It really bugged me about these movies is that Sony had full creative control over them and Marc Webb was a hired hand of a director. In away he was phoning it in. Sam Rami had real creative control over the first two Spiderman movies. He only had semi-creative control of the third movie.
No director has "full creative control". Raimi had to change stuff the studio didnt want in the first two movies (Goblin's design, Bruce Campbell not playing Dr Connors, among others), and in Spiderman 3, a lot of what people hated...it was Raimi's not the studio's. James Brown montage? Raimi. Jazz club sequence? Raimi. The buttler telling Harry the truth? Raimi. Marco being the one who killed uncle Ben? Raimi. This doesnt change the fact that forcing Venom in the movie completely changed the pacing and the story, both the Goblin and Sandman literally dissapear from the movie in order to make room for Eddie Brock and Evil Peter, and then Venom has barely any time on screen because they had to finish both Harry's and Marco's stories. When it comes to the Amazing movies, the first one is pretty clear Webb had most of the control (while Sony forced BS like the Connors wanting to turn everyone into lizards), but when it comes to the second movie, a lot of changes were made to the movie, there are a lot of deleted scenes, and all of them were worse than what made it into the movie, which begs the question of what was Webb's and what was Sony's. I think Peter tells Gwen he’s Spider-Man right after the heated discussion with her Dad for two reasons: 1.If she knows he’s actually Spider-Man that explains why he took the stance he did at the dinner table and 2.I think he cares about her and just wants her to know because he needs someone aside from him to know. You can say it’s dumb but he’s also 17 and 17 year olds don’t always make the best decisions
No joke, I actually found myself hooked on seeing how the Electro plot would go along once it was fully established within the flick. It's too bad that he ended up stashed away in some lab for most of the film. It would have been cool to see Spidey being challenged by such a powerful foe throughout the entire movie. I could easily see the plot revolving around Electro wreaking havoc around the city while Spiderman has to do his damndest to either reason with the guy or simply stop him. Seeing for the first time what some of these deleted scenes entailed makes all of this even worse. Had they stuck with one major plot and one subplot this could actually have been a decent little movie. It's not like there wasn't anything of substance in here, they just chose to not use any of it to try and force a cinematic universe.
This... Grey Hoodie Electro was actually pretty cool, they sacrificed his character development for the sake of shoehorning other characters in the movie. All the main characters suffered from this really. Stan Lee didn't even give a shit about Peter's parents.
A few things I have to say; It was never really established, implied, or stated that Peter didn't know Oscorp existed or that his dad worked there. he just didn't know what specific work his dad did there and who Curt Conner's was. It's entirely possible to become friends with someone through their parents work, and not know what that work is (especially if you're a kid). Also, Peter isn't 20, he's 18 because he just graduated High School and is gonna be going into College. It seems like Harry was the only one who was 20. Doesn't do much to change the point about their friendship, but still. I do agree that they seemed to have backtracked a bit. Maybe Richard and Curt were a science duo, but Richard also worked on stuff directly with Norman (or both he and Curt did). The second movie was definitely influenced by the fan opinions on the first one (what with the brand new suit, introduction of Norman and Harry. I never really heard anything wrong with Andrew's voice. Maybe some direct comparisons between his performance in the first movie and the second would help make the point clear I don't mind the inclusion of Peter's parents. I'm not entirely on board for this big mystery regarding them and his powers, but it is nice to address their existence. If someone's parents left/died at a young age, that'll definitely leave a mark, no matter how loving their surrogate parents are (which ties into Peter's abandonment issues). And the plot here is reminiscent of the Ultimate comics (which these movies were heavily based on) in how Peter and Eddie Brock were childhood friends because both their fathers were scientists who worked together. They even created what was intended to be a cure for Cancer (but it became the symbiote), and they got into a similar mess with their work being taken with intentions to weaponize it, resulting in both sets of parents dying in a plane crash. And this is nothing compared to other comics where Peter's parents were CIA/SHIELD agents who worked alongside Wolverine and were killed in action Bottom line, I enjoy when Spider-man addresses the fact that his parents are dead and the mark that would leave with him (depending on if they died when he was a baby or about 5 years old). It's funny how wanting no mention of