contributing writers in the credits, Steve Hollenhorst, was a relative of mine! He was an actor and comedian who worked in the Twin Cities area and was friends with some of the crew back in the KTMA days.
I hope Chis Reeve doesn't see this...seriously. Ouch!
One left Shrew
Frank Flashdancing on Dr. F is like a seal of quality in these troubled times. Hurrah
“I’m gonna put a wet bar in mine!” Is a riff that has stayed with me
5:26 😂
This is a true classic. The film makes great fodder, the wisecracks are consistently up to snuff and who let the dogs out?
1:29:26 the sound they make 😂😂😂😂
James Best and the Everly Brothers are cousins.
Movies with puppets for monsters always get a thumbs up from me. Probably why I like Hobgoblins so much. But MAN, this movie drags at the beginning.
Really need to try that "Killer Shrew" shake at some point
Looks like Jim Lindsay the guitarist
Who else got this DVD for free?
Killer Shrew! Killer Shrew! K, I, Double-L, E-R Shrew!
Man the people who made this movie must have been drunk AF.
Biz markie...
