A great deal of Jedi Masters were killed in the war, Mostly leaving younglings or not fully trained masters yet still knights. It truly was a win-win situation for The future emperor.

Two words. SLAVE ARMY. Grown against their will, robbed of free agency, forced to fight and executed if they didn't want to. For the Jedi you had blind obedience to a corrupt Republic that served its own interests first and the people's never. It's no wonder why the Jedi were so blinded by the Dark Side, they were literally fighting for the Sith, struck first and ignored the reasons for the war in the first place.
Flekk Bone Gnawer Yeah but the Jedi were highly incompetent and were very blind to the obvious. They went on missions not authorized and sent children in to lead their troops.

Anakin and plo koon had to be the greatest generals of the clone wars. Compassionate, unorthodox, and always kicked ass. Kenobi was pretty good as well, but I always thought of him more as a jedi politician than a general.
I'm an army veteran and it hurts my little tactical heart every time I see the tactics used in the clone wars. If I wasn't such a big star wars fan, it would have been unbareable to watch. It's reminiscent of WW1 tactics, and the disregard for the common soldier's life certainly fits the bill.
@@goldenbrigain7031 unfortunately they weren't used for such things. Their philosophy and beliefs shouldn't stand in their way like they did in star wars timeline.
I think some of the best Jedi to be under the command of would be Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Plo Koon. They had decent tactics and genuinely cared about their men so they wouldn't put there troops' lives in danger needlessly, unlike a certain four-armed bastard of a Jedi who will not be named right now. In fact, a recent comic series(Clone Wars Battle Tales) delves into why the Clone forces under these three Jedi respected and trusted them so much and it's basically all the same reasons: They never leave a man behind and the Clones aren't expendable to them. And here are the examples from the comics: 1.) Anakin stayed behind to let his Clones escape while he distracted a monster that would have killed him had Rex not come back to help, telling Anakin the same thing he told him and the Clones earlier, "Never leave a man behind." 2.) Plo Koon told Wolffee and the boys their mission went well, while the Separatist forces escaped, all the innocent civilians and the Clones made it back alive, which is the most important thing. 3.) Obi-Wan sent Cody, Boil, Waxxer, and his team on a mission to save some capture Clones, despite not having full approval from the Senate yet and ignoring the more political side of the war, to save the lives of the troops he valued and later told, "You Clones will never be fodder, not on my watch. The Jedi, Clones, Senators, our allies--all of us. We're in this together. And I will fight for each and every one of us in equal measure, now and until the very last day of this war."
Don't forget Quinlan Vos. A Jedi so arrogant and short-sighted, his mistreatment of his clones literally turned them into stone cold killers before and during the time Order 66 came.
@@flipkiller8521 Actually, those Clones weren't Quinlan's unit, they were Oppo Rancisis Clones who got assigned to Quinlan after Oppo was killed during the Siege of Saleucami, and one of those Clones was Faie, who was always a jerk and a stone cold killer regardless of the Jedi he was under, especially evident given how compationet Oppo was.
Jedi: we need to be within whacking distance of the enemy so I can spank them with my laser sword. Clone: Sir, the rest of us are equipped with ranged weaponry. Jedi: how uncivilized... Now come along meat shields!
The thing is, there actually is a strategy to this. We see Anakin and Ahsoka essentially turn themselves into shields to stand between their men and droids. But we also see numerous times where this strategy breaks down
“To be fair, nobody, neither the Jedi nor my clone brothers were ready for that war. I would agree that our relationship was very odd. No one would like to admit it, but we were in a sense, slave child soldiers. This bothered my general. Regardless of this, that war would’ve been better if The Jedi were better integrated into our ranks, as they are skilled monks and fighters, and saved individual lives plenty of times.” CS/CT-8711-12 “Cheng”, former Captain and Scout of the 442nd Siege Battalion
They were both essentially slaves to the Republic. The Jedi were regarded a bit higher but still slaves in every sense. Aside from a few volunteer officers like Yularen, it was the Jedi and the Clones who bled heavily during the clone waars.
@Shayan Which is certainly part of the tragedy. The Jedi probably believed that after the war was over, the clone would be given more rights and freedoms. Thus, the war would be sort of justified and not a waste.
@@avatarspirit57 Technically the Jedi became slaves in the sense that they were too submissive towards the republican interests, but they weren't slaves in the literal sense of the word. They joined to the Old Republic 25.000 years BBY by pure own decision, not because the Republic put a gun towards their heads. The case of the Clone Troopers, sadly is different, because they didn't had a choice from the beginning. They had or had to fight for the Republic against the Seps, not mattering if they liked it or not.
I think the fact that the entire outer rim garrison was wiped out that’s like 100,000+ clones that the Jedi got killed because of their sucky defenses.
Oh, they work great together on the battlefield! But that's only half of it. In fact, Krell is a good example of this: it was well known that he had a high casualty rate. It was well known that he didn't like clones. It was so well known that Anakin felt the need to personally vouch for Rex before he basically handed him over to someone he knew wouldn't value him as a person and military personnel. Why was Krell allowed to continue important missions if all of this was well known?
I think he meant that the Jedi actual fighting tactics didn't work well. They have clones standing in the open and charging a lot. Which is fine if you have a lightsaber, but sucked for the clones.
Geetsly, here's a good suggestion, What if the Mandalorians were General's instead of the Jedi during the Clone Wars? What would the impact be for the Clones throughout the war?
Due to Jedi tactical oversights and screw ups around 5,000 out of the original 10,000 republic commandos were killed. 50% in just one battle by the end of the war only handful of additional commandos had died.
Just want to get this out of the way, the way you read Tarkin's note makes me think you should voice a Imperial officer. With that out of the way, I feel like most Jedi were more fit as frontline soldiers as opposed to generals. Not only because most of them preferred to charge head on into battle, but also because their choice in weaponry would be more fit on the frontlines. The First Battle of Geonosis was a miracle for The Republic, who were lucky that it didn't turn out to be like the real world battle of Gallipoli. (Basically, the WW1 D-Day that failed.)
yeah, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Tarkin here, the Jedi (or at least most of them), definitely shouldn't have been leading armies.
The Jedi also were hypocritical in their belief when it came to the Grievous’s people, as his people were placed in the wrong when they retaliated against and nearly wiped out an alien race that was literally feeding on them as if they were livestock. He is seen as a hero and god by his people for his actions against both the race that they fought against, and the Jedi that defended that race.
*What if the Jedi had to take orders from the Clone Commanders? Like when that scene with Mace meets his first clone commander telling him "Sir, I have five special commando units awaiting your orders sir." instead of that he said to Mace "Sir, your are assigned to Commando unit Gamma-27, report to your commanding officer RC-7221 immediately." The look on Mace's face when he is told he needs to follow orders that are not his own or the Jedi's.*
Basically Jedi= Early ww1 commanders. Clones= French, Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, Russian, Italian, German and British soldiers I excluded some countries like Bulgaria, Romanian and Belgium because I do not know much about them.