his parents is literally the exact opposite of what the fans have demanded from the MCU for Spider-man to address the existence of Uncle Ben It is true that the Studio is the one at fault for meddling with the story, wanting to force a set-up for a future Sinister Six movie. And it's a shame because these movies hd so much potential that was forced down. You can even tell in Harry's line "When *you* toldme Spider-man said no..." that there must have been a scene shot where instead of Spider-man coming to tell Harry no, Peter pretended to go talk to Spider-man and relayed the message. There was a much better story hidden underneath all the corporate agendas. I do agree that Peter taking pictures of Gwen when she isn't looking is way too creepy. Reminds me of Tobey's Spider-man taking way more pictures of MJ than needed "for the school paper" (I guarantee you he had his own folder of MJ pictures with how he's pretty much obsessed over her since they were kids). While he is a social outcast, it's still one thing to admire from afar and to verge on stalking. And him telling her his secret so soon was definitely rushed. While the Ultimate comics had Peter reveal it to MJ early on, it was after he established himself as Spider-man and because he already had a bond with her. Another issue I have is that Captain Stacy died telling Peter to stay away from Gwen. In the comics, he was one of the first adults who supported Spider-man as a hero and wasn't quick to assume he was behind the crimes he stopped. And when he died, he revealed he figured out Peter's secret and asked him to keep Gwen safe (not by staying away, but by simply protecting her like he protects the city) It's clear that they intended to end the movie with Peter giving up Spider-man, and have the next one be their version of *Spider-man No More.* But I guess the studio wanted to end on a higher note while teasing the Sinister Six, so they sped through another movie's worth of character development in a few minutes. And the comment about being against Peter being chosen/destined to be Spider-man is actually interesting. Because the Spider-verse comics kinda revealed that almost every Spider-person was literally chosen by a cosmic force to be a Spider Totem. Not saying the critique about Peter being the only one the spider venom would work on isn’t valid (I agree that it’s a bit much in-universe), but I still find it interesting Overall, I do enjoy these movies. Andrew was a solid depiction, there were hints and intentions for a solid story that were damaged by Studio interference, the music and CGI was incredible, and this franchise deserved to tell the stories they wanted to tell. In another world, this Spider-man might have made it into the MCU. While there were flaws, very few of them were the fault of the Marc Webb. TASM was made purely for Sony to keep the rights, and when it wasn't getting as well received as the Raimi movies, it was set up to fail. Again, there was great potential here, but the fact that it was made to prolong the inevitable definitely made its foundation weak on top of the fan influence automatically being negative mainly because it "wasn't Raimi"
Ah, the whole Spider-Totem thing. I never liked Spider-Verse/Spider-Geddon comics. I like seeing my fav Spider-People teamed up such as Silk, Spider-Gwen, Japanese Spider-Man, Spinneret, Spiderling, Spider-Girl, PS4 Spider-Man, Spider-Punk etc, but the whole idea of "the chosen one" completely diminished Spider-Man as a whole. They didnt even explore the Spider-Totem thing. Whats the purpose of The Bride? My fav Spider-Man comic is Renew Your Vows because the Peter Parker dynamic is so cute and adorable. Im just glad, really glad they didnt kill Peter or MJ like they did with Mayday Parker's dad.
Still absolutely love that first Tasm suit. It was so believable as homemade but still so sleek, the weird accents on the boots and gloves somehow really worked for me. But yeah, they way over did the parental storyline. You and I have numerous fav characters that match up too
I honestly think the first movie should of cut all the parent worship out and used the time to casually introduce Harry as a self aware rich kid who takes delight in blowing Norman’s money as a subtle way of getting even for whatever happened between Norm and Harry’s mother. Nothing too big, keep him as just a buddy of Pete’s who was a tad more observant than he let on. A little pre planning and a bit more subtlety would of done so much good for this.
You apparently missed the several times that Peter saw the vision of Captain Stacy. It was shown extensively that the promise that Peter made Captain Stacy and the desire of his and Gwen’s heart were literally tearing them apart. It is the why the other stuff in Amazing Spider-Man 2 happens. Also Harry Osborn, in the comics, was Gwen’s friend first. They entered Peter’s life in College through Flash Thompson. Also it was Norman Osborn as the Green Goblin that kills Gwen. It also takes place on the Brooklyn Bridge. Also you should note that the conversation that Richard and Peter have as it pertains to Gwen is in the movie it just Richard that isn’t. Peter has that conversation with Aunt May.
