Because it sucks. I bought the original zelda for the nes when it came out. Then they followed it up with this. Do not be fooled. There is a reason zelda 3 is regarded as one of the best video game of all time. Not only is it amazing but it allowed us to get over this horrible follow up to the first game.
Link starts the game with six crystals, given to him by Impa. Each of the six palaces in the game contains a statue into which Link must place a crystal. After placing all six crystals into the six statues, the binding force around the Great Palace is removed so that Link can enter. Each crystal leaves Link’s inventory at the moment that he makes contact with the base of the statue. The previously overlooked aspect, however, is that there is a gap between the time that a crystal leaves Link’s possession and the time that the crystal is locked-in to the forehead of the statue. The player can use Up+A to restart the game after placing the crystal but before it reaches the statue’s forehead. Thus, the player can place multiple crystals into a single statue. The game only checks whether Link has no crystals left when determining whether to remove the barrier around the Great Palace, so using this glitch to lower our crystal count removes the need to beat all of the palaces.
Congrats on that new TAS! I'm wondering if the first part of Rebonack fight can be somehow improved though? From what I managed to get in NES Remix II in my video, which looks a bit faster (I could be wrong though): watch?v=XHoppFYIzL0 at 2:38 :) I'm not sure if that's accurate to what can be done in the full game (even with RNG manipulation), but I'm just curious.
I know this is an old comment, and I'm not 100% sure I understand exactly how this works, but the game makes sure that you placed six stones in each of the six palaces, in order to gain access to the final palace. There is a counter which records how many stones have been placed; if it's less than 6 the force field at the entrance to the final palace prevents you from getting in. However, in this TAS they took advantage of a glitch - by quickly doing an Up+A reset as soon as the stone is placed, the game records a stone as "placed" (and ticks the counter up by 1) but without turning the palace to stone or "setting" the stone on screen so that you can't do it again. Thus you can return to Palace 1 multiple times and each time it ticks the "stone" counter up by 1 (the game only keeps track of the total number of stones placed without ensuring that it was done in six unique palaces, although the game separately prevents you from placing the stone in the same palace twice, unless you use this glitch by resetting quickly enough to prevent that from occurring). They actually went to the first palace three times, which enabled them to avoid having to fight Carock and placing the stone in palace 4 (which requires getting the Reflect magic, which is a whole task in and of itself), and to avoid going to palace 6 altogether. You actually have to go to palaces 2, 3, and 5, because you need the items in those to complete the game (at least under the rules of this speedrun, you need the glove, the raft, and the whistle). And you need the boots from Palace 4, but getting the reflect spell to defeat Carock is quite a long task, to the point that it's actually quicker to reset out of Palace 4, and place the stone in Palace 1 again.
I’m confused as to why he would return to castle 1 after completing and just run through just to restart.???? Can anyone explain this to me please..!!?????
i must admit zelda is brilliant. i don't care what anyone does to this game oh the memories. i didn't exactly have zelda but i no a few friends who had it, and some people wouldn't talk to me for they were hooked on zelda lol
Revalation45, you do know that you can walk right past people in villages without restrictions right? Because only if you have the A button on rapid fire, you won't really talk to anyone. I also like how this TAS guy played though the whole game with only two spells, if your taking requests TAS, try a let's go playthrough for Switch and catch nothing but shiny Pokemon for a challenge. (Ps, to get shiny Pokemon in those games, you need combos of over at least 20 or more of the same type to get a shiny FYI, in otherwords catch the same Pokemon over and over again untill a shiny appears then catch it when it shows up. Try it for a real challenge!!) I love your videos by the way.😎♥️✌️
It gave a red jar. Link just picked it up so fast that you pretty much can’t see it. But you know it because the magic bar refills after casting fairy. Also if you slow the speed of the video down to 0.25x you can see it.