The jedi should have been elite soldiers and advisors (highest rank should be captain). Instead of generals, they would be like the arc troopers who went in like commandos
Agreed. The Jedi are more useful as SpecOps rather than generals. Then again, it was also a question as to how many non-clone officers the Republic did have that could and are willing to take command in the GAR?
@@LAV-III They still lack the numbers to actually be frontliners. I was thinking more like cloak-and-dagger type like commandos. A special Jedi Corps involved in specops missions could've gone well for the GAR. I actually wondered why nobody in the GAR actually thought of that.
“Commander Fox, Execute Order 65. Evidence has come up that the Chancellor is leading both sides of this debacle of a conflict.” (Good soldiers follow orders) “Understood Admiral. Alright men, the Chancellor is a traitor and we need to go capture or kill that sleemo!” “Sir yes sir!” Cue the Corusant Guard, the Jedi, and any other units on planet going for The Senate assuming the actual Senate doesn’t not do something for once.
I personally feel like the Jedi that showed they where devoted enough to victory like Anakin, & Kerll (before they found out he was a traitor) should have been made special agents like Commandos, or ARC troopers. There’s a difference between Warriors & Soldiers.
Nothing like putting an order of monks who have had minimal military expierence in the last millenia in charge of an army of expensive well trained warriors whose strengths are the exact opposite of the space wizards who use swords.
It honestly makes me feel disdain and sadness to watch the Clone Wars for this reason. Because they do a good job portraying this exact issue, but they make you feel connected to each individual clone. I don't want to watch a unit of a army of basically people I care about to follow getting slaughtered en masse knowing that they understand their situation but they were stuck there like pigs for slaughter by their creators. Just leaves a sick feeling in my stomach when I see Jedi and Clones fighting together. And it shows even more the deviousness of Palpatine machinations and the suffering they brought.
If I was in charge of the GAR and was trying to win the war, no Palpatine involvement or anything, I’d have used the Jedi as a sort of elite shock trooper, used to break enemy lines in lightning assaults, or as infiltrators to sabotage key facilities.
So remember the Jedi said “we’re keepers of the peace, not soldiers.” What they didn’t say was “we’re keepers of the peace, not soldiers or generals.” They mainly acted as generals in the clone wars. I’m just trying to say that they didn’t lie when they said that their not soldiers.
I mean, most of the Jedi had about five minutes to process the fact that they were now Generals of an army they didn't know existed and had to lead men into battle...I doubt any of us would have done any better. But after that first day whoever didn't make an effort to analyze their decisions and make corrections, yeah, it's on them from that point on.
What if clone tactics had been used on Geonosis? Would that have changed the war? Also, in defense of the Jedi...it’s the only way they knew how to fight, having been abducted and taught that way since infancy.
Didn't the republic only win because of the shutdown command? The conflict only lasted as long as sidious needed to recruit Anakin, and swing the public mood enough to create his empire.
Dooku, Grievous, and the Separatist Council were dead, although the Separatist Senate still existed and there were still many Generals and Admirals, the fact was that the Confederacy had lost its ability to continue the war effectively
Now, I have no intention of defending Windu here, but... That ludicrous speech at Anaxes was a brilliant distraction. Any good soldier (or person with some common sense) would have taken that chance to get into cover, but the clones just stood there. This one is on them (or on Dave Filoni for that unimaginably silly scene, I guess, but let's not tear down the fourth wall).
While I'm not familiar with the exact tactics in the days of Satele Shan, Jace Malcom, and Darth Malgus, I am sure of this: Jedi authority was respected, but not because of an official rank. While some Jedi attained high military ranks, it was the ones who'd earned it that did; they weren't giving military authority to every Jedi master, knight, and padawan. I believe that if the lessons of the Great Galactic War were heeded, despite being over three and a half millennia before the Clone Wars, it would have been a very different war. At the same time: yeah, Palpatine knew what would happen when he did that.