Quick mention: TASM1 has a tie-in game that is actually pretty good and feels more connected to the movie than TASM2 is. It's actually a sequel that expands on the monsters Oscorp was making at the time AND features Allyster Smythe as the villain. In other words, it's the REAL Amazing Spider-Man 2. Anyways, Dane Dehaan is a Goblin man!
I'm surprised you didn't mention what happened at the end of the first amazing movie. You know the part where they set up that he was going after Uncle Ben's killer and I never happen.
Agree, i hated it in Steven Universe when it turned out he was a Diamond not just a random quartz like his hero mom "rose quartz" was. Fucking eugenics nepotastic bullshit
If they'd cut Electro or Harry or the parents subplot, I think this movie could've been better. Or maybe if the focus had been just on Gwen and Peter and they hadn't been so obsessed with setting up the Spider-Man Cinematic Universe. Not to mention, I wanted to see what was going to follow up the ending of ASM2, but now, the ending feels awkward, because it's teasing what will never come to be. Except in No Way Home.
The way you feel about Andrew Garfield doing a New York accent is like us southerners hearing actors try to sound like they're from the south. Also, Dane Dehaan is an actual goblin!
I heard on a podcast that the reason why TASM 2 is hated by everyone is because the people who wrote the script also wrote the script for the Transformers movies.

The stalking in the 2nd one is more annoying because like the movie is trying to tell us he's trying (and obviously failing) at stay away from her because of what her father said and they broke up and all, but then all he does is stalking? That's not even trying, why did he even bother at all then? And yes, the movie thinks it's cute as if it being cute would make it make sense. But that's the thing, is not even that cute because it's stupid and by default you can't take the whole plot about being apart seriously because a) he's not even trying b) she wants to be with him anyway so it's all just for the sake of drama
TLDR is, them being apart is never believable, they never let them actually BE apart at any time so you can never mourn or miss their relationship. He's always stalking her anyway
*Dane Dehaan is an actual Goblin* been enjoying your Spider-Man videos and all your content and keep up the good work. I really hope they still push through with that silver and black movie, unless it's going to be on indefinite hold.

Yesterday I was watching this two movies after watching the Raimi trilogy and wuf, I don’t get why people say this version of peter was too cool, he’s constantly making hot hollywood faces and just looks weird, fcking dumb af
If the writing was better the subplot of his father left out. It could be a better movie and yeah letting the audience know SOMETHING about Peter and Harry's friendship before cramming down our throat lol.
Does it state that Peter didn’t know about oscorp? I was always under the impression he knew what oscorp was but didn’t realise their shady dealings. Even if he wasn’t friends with Harry and his father never worked for oscorp id find it hard to believe he’d never heard of oscorp, it’s the biggest building in New York, 200 billion dollar company according to tasm2 and easily this universes equivalent of Tesla or something. So not entirely sure it was a plot hole. Richard and Norman likely had their kids around the office from time to time so it’s very possible that the two were hanging out with one another as kids
Ideas for awesome amazing Spider-Man to make Harry more developed Give Harry and Peter more scenes, give Harry and Felicia more scenes, make Harry the main villain, but a boom but a bang good Spider-Man movie you’re welcome

These 2 movies exist cause of Amy pascal’s interference in spider-man 3 demanding the venom in the movie not caring that sandman and Harry’s goblin are already in the movie dispite my opinion of spider-man 3 needing to have been a 2 part movie but sam raimi put all 4 plot elements into one movie that’s why the symboit effecting Peter felt rushed and cut down to an emo dance montage so they could fit Peter wanting it off and it going on to Eddie Brock into the same movie then 4 there was script issues then possibly Amy trying to interfere again and sam gave up and left the franchise but a lot of the behind the scenes of spider-man 4 is still a mystery to this day all we know is what have been uncovered in pieces over the years then a few years later we got these movies and u are right cause 2 does feel like Amy want to world build instead of telling a coherent story cause she was so determined to do a female led movie in the franchise with female spider-man characters but when 2 wasn’t profitable enough for Sony to warrant any more movies her idea of a female led movie was in the franchise was gone so she hunted down another profitable franchise Sony had to get her female led movie done that’s why we got the disaster that was ghostbusters 2016 the information came out when Sony got hacked in retaliation over the movie the interview where the spider-man information and the ghostbusters 2016 information got leaked and most people like me reacted to the information that was leaked more then the movie being female led
I was actually grudgingly enjoying the 2nd one and then there is a song choice followed by that train shit and it completely killed any momentum I carried for it.
