    Looks like this uses similar panel as the 27GP850-B, both Nano IPS at 98% DCI-P3, so I can use your ICC profiles for Gamer and SRBG? What do you think?

    I picked up 2 of these. On both, all the way across the top edge of the screen (about half an inch starting from the very top) is just slightly dimmer/darker than the rest of the screen. Some call it "vignetting" - its subtle, but noticeable, especially if you have a lighter color (white) displayed along the top. Anyone else notice this on their panel? Also - the 1st monitor has a huge backlight bleed/IPS glow in the top right corner (average/acceptable amount in the other corners), while the 2nd monitor has noticeable, but acceptable/average backlight bleed/IPS glow in all corners. I'm returning the one with the really bad backlight bleed in the top right corner, but I'm really curious about the subtle vignetting issue along the top - is that kinda normal for these?

    Buddy, thank you so much for showing the picture quality in all the refresh rates available! looking at 60hz, then 120 and then 144 and 160 allowed me to finaly see the UFO shrink in width, becoming clearer in raport with the refresh rate. As someone who's still on a 60 hz monitor and has never seen high refresh rates screen besides phones, this was very helpful to finaly get a grasp on what i could see while dragging my mouse very fast in Unreal Tournament, the game which i play everyday. Im currently using a 34 inch 1440p ultrawide which is pretty neat, but i want faster framerates for Unreal. I keep looking at all these types of offerings and im wondering if i should jump for 240 hz or just take it slow with a cheaper 144hz one... there are so many things to check before buying a monitor. Just make sure it's not a VA panel, as that has very bad smearing while moving the mouse.

    amazing review, do you think that its possible to stream on twitch in 16:9 and render videos in 16:9 ? ( of course by playing in 16:9 with black borders ) or its better to use 16:9 monitor next to it just for that ?

    If this monitor could be a little bit cheaper, I would just buy it. Since VA is just useless, I need this monitor.

    Your video is fantastic. Easily the best monitor reviews I’ve seen outside Rtings and TFT Central. But in a great quality video.
    I’m watching this after having a lot of complications with VA Ultrawides and flickering issues with Gsync. I ended up grabbing a Samsung G7 however I’m really missing the immersive factor of an Ultrawide coupled with a few nitpicks on the G7. It has some minor occasional flickering and motion artifacts (over sharpening). The aggressive curve is also a bit off putting. So I’m looking at picking up the LG 34GP83A-B which from my understanding is just an updated version of this monitor. I’m a bit concerned about the contrast ratio coming from a OLED TV and QLED Monitor. But this helped me make my decision.

    I'm very late to the party but I have a question.
    I checked the gamma on my unit with Eizo Monitor Test und it turns out that in "Mode 2" of gamma settings the gamma is at around 2.0 whereas "Mode 1" is perfectly at the aimed 2.2.
    So how is it that you and others most reviews recommend the "Mode 2"? Does the Gamma get fixed with ICC profile or is the Eizo Monitor Test not accurate?

    funny that the OSD left & right default action sets a volume....and it does not have any speakers ;o]]
    honestly the OSD is not great, quite outdated look and nothing special (at least it has an OSD app that can control basic stuff)....I wanted the Acer X34 GS which had in addition to the joystick also few customizable buttons and also the joystick on right backside which imo is much better place ergonmically (and what I was used to from my 34" samsung and is quite annoying to now have the joystick in the center which is quite unnatural position to reach).....sadly the acer was sold out long term and this one got discounted to 75% of the acer price so I grabbed it even though I did not like the OSD/joystick position/lack of additional buttons
    all new "gaming" monitors are QD-LED these days so I decied to buy what might be last decent non-OLED gaming moniotor for quite some time

    The V shaped subpixels permit the compression/stretching of the panel, being curved, I would believe. It basically allows the subpixels to physically stretch without very much physical strain. I assume it's needed to prolong its life.

    To attract a wider audience, I think it would help to include footage of a variety of games. For example, racing, flight simulator, strategy games, etc.
    This allows the viewer to imagine the monitor in the games they play. Seems the only thing you showed are FPS games, and honestly, I don’t know why anyone would buy an ultra wide for FPS unless they are average players and are looking for immersion over performance.

      The D15S should be capable enough for the 5900x. If you're looking for the best air cooler on the market you should consider either the Noctua D15 or the Deepcool Assassin. Keep in mind to check the clearance of your case and RAM - these coolers are big.

    I've done research and talked to two LG representatives. Only difference between the GN850 AND GP83 is that the GN is a "business" model with a 3 year LG warranty whereas the GP only has 1 year; aswell as the GP sporting a red UG logo in the back and updated OSD. Other than that they are identical panels with the same features. Kinda silly pricing from LG, I believe they're defuncting the GN850s and continue to produce the GPs

      @@techlessYT well they had me on hold for about 10 minutes while they gathering info about it, they themselves were pretty lost at first but at the end were able to get me what I needed to know. And it seems like you might actually have the GP83 version dude lol. I've seen threads where people were getting gp83s in gn850 boxes (or vice versa dont remember). Seems like LG was kinda messy with this drop in terms of repricing, transparency on what the monitor actually is and their boxing methods.