The best way? Just take the jedi away from leadership positions and use them as special infiltrating units. Maybe give them a few clones in support roles but don't give them entire armies.
bugged life mechanics Jedi: “alright we shall lay siege to the planet and conduct precision orbital strike and-“ clone during order 66: “shut the fuck up” *kills and throws his general out the airlock* “know you fucking place, trash!”
i think it is a bit harsh to say that the jedi screwd themself on geonosis, bevause for most of them there maybe have been visual struggels in the republic, but to think from one day to the other you would go from peace keeper to general for an army you didnt know anything until they landed next to you and said "we await your orders general". yeah they fucked up the rest and didnt change at all, but the first battle on geonosis isnt really their fault in my opinion, i think it was just wrong to set jedi as generals, maybe they should be "an attached militarty personal to the commander of a cloneunit to help decions making and going on elite missions"
In fairness the droids were engaging in the same tactics that the jedi were used to countering with their old ways, so they saw their method of dealing with it as elementary.
i wonder what would have happened if the jedi used their normal tactics but at the same time used the clones in a more traditional way such as ranged support from cover while the jedi did their thing up close and personal.
Just imagine if the jedi did covert ops along with like commandos imagine 2-5 jedi and a squad of commandos could so they would be unstoppable could really fuck shit up behind the scenes
Maybe not as primary generals, but I think Jedi would make the best advisors/special forces lead there are. As advisors to a general, Jedi would basically be able to offer supreme advice and council, with the ability to see through time. They would also be the best bodyguards in the universe, with a combat value equal to whole squads of elite soldiers, and the ability to sense bombs/ambushes before they even happened. You couldn't get a better guardian for your general, or aide for that matter. They would also be able to play to their strengths in small unit tactics with special forces on specific missions, massively increasing a unit's combat ability, subterfuge and mobility.
Optimal strategy would have been to have Jedi do what they had always been doing, as peacekeepers/police/negotiators and solving strategic problems (aka. special forces).
general grievous was the better tactision after all he was able to make 10-14 different organizations millitarys into one decently unified force and was able to take palpatine from courusont and many other victories
Because of the jedi tactics, the war went on longer than it needed to. If the jedi had listened to officers who knew what they where doing we would have ended the war a lot sooner.
The Jedi were 1 day away from winning thou! If skywalker didn’t attack mace, and stood for what was right, it would’ve been all for nothing! It’s also a written story, to have failed, things always could’ve been different
I do admit that i would have agreed with Tarkin in a sense that this is not how you run a war. Especially since the Jedi were inexperienced in leading the military that costed a lot of unnecessary loss of military equipment and lives since the Republic wasn't doing as much well during the war. And there was only a few Jedi like Kota who had actually military experience before becoming a jedi.
Hey Geetsly's How do you think the Clone Wars would have turned out if the Jedi weren't given the leadership roles in the GAR that they had ? If the Jedi stuck to the role of peacekeepers rather than becoming soldiers during the entirety of the CW.
geetsly what would happen if there was no clone army and instead like our worlds military where your enlisted or volunteer to be in the grand army of the republic would it have been possible for human and aliens to fight along side the clones even if normalhumans are not as good as the clones where but could still be stationed on the same ships as the jedi and clones?