18:36 That literally the same criticism I have with that whole Barry and Iris scene in Justice League. Seriously, can’t believe people undermined it as being romantic when there is A LOT of creepy undertones in that moment:
Honestly Andrew was and still is my favorite Peter Parker AND Spider-Man. I actually like the TASM movie's. Sure they were messy but i stil like these movies, i mean now No Way Home is my favorite Spidey Movie but without any Timeline Crossovers over universes Andrew is my favorite. My fav Spider-Man comic is Renew Your Vows because the Peter Parker dynamic is so cute and adorable. Im just glad, really glad they didnt kill Peter or MJ like they did with Mayday Parker's dad.
14:06 poor Andrew acting his heart out for a stupid deleted scene
💯 agree
Would be interesting to have a video on your ideal spiderman movie
I cannot get sick of people ripping on this movie just like ghostbusters 2016, dark fate, the predator, cyberpunk 2077, etc
The mere mention of them makes me want to punch someone
I love seeing the growth of this channel this channel went from 12k subs to 160 something with 12 k likes amazing keep it up
The Parkers were secret agents (?!) in the comics and Ultimate Richard created Venom with Edie Brock's dad.
Ultimate is the only universe where Richard Parker creates Venom. In the main universe The parkers are SHIELD agents
Tobey Maguire: Peter Parker
Andrew Garfield: Spiderman
Tom Holland: Spiderboy
Hotel: Trivago
Quick mention: TASM1 has a tie-in game that is actually pretty good and feels more connected to the movie than TASM2 is. It's actually a sequel that expands on the monsters Oscorp was making at the time AND features Allyster Smythe as the villain. In other words, it's the REAL Amazing Spider-Man 2. Anyways, Dane Dehaan is a Goblin man!
The actress who played Gwen is really beautiful. Never watched this series of movies but gaining a new celebrity crush just from this video lol
These Spider-Man videos are great. We want more!
I'm surprised you didn't mention what happened at the end of the first amazing movie. You know the part where they set up that he was going after Uncle Ben's killer and I never happen.
Right. I kinda forgot about that too. What was the point of all those scenes?
I always love your videos! I had no idea that they cut so much from these movies. In an alternate world these movies could’ve been amazing
I wonder why writers think viewers will relate to nepotism and not the spontaneity of life obstacles. They went the nepotism route in with Rey too
Agree, i hated it in Steven Universe when it turned out he was a Diamond not just a random quartz like his hero mom "rose quartz" was.
Got a strong feeling they brought Richard Parker back just to kill him again in the next movie that never came out anyway
I heard on a podcast that the reason why TASM 2 is hated by everyone is because the people who wrote the script also wrote the script for the Transformers movies.
Dane DeHaan is an actual Goblin. Dane DeHaan is a Goblin-Man. This is factual, this is not a joke. Dane DeHaan is an actual Goblin. Spread the word, the people have to know.
Kinda feel like reconnecting with a childhood friend is way more intense than how you make it out to be. But the lack of exposition does make it more difficult to believe
As much as I love your take on batman media... these spider man vids are a nice breath of fresh air and well articulated
"Dane Dahaan is a goblin for real no joke is an actual goblin "
Another excellent Video Vee. Let alone one that showed things I forgot from the movies. The only sad thing is guys like you who are fair with these movies are very rare. I honestly love all the spiderman movies. Even when they are not the best. Or have many flaws. But I am certainly not afraid to go beyond biased and realize how much detail their is that I missed.
You know what's weird is that idk who spider man's parents even are or what even happened to them....i never really thought about it ....
"Hey they exist" 😂😂😂
Dane DeHaan is a FREAKING GOBLIN
Dane Dehaan is an actual goblin!!!!! This videos are great dude, you are fair with this movies and that's something i don't see very ofthen
Sorry for my english, saludos desde argentina
"they are depicted as being twenty years old..."
Didn't Peter JUST graduate from high school?
The genius Peter Parker graduated high school at the age of twenty????????