    How did you get so lucky with your monitor?! The colors seem perfect on yours! Mine came with two stuck pixels "one I was able to get unstuck the other is stuck no matter what I try" and my monitor came with the most ugliest yellow tint I have ever seen on a new monitor ever!!!!! No matter the settings I try it has like this night mode look to it. Tried the monitor on 3 different pc's and they are all the same. I recalibrated it through the windows software and that didn't work. It helped but not nearly enough. I played with all the settings and downloaded color profiles and nothing worked. The only thing that helped was the nivida control panel color settings I had to drop the red and green down sooo much to get it looking some what acceptable. I hate this monitor will all my heart! I can't believe how bad this monitor is. I've had over 5 new monitors over a 6 year span and not one came so messed up and out of wack as this lg. I've never had a stuck pixel before ever on a old or new monitor before. And I've never had such ugly colors before especially on a ips monitor. My old benq and asus tn panels have 100% better colors I'm not even joking. Hdr on makes the yellow 10x worse and is so unusable. My 27" Aorus f127q 1440p 165hz ips monitor is no doubt better in every way so far over this one. It's only hdr 400 like this lg but it actually works just fine and has amazing colors but isn't a ultra wide and Aorus doesn't make a ips ultra wide unfortunately. I'm returning this lg one and buying another one to give it a second chance and hopefully get one like yours on the next one. But after researching this monitor up it took one fella 6 tries to get one of these without a dead or stuck pixel and good colors... I have my doubts but hopefully the lg panel lottery works in my favor next round..

    • @SVT_LIGHTNING

      @@techlessYT Okay after a days of researching and trying to figure this out I fixed the color issue finally. LG has a service munu where their is a bunch of good info and settings to where you can adjust color and other cool things. This monitor is endeed a 34gn850 and all the settings say in the service menu even though i bought the 34gp83a. You were right. Exact same monitor with the same panels and all just different box. I think the gp83a are like the intels 10850k cpus where they are 10900k cpus but bad bin / batch. Still selling the part instead of throwing them away. But anyways the color is what i was after in the service menu and sure enough on the 9300k, 7500 and 6500k all three of the settings red and greens were set way to high from the factory. I brought them down to a value of 123 on red and 123 on green on all three color temps and boom! Monitor is now perfect and wooooow do these colors look sooooo good! I'm going to play around with the color temps because i don't want all three the same color so i will play around with it to get warm, medui, and cool set right. But for now i'm extremely happy with the results and don't want a warm hue anyways ever again on this monitor lol. COD and battlefield 1 look outstanding. Only two games i've tried so far but can't wait to try even more. Hdr actually works now to an extent. I really wouldn't call it working being it's only 400 but it's at least it's functional now. To get into the service menu it's super easy. -Turn off the monitor and push the nipple three times to the left and once to the right. -Turn the monitor back on and push on the nipple and select menu. -on the left side of the screen a menu will pop up with a huge list of settings you can play with and tweek if needed. And that's it. Hopefully if someone purchases this monitor and had the same issues i have had or maybe other issues this could be a great tool to help you possibly.

    • @techlessYT
      @techlessYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the update! Binned monitors, oh well... LG might be onto something lol. I really hope that's just an individual case and they're only planned to be discerned by different packaging and box content, but who knows.
      Also big thanks for sharing how to boot into the factory menu. Already lost a good hour there trying out different combinations...

Hope it works out in the long run reliability wise and what not.

    Is an RTX 3090 over kill for this?

    • @techlessYT
      @techlessYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A 3090 is pretty much overkill for gaming in general. A 3080 or 6800XT will give you almost the same level of gaming performance for far less money.

    You forgot about 160hz !== 444. you will only get 422

    • @techlessYT
      @techlessYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it's full range RGB at 160 Hz and not even 444 YCbCr. You can see that in the video at about 12:14.

      @ThomazMartinez 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@techlessYT sorry but 444 is different to Full Range setting

      @ThomazMartinez 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@techlessYT Click on Output color format you will see there is more options, also read up on what is 444, 422 and so on because if you think they are are Color Range this is completely wrong.

    • @techlessYT
      @techlessYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThomazMartinez Again, it's full range RGB. Meaning, we're getting the full tripled, so untransformed RGB with no subsampling and no limited range.
      You could call this 444 RGB as well, if that was what you're referring to. But this notation can be confusing as the "4:4:4"-notation often is associated with video levels and mostly used for matrixed values.
      I'm not exactly sure what makes you think the 160 Hz only work with chroma subsampling, as it clearly says it's using RGB.