@@velvetdemise6 yeah I know but I don't think they were officially part of the Republic and were not under control of Republic government in the Old Republic. i love hoe tarkin says " is a hairs breadth a comfortable margin in which to risk the outcome of a war?" yet he did that in episode 4 and failed in taking that risk of loading the death star a few more minutes to destroy the base also why didn't they just move the death star to the front of yavin instead of in between the planet and the moon?
One could think that this could be fixed if Sidious wasn't present in the ecuation, and one of two things; 1. Every single Jedi was forced by the GAR to read tactical manuals or at least have some military lessons with actual academy officers after Geonosis or 2. They are replaced with actual generals, and are more relegated as special units, like Commandos, but not with the enough hierarchy power to give general orders. But searching in the Wookiepedia, I found that the situation is even bigger in scale than we can initially think, at least in Legends. The earliest records of having the Jedi Knights as generals came from the ancient Mandalorian Wars, with the Revanchists entering the war. With the Republic in a dire situation, they gave the Jedi the ranks of generals. Contrary to the Clone Wars, however, they seemed to be better tacticians than their descendants, specially thanks to the fact that the Jedi Order of the Old Republic were way more involved in conventional warfare than the prequel Galactic Republic era Jedi Order and also to Revan, who despite being a Jedi Knight and not an actual member of the military, had extreme talent in tactics and strategy, also because he was very hungry for knowledge. He encouraged the Jedi that followed his way to learn about tactics. Almost the same story repeated during the Great Galactic War, and as you said, again during the New Sith Wars. They then remained for 1.000 years finally as peacekeepers, until the Clone Wars raged out. Yet, I'm still puzzled why no more members in the military questioned the actual capabilities of the Jedi as generals during the Clone Wars (even if the most of them became better generals as the war progressed) like Wilhuff Tarkin (thought I understand, again, that everything was manipulated by Sidious in the shadows). Maybe with a Jedi Knight similar to Revan tactical talent and charisma could have changed things for good to the Republic. The closest one would be Anakin Skywalker. Both Revan and Anakin were hailed as war heroes by the Republic propaganda (Revan known as the "Prodigal Knight" and Anakin as "The Hero With No Fear", both in Canon and Legends to the later one) and they were actually considered as such by the general populace, but unlike Anakin, Revan eventually was declared by Supreme Chancellor Tol Cressa in 3.962 BBY as Supreme Commander of the Republic Military, taking the entire control of the GAR of those times, contrary to Anakin who remained always as a Jedi General. Still, I don't believe Jedi and Clones aren't a good combination and therefore are doomed from the start. It just requieres training. In fact, Jedi in their purest form can give awareness to conflicts, with Jedi in command, is harder to see them doing moral and ethic shortcuts, compared to normal military officers, who aren't peacekeepers. Revan, despite becoming more machiavellian towards the end of the Mandalorian Wars, proposed the idea of creating an organization called as the Republic Mercy Corps, to convince more or less the Council to accept more Jedi volunteer to be in the war. They also started to implement more their powers towards Force Healing to heal wounded during and after battles, as for assisting damage or the civilian populace (until Revan started to fell more and more towards the darkside). That is my perspective.

