    Our inverter stopped working after 6+ years were quoted £1200 for replacement so searches the net for answers and found your TH-cam video we followed your instructions and low and behold exactly the same issue all now fixed and working fine we are very grateful for your video's saved us a lot of money and only took us about an hour to do.

    Many thanks for making this video. My Aurora power one inverter failed after ten years in exactly the way you describe. I ordered the four relays via eBay from a very helpful company in Axminster, and they arrived within 24 hours. My inverter Is now repaired, and back to exporting to the grid. The only extra thing I had to do was reset the inverter clock, also described elsewhere on TH-cam. Thanks again guys

    Nice work…yeah common fault on the Aurora’s. Capacitors sometimes go as well. And yes, inverters are usually powered up by the DC side. Nice job dad 👍

    Helpful videos, thanks. Having now dealt with our E031, I can feed back a few things to make this job easier. First is that disconnecting the grid cable at the PCB will make handling the PCB thereafter much easier. Secondly, it is much easier to lay the unit on it's front when removing the backplate and mounting brackets. Then, without repositioning the unit, you can pivot the inner metal backplate up to remove the ribbon cable, and then keep pivoting it over to almost 180 degrees, and you will find that the inner backplate will sit nicely in this position making it really easy to remove the remaining cables, and then the PCB. Finally, if we consider that the output, or product of this unit is is mains power, then it is logical that it must receive it's own operating power from elsewhere. Note that part of the start up process is to check for the presence of the grid, and this check would not be possible (or would be redundant) if the operating power to do so was coming from the grid.

    Thank you.
    Changed 3 relays which had obvious issues with the solder joints Added extra wiring as you suggested
    Connected the two solar strings and ac. No more E031 error codes and generating electricity as before.
    Only difficulty was removing the relays after desoldering. One coil connection had not been fully desoldered and the fine track lifted as I was jiggling it about. Fortunately the track did not break . Just want others to be aware to use a good solder sucker and solder braid
    Once again many thanks

    The failure is not the PCB, but the relay contacts going high resistance which then is causing the overheating.

    do you know what causes E033 error? The converter is in Arizona, it is definitely not overcooled.

    Great video - apologies for the dumb question but at 27:02 you mention about jumpering the wire between the track, but from what I can see is that you are jumpering between one relay and another. How can you identify this is on the same track?

    Hi, Thanks for the reference, my series of videos all come from just wanting to know because this is a very common problem. Put it back in the loft, there's your problem, heat. I have a video about extending inverter life, cheers

      Hi Andy, great to hear from you. Thanks again for your excellent videos, without which we would not have tackled repairing our Power One Aurora inverter. Since the repair in the video was done, the inverter has been working great, so we're very happy that we managed to give it new life. I do understand what you're saying about heat and that mounting these units in the loft isn't the best place. Unfortunately this is where the original installers located ours so very difficult to change now. Thanks for the comment and support!

    Hello, 3000 watt solartronics full sinus inverter fault light is on. When the inverter is turned on, a relay tripping sound is heard, then the fault light is on, what do you think could be the problem?

    • @HDTechLogic
      @HDTechLogic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @suat aydemir. Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately we don't know about your inverter, however consider looking around the main circuit board to see if there is any visible damage around the relays. If there is, it could well be the relays / solder joints. Hope this helps.

    Hi mate
    Great video. Mines gone too. I have ordered relays. Soldering iron and tools needed. Only thing I haven’t got is the jump wire. Do you think it is entirely necessary to jump?also a tad confused on positioning on cable on both sides of pcb

    • @HDTechLogic
      @HDTechLogic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @roop hayre, hope you're well and glad you enjoyed the video.
      You need a powerful soldering iron to really get the joints properly hot to ensure they are reliable (ours is 80W if that helps). Jumper wires are there to add some extra conductive capacity and help soak the heat away from the relay pins. Make sure the solid core wire goes through the hole along with relay pin to help bulk-up the copper in the via (hole in circuit board where pin goes through).
      Hope this helps and feel more than free to ask if you have any queries. Thanks for your support!

      Hi @roop hayre, thanks for the comments! First of all my apologies for replying very late, TH-cam didn't make me aware of these replies until very recently! The manafacturer may matter with the relays for this, but it really depends on the quality of the build. I would suggest that you use the same brand of relays that we used in the video, just since we know those work for this! Let me know how it goes with the relays that you get/got.

      Hi @Rocky 1962 - thanks for your comment. As demonstrated in the video, the most common cause for no power generation is the E031 error (as the common one at the moment, of course there are still other likely causes). To help out with this, could you please tell me if you are getting an error code on-screen? Thanks!
      Traduction française: Salut @Rocky 1962 - merci pour votre commentaire. Comme le montre la vidéo, la cause la plus courante d'absence de production d'énergie est l'erreur E031 (comme la plus courante en ce moment, il existe bien sûr d'autres causes probables). Pour vous aider, pourriez-vous me dire si vous obtenez un code d'erreur à l'écran ? Merci! (Aussi utilisé Google Traduction !)

    Hi Gents. Fantastic video. Thanks for taking the time to make it. Really helpful for a novice like me. My Aurora inverter has just shown the E031 error after 11 years of trouble free use. Opened it up and only one of my relays has overheated. So bad though that it burnt off the green solder mask or about 1cm at one pin. What size wire did you use for the jumpers?

    • @HDTechLogic

    These relays are two pairs in series doing the grid disconnect, one pair on the Live side the other on the Neutral.
    One side of each pair of coils is commoned, the other side are driven by two different parts of the control circuits. Not sure why they designed it that way.

  • @XXXXIndices

    Rather scary picking up the whole PCB by a relay that is almost completely unsoldered. Good way to rip a track off the PCB. Also your inverter is not going to turn on without DC present from the solar panels!
