It does go to show the durability of the NX Class, Shran said he wouldn't take a ship as fragile as Enterprise into the Expanse, the Enterprise then went to weather the storm despite taking massive damage ( lets not forget we've seen other ships in Trek in the 23rd & 24th centuries take far less damage and become crippled or even damaged beyond repair or destroyed) yet the Enterprise survived made it home and despite all that managed to be repaired before going on to serve for around 6 more years through another war (Earth-Romulan although not seen on screen) it's no wonder Starfleet continued to use similar materials in future ships, the 24th century Intrepid and Galaxy Class ships both had their bulkheads constructed of Tritanium as was the NX, and the Intrepid class ships hull was constructed of Duranium of which the NX class only had its outer hull was only lined with, it was indeed a tough ship class that shouldn't be underestimated.