One of the purposes of the war was to “thin out” the Jedi order just enough, so when the grand plan was utilized there wouldn’t be enough Jedi to oppose him.... A great deal of Jedi Masters were killed in the war, Mostly leaving younglings or not fully trained masters yet still knights. It truly was a win-win situation for The future emperor.
Jedi: we want peace
*turns and chops off someone’s hand instead of their gun to stop them*
I've always wanted a scene where a Jedi fights a force user who uses blasters. When he uses he complains about using such a dishonorable weapon.
His opponent responds "At least mine has a stun setting," and knocks the Jedi out.
@@Banchoking well, technically some slightsabers, if not all of them, had the ability to lower the "heat" of the blade so it wouldn't cut through something or someone, though this was mostly used for training and probably sparing

*Enrolling to the empire*
Palpatine and Plagueis were true geniuses.
Flekk Bone Gnawer Yeah but the Jedi were highly incompetent and were very blind to the obvious. They went on missions not authorized and sent children in to lead their troops.

Christian Newaye Clone force 99 and clone commandos aren’t clone Commanders. You even read what he said?
Anakin and plo koon had to be the greatest generals of the clone wars. Compassionate, unorthodox, and always kicked ass. Kenobi was pretty good as well, but I always thought of him more as a jedi politician than a general.
I mean, he was known as 'The Negotiator'.
Jedi: End the fight with minimal losses.
Clones: End the fight whatever it costs.
Eh, it was more like the Jedi were all talk and didn’t even want to think about fighting in the first place.
And here are the examples from the comics:
1.) Anakin stayed behind to let his Clones escape while he distracted a monster that would have killed him had Rex not come back to help, telling Anakin the same thing he told him and the Clones earlier, "Never leave a man behind."
2.) Plo Koon told Wolffee and the boys their mission went well, while the Separatist forces escaped, all the innocent civilians and the Clones made it back alive, which is the most important thing.
But we also see numerous times where this strategy breaks down
I like the rolling of the “R’s” when he reads tarkin’s quotes. Just beautiful.
@Jackson Pierce nice

4,982 - RC1207 MIA
Just want to get this out of the way, the way you read Tarkin's note makes me think you should voice a Imperial officer.
With that out of the way, I feel like most Jedi were more fit as frontline soldiers as opposed to generals. Not only because most of them preferred to charge head on into battle, but also because their choice in weaponry would be more fit on the frontlines.
The First Battle of Geonosis was a miracle for The Republic, who were lucky that it didn't turn out to be like the real world battle of Gallipoli. (Basically, the WW1 D-Day that failed.)
yeah, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Tarkin here, the Jedi (or at least most of them), definitely shouldn't have been leading armies.
mah boy tarkin spiting some facts
The Jedi also were hypocritical in their belief when it came to the Grievous’s people, as his people were placed in the wrong when they retaliated against and nearly wiped out an alien race that was literally feeding on them as if they were livestock. He is seen as a hero and god by his people for his actions against both the race that they fought against, and the Jedi that defended that race.
Of course Tarkin would be the only one to question the entire droid arc
*What if the Jedi had to take orders from the Clone Commanders? Like when that scene with Mace meets his first clone commander telling him "Sir, I have five special commando units awaiting your orders sir." instead of that he said to Mace "Sir, your are assigned to Commando unit Gamma-27, report to your commanding officer RC-7221 immediately." The look on Mace's face when he is told he needs to follow orders that are not his own or the Jedi's.*
Basically Jedi= Early ww1 commanders.
Clones= French, Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, Russian, Italian, German and British soldiers
I excluded some countries like Bulgaria, Romanian and Belgium because I do not know much about them.
Commander Ponds:" Master Windu we have a whole ass battalion at your disposal."
Mace:" dayymnn alright. Lets waste those droids and that bigass spider. "

