I like what you had to say about the "just a PA" thing. I feel kinda down about that sometimes- especially when people are like "oh you work on movies? what do you do??" I have to constantly remind myself to be grateful and to even be proud of myself for putting myself out there.
I'm 21 and I have done PA work about 3 times and it is honestly the most fun I've ever had in my life. Dont feel bad about it, there's nowhere to go but up! There are people who look to to it
Excellent advice, esp. for the socially awkward folks. Sometimes it takes real effort to put yourself out there and socialize, but like you said, its worth it.
I originally came here and started producing records and songwriting for Troop the Ice Cube, and a host of other artists. So I have Gold and Platinum records with them Including writing sound track songs for films I.e. Set it off with F Gary Gray, B.A.P.S. With Robert Townsend I also worked under Composer Christopher Young on the film The Core. Now my quest is shooting some short films to sharpen my directors skills. So that’s me Amber in a nutshell. I enjoy you channel because you’re NEVER too experienced to learn something new from even people younger than you. Thanks for being so candid. So refreshing. :)
Great information! And I love your videos... so thankful I ran across your channel. I’m hoping to get into films making, even though I am in my 40s. Having done set up and strike, and being a runner for many concerts in the past, as well as, work as background for a handful of tv shows, a commercial, and an indie movie, I have felt “in my sweet spot”, working those gigs. Hopefully I am not too old to get started.
Do you know where to look to find a job in being part of a TV commercial crew, like a PA? I think it's a good place to start. I just need it for experience inorder to build up my resume to get in TV shows and movies later on.
Jobs are everywhere...you can start looking on our database www.EntertainmentCareerCenter.com, there's also EntertainmentCareers.net. Great places to start.
You Amber are totally East Coast.... the suggestions you’re making is so not Los Angeles lol. But I get you. I’ve been here for years. You’re totally right. 100,000 % Real Talk. Thanks Amber great advice
What the hell do you guys do in LA? Lol I'm actually curious now. I know things are a bit superficial there- more fake folks there. Ive heard a few stories lol
Brisdad53 I guess you’re experience was different than mine and that’s ok. But being a person who grew up on the east coast then moving west I was definitely able to see a broad difference immediately. And frequently visit home all up and down the east coast but I love LA!! No I do not miss the freezing winters and the humid summers No lol I do not. Lol
I'm not sure about new Zealand but the national film and television school is good. But take that with a grain of salt bc I dont really push for ppl to go to film school.
@@BeyondFilmSchool thank you for your valuable reply . Although NFTS is not allow to do diploma in production management for film and television for international students. need for suggestion from you . THANKING YOU..