12:25
That's how the writers and Sony think in a nutshell. 😆
This is such good sh*t ! Love these videos
I just agree with you learn some information in the video that Peter‘s dad made. We obviously learned that the spiders venom can’t be ingested in people who do not have Richard Parker’s blood
He may not have known that hairy had connections to Oscorp
They were important in ultimate universe, that's probly where they pulled his parents involvement from
Love the videos Vee!
As a naive New Yorker (Brooklyn represent!✊🏾) that’s exactly how 75% of New Yorkers sound Vee lol especially in Queens and Brooklyn if Andrew spoke like that constantly I would’ve never known he was from England
I’m from Staten, myself
As much as I disliked the movie, I must say it's more respectable to be overly ambitious than to play it safe.
They could have did an ultimate version of peter parents
Personally, I don't anyone has topped Nicholas Hammond's portrayal of both Spidey and Peter Parker.
Not sure how I feel about kickass playing kraven but I’m here for it
Video idea- the day according to jim died
i enjoy these videos vee
At least NWH finally got Andrew and Tom right as Peter Parker and Spider-Man
I forgot to add the number 2 in the title
The thing about Peter and Harry being best friends also bothers me a lot
Love the Spidey content Vee. Dane DeHaan is an actual Goblin
This good shit vee. Dane is a real goblin.
Am I the only one at every mention of Richard Parker picture a 🐅? No? Just me? Lol #LifeofPiEffect
As I continued watching, I saw that split face image of Richard Parker with the 🐅. Well done sir. 👏🏿 your videos are growing on me
You are the most negative TH-camr ever. I love it
The critical drinker: hold my beer
Also is bad the very brief fight with the Rhyno, and we didn't have a proper end of the fight in the end of the credits, instead, we have a preview of the next x-men
Can't wait for MCU Spidey takes, really enjoyig the series. Dane DeHaan is an actual Goblin, Dane DeHaan is a Goblinman. This is factual, this is not a joke. Dane DeHaan is an actual Goblin.
Yesterday I was watching this two movies after watching the Raimi trilogy and wuf, I don’t get why people say this version of peter was too cool, he’s constantly making hot hollywood faces and just looks weird, fcking dumb af
Definetly enjoyed these last two spidey videos
I don’t care what anybody says this movie still better than far from home
If the writing was better the subplot of his father left out. It could be a better movie and yeah letting the audience know SOMETHING about Peter and Harry's friendship before cramming down our throat lol.
Got to do a into the spider verse analysis
Kind of like cosmonaut variety video, I agree with you both
Whenever I think of the Richard Parker scenes for some reason I think of Rick saying I fucked the spiders morty
Dont trash Michael Fassbender as Magneto. Disney will be hard pressed to replace him
Dane Dahaan is an actual Goblin
This channel fuckin rocks!!!!!🤘
I think I might've watched Already but can't remember so came to feed your algorithm some more
🧡🦇 🧡🦇 🧡🦇 🧡🦇 🧡🦇
This video is heavy on the ad space
Dandahun is an actual Goblin lol
Tobey Maguire is an actual Goblin. Tobey Maguire is a Goblin-Man. This is factual, this not a joke. Tobey Maguire is an *actual* Goblin.

It’s not as creepy as you think
Y’all need to realise the are comic book movies
Need more Superman videos
You CAN GET OFF THE HEY ARNOLD SHIT RIGHT NOW 🤣🤣🤣
Can you make a review on X-men first class
I thought Richard Parker was a tiger….
Dane D IS A GOBLIN MAN.
My attention span won't let me remember nor type all you said to put in the comments
Stalker spiderman inspired the show YOU on Netflix lol
This whole movie was just a set up for a spiderverse
Honestly Andrew was and still is my favorite Peter Parker AND Spider-Man. I actually like the TASM movie's. Sure they were messy but i stil like these movies, i mean now No Way Home is my favorite Spidey Movie but without any Timeline Crossovers over universes Andrew is my favorite. So sorry but that's my opinion (Don't fight me) I do think Harry maybe should of been the villain better than Electro and Rhino but i still like TASM 1 AND 2.
Vee you do kno MJ and Gwen were around at the same time right?
This is a good video
Wait what!? I swear you said you liked it? Oh maybe I should watch farther than 2 seconds before I comment lol
Dain dahan is an actual goblin
Love the spidey vids doooo more
Stan Lee is the cameo legend.
day dahone is an actual goblin