Yeah they would fill a sort of shock trooper role since they are practically super soldiers
@@LAV-III They still lack the numbers to actually be frontliners. I was thinking more like cloak-and-dagger type like commandos. A special Jedi Corps involved in specops missions could've gone well for the GAR. I actually wondered why nobody in the GAR actually thought of that.
What would Imperial Officers, during the Clone Wars, do IF they knew Palpatine was playing both sides & such?
“Commander Fox, Execute Order 65. Evidence has come up that the Chancellor is leading both sides of this debacle of a conflict.” (Good soldiers follow orders) “Understood Admiral. Alright men, the Chancellor is a traitor and we need to go capture or kill that sleemo!” “Sir yes sir!” Cue the Corusant Guard, the Jedi, and any other units on planet going for The Senate assuming the actual Senate doesn’t not do something for once.
Two words: Order 65. If WIndu only made public of Anakin's revelation, Palpatine would've been silenced.

Lord hoth huh....something tells me the planet was named after him.
I personally feel like the Jedi that showed they where devoted enough to victory like Anakin, & Kerll (before they found out he was a traitor) should have been made special agents like Commandos, or ARC troopers. There’s a difference between Warriors & Soldiers.
I love it that when you read Tarkin quotes it had his accent
Nothing like putting an order of monks who have had minimal military expierence in the last millenia in charge of an army of expensive well trained warriors whose strengths are the exact opposite of the space wizards who use swords.
I wish they'd make a Ken Burns style mockumentary of the Clone Wars, it'd be amazing
Tarkin trolling D-Squad.... hahaha!
I just love how dumb ideas, which are usually just screenwriters trying to make something look cool, are explained so well by writers after the fact.
So remember the Jedi said “we’re keepers of the peace, not soldiers.” What they didn’t say was “we’re keepers of the peace, not soldiers or generals.” They mainly acted as generals in the clone wars. I’m just trying to say that they didn’t lie when they said that their not soldiers.
is it strange that I really wish the clones had said "bruh" now? lol
Bruh wtf are these thumbnails? They make my day 😭😂
the slave army thing made me so uncomfortable asf especially since the jedi were supposed to be damn peacekeepers NOT WARLORDS.
@@nobleman9393 Which was Palpatine's plan. He planned to neuter the CIS and get rid of the Jedi at the same time.

Satele earned her stripes by personally leading the Republic's Armies without expecting privileges or accolades.
The best way? Just take the jedi away from leadership positions and use them as special infiltrating units. Maybe give them a few clones in support roles but don't give them entire armies.
It was actually 4 years that the clones wars lasted , and the for the clones it felt like 8

i think it is a bit harsh to say that the jedi screwd themself on geonosis, bevause for most of them there maybe have been visual struggels in the republic, but to think from one day to the other you would go from peace keeper to general for an army you didnt know anything until they landed next to you and said "we await your orders general". yeah they fucked up the rest and didnt change at all, but the first battle on geonosis isnt really their fault in my opinion, i think it was just wrong to set jedi as generals, maybe they should be "an attached militarty personal to the commander of a cloneunit to help decions making and going on elite missions"
You even nailed the roller Rs for the Tarkin quotes lmao
Your channel is super cool I love Star Wars channels like generation tech you Star Wars theory and stupendous wave
What always annoy me is how many clones were wasted because of jedi leadership
In fairness the droids were engaging in the same tactics that the jedi were used to countering with their old ways, so they saw their method of dealing with it as elementary.
I'm still fucking laughing at the cover picture I can see a clone trooper snapping and yell that out
i wonder what would have happened if the jedi used their normal tactics but at the same time used the clones in a more traditional way such as ranged support from cover while the jedi did their thing up close and personal.
Man, using Hoth's tactics is like trying to use William the Conqueror's tactics in a modern day conflict.
Optimal strategy would have been to have Jedi do what they had always been doing, as peacekeepers/police/negotiators and solving strategic problems (aka. special forces).
The Jedi were no strangers to war! They knew the rules and so do I!

@@tomaskops7119 ah okay that would make sense
"Who had the best tactical approach in the Clone Wars?" Easy. Darth Sidious.
Damn dude this is amazing. Not being sarcastic.
