I’m so tired of hearing people say, “we aren’t ready…no one will vote for a black woman…etc” Why? People are projecting. We helped build it - we can lead it !!

Love this commentary. Please unpack women of color in leadership and their “likability”. I have to be honest, I was blown away by all of the chaos her nomination caused, especially around black men.

likeability and being "dynamic" applies differently to anyone who is not a man. i have always said that

You better preach and I LOVE this podcast! I'm in IT so I deal with it EVERY day! I would rather be RESPECTED than LIKED. I have also heard rumors of VP Harris being "difficult" but how much is it that people cannot handle reporting to a black women. I know the code words because if you are a woman and you speak your mind you are labeled "difficult" but if a man does the same he is labeled as "someone who takes charge"........ In my opinion, the decision is between VP Harris and Trump. How many people quit the Trump administration? He basically had a revolving door! And his own VP will not vote for him. In addition, I will never vote for a sexual abuser and convicted felon.

I think President Obama, not coming out immediately and supporting Vice President Harris, is giving President Biden the respect he deserves and also a very professional approach because President Biden would appear like a "lame duck". Waiting until the DNC would be a great time for his support. With President Obama and President Biden, together, supporting Vice President Harris, in front of the American people, would solidify the Democratic Party.

Why is it that when a black woman runs, her qualifications come into question. I have never heard anyone talk about Trump's qualifications. I guess being a failed budiness man id what we need. Same thing happened when Judge Ketanji Brown-Jackson was nominated. She is the most qualified judge on the court.

Most men are intimidated by women with power and not just in the political sphere. It’s hard to find men who see most women as their equals especially women who present as intelligent . I have found a way to cycle around this other than to dumb down for acceptance which I haven’t learned to do. That kept me from getting seated at many tables although used for thoughts vision and ideas by others.

Vice President Harris and I are both Black & Indian, but we look so different. This election cycle is so different from anything we have seen here in the US, and even though I am not a voter, because I am not an American, even I know that it is important for everyone to go out and register and vote. I believe that Harris is the best choice, and she is brilliantly positioned to make a tremendous difference in this country that will last generations. Thank you ladies for this conversation. I love you ladies.

You’d think her biracial status would make her more appealing to both sides. Not necessarily the benefit it could be!
Look at Amber Rose’s biracial definition, unlike Kamala’s who leans more toward black culture in my opinion.

I was excited for Obama being the 1st black man to become president. As far as Kamala, the only thing that I am excited about is that she is a woman because that in itself is different. Especially since she is also the 1st black female or just female vice president ever. Her being black does nothing for me because we been there and done that. Even though she is my kind color wise, I am excited that she is female like me 😊

The Obama thing has me remembering that he had some sexist behaviors with both Hillary and Kamala, he had to walk back some comment about focusing on her looks. He will endorse her, but the foot dragging is problematic.

So the comment that Margo stated" You don't have to work for her" I am taking this out of context. We have to work for her, if she becomes the President. As much as she works for us and the good of this country. We all vote for who we like. But I think a better thought is "People don't like Trump" yet they are still willing to vote for him and his "Pola-Tricks". What are we to do?

Definitely feeling optimistic. But as a Black American woman, my concern is that with Kamala as POTUS, the issues will be focused on women’s issues as a whole- and nothing that addresses obstacles facing Black women. In other words, reproductive rights (which are definitely top of the list) will be the main focus concerning women, because it involves Whife women. But there will be zero convo about racist sexism that targets Black women in healthcare, law enforcement, etc.

This is such an important conversation. Past November the enthusiasm has to continue. After Obama’s first inaugural we definitely fumbled the bag and allowed the loss of the house which hobbled him. In order to secure and bolster her administration we will need to regain house and maintain the senate.
