Much of a muchness. 79 looks better
The Thunderbirds really are just so damn cool.
The scene where they are walking to V'Ger was greatly improved. The matte paintings of the Enterprise were terrible.
Boy, they got some mileage out of that bird of prey blowing up
Battle bridge was such a AMAZINGLY TERRIFIC idea !!! Such a pity that it wasn't used more. Would have been AWESOMENESS SQUARED if they'd used them in the Dominion war and the films.
I always loved the "sweep the skies" volley at 0:48 from The Arsenal of Freedom. Even though it didn't hit anything, the music cue and the sound effect of the phaser spooling up makes me grin.
❤👽
That warbird is peak ship design. Nothing they did with the romulans ever came close again. The way it flew towards the enterprise....
@2:02 the Registry is missing
This ruins it...tribbles are now a horror movie.
Riker: "prepare a spread of photon torpedos". Fired one torpedo 😅
Didn't realize this was a song through out star Trek
Wow what a bunch of moany ungrateful brats posted on this page.
DS9’s Kobayashi Maru. Sisko’s no-win scenario.
This is what happens when Honda, Nissan & Mistubishi merge against BYD. 😎
The persistent complaint I had about the D was that it was always clearly a very powerful ship, respected for that power and her leaders' ability to command it. In some cases we'd witness the withering firepower she could lay down if so desired. Yet sooo many times they'd fire phasers in one short, wimpy little burst, which would have no effect, and they'd be like "welp, that didn't work. Looks like we're going to have to think our way out of this." And here I am at home shouting "WELL FIRE AGAIN FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!" at the screen. LOL It always felt like having a gatling gun from an A-10 at your disposal, but only firing a starter's pistol at an enemy and then going "dang, our weapons don't work!"
😂 I was literally thinking the exact same thing!! It's like the Galaxy Class Enterprise-D was supposed to be at the time the most powerful ship that the Federation had ...and I always wanted Captain Picard to blow the other ships they were fighting out of the water...So to speak!! Picard always wanted to talk his way out of any fight...he never really automatically went into Battle mode...Like Captain Kirk always did!! You know that if Kirk was in charge of the Enterprise-D he would definitely use everything in her arsenal and destroy whatever they were facing. I suppose the only good Battle would be during the episode, "Yesterday's Enterprise" ...when she went up against the Klingons trying to save the Enterprise-C ..... Unless you can think of another episode??....🤔
Missed a chance to say "Look at the size of that thing!" from the episode The Survivors.
Whatever happened to "... all we have to do is stop feeding them!"? These things are breeding as if all they need is air.
6:49
Just a teeny little hint of what we see the Galaxy class does in the dominion war.

CGI is CGI. It doesn't make it better because only computer software made it and not a human being. Humans are always better than anything AI or computers could ever "create." On some teenager level it may look better but I am someone that needs a story and would rather see the flaws than perfect CGI ships, explosions etc. I have the original cut on Blu-ray anyway.
Lol

@@christopheralvarez3269 Lol. Thanks. I corrected it.

Of course, when the borg DO encounter any they’d deem genetic inferiors, they’d either kill them or leave them helplessly abandoned.
Beautiful.
RIP Mr. Data.
Have you not watched season 3 of ST: Picard?
Still better than some of the crap on TV today
Some of the new stuff is interesting, and I'm glad Robert Wise got to be happier with it before he died. But, honestly, I still prefer the theatrical release. Even now, in 2024, I do not believe anything done in CGI can match the feeling of reality provided by physical models. And Doug Trumbull and John Dykstra were the absolute best in the business. And it's funny, the part of the original effects I always thought looked the worst -- the beam of energy intruding on the bridge -- wasn't changed at all. Also, I don't like all the extra sound effects they added. One of the unique things about the original was that sound effects were de-emphasized in many places and, instead, Jerry Goldsmith's masterful score carried many scenes. So, in summary, I think the director's edition is fine, but I still prefer the original.
DX was soooooooooo COOL 😎 kicked arse
Glad that both versions are accessible to watch at any time.
🚀2:15🛩️
2:16, “locate the exact source of the tractor beam, lock on phasers, fire”. Fires at a completely different area of the target.
12:40 Worf saves his son. Riker saves a lobster.
Dinner
Guinan (from "Yesterday's Enterprise") told Picard that the Enterprise is not a ship of war but rather a ship of peace. 😉 The Enterprise's response: "Hold my beer, bitches." 😜
No matter how you put it, Federation starships are really warships in my opinion. Even if it is said they are meant for exploration.
are you going to release an updated version with the combat clips from Picard season 3?
better just to pretend the show does not exist
@@kipkipper-lg9vl Season 3 of Picard was good
✝️ 🕊 🕊 🕊 🕊 🕊
Intro season 4 forever
They reused that rear torpedo launch footage from Farpoint a lot.
I love the "WOOPWOOP" klaxon that goes off on the bridge whenever they fire.
Now that I see the differences... I'm glad I have a copy of the original release on dvd. I don't like what they did really. Doesn't match with the original film hardly at all. lol. (Though the sort of explosion at the end kinda looked alright.)
That Yesterday's Enterprise scene disappoints!!! I always wanted to see the Enterprise D blow up due to the warp core overload...and destroy the two K'Vort class cruisers with it, as the Enterprise C enters the time rift!!!
Majestic, beautiful, composed and so powerful. The Enterprise-D was by far the best fictional spaceship in all of sci-fi * * Star Trek Picard excluded
Jonathan Frakes' performance in this show deserves more credit than it gets
Maccoy, Doctor Hologram Crusher No!
After the cliffhanger in BOBW Part I, you knew it was going to take the all time episode of Star Trek to follow up. And, I thought, until AFTER this scene they were doing it. What was wrong with the rest of BOBW Part II. Thought it was too easy. But the time restraints and the budget. Still, some darn good music by Ron Jones.
Paul Bliss is a bloody genius. If he hasn’t done already he should do a tour playing the entire soundtrack. I’d buy a few tickets!!!!
1:57 - Wait... why does the Enterprise turn like that now? 8I
Because the Enterprise is actually flying around(!) V‘Ger, but you never got that impression before… In the original version the Enterprise suddenly changes direction between cuts. It seemed like they are flying aimlessly through the cloud instead of giving the impression that they are actually circling around the V‘Ger entity and that was a bit disorientating. All those times I‘ve watched the original cut (as well as the DVD director‘s cut where the Enterprise still does not turn) I never got the impression that they are going around it. That slight turn of the ship they added for the new version, instantly made it clear where the ship is going, for the whole effect sequence. A very small detail, that makes a big difference in the whole context of the sequence. It‘s not obvious when watching this comparison, as the rest of the sequence was not altered and does not show up in this comparison. Watch the whole (very long) scene in it‘s original and altered forms and You will see what I mean.
