    As someone who is also into cracking and hates stuff being sent to landfill I really enjoyed this video. I especially enjoyed the email you sent them informing them how their unwillingness to help was solved and that the unit now does not have to be sent to the landfill. Perhaps they should learn not to store passwords in plain text format. I am fed up with companies wanting you to buy new products and doing their best to lock out and not help to keep older products functioning. It is disgusting considering the times we are living in. Consider me subscribed. I have been watching a few of your videos today but this is the one that made me hit that button as it covered some reverse engineering (cracking) which I already do myself. I have recently started to get into looking at and fixing electronics although I am still very new to this, I have recently manged to get my old iPhone4 running on 18650 batteries, to save that from landfill well that is untill they turn off 3g completely.

    Superbe! Since Aurora/power-one no more on the market, I was stuck because no service password. So a big THANK YOU. Also note that service pwd provided by Aurora were valid only 2 weeks (and to get your service password, you had to provide SN, mfg week and year). I'm using wind inverters in a watermill for more than 15 years, the trick to convert a solar one in a wind one will probably save my installation at some point as wind inverters are difficult to find now.

    Hi i came across your channel while looking for fixes for Milwaukee tower lights I have 3 that don't power on, I had try few things before and can't get them to work, the led chips don't turn on while checking them with a voltmeter I was thinking it was because of a coating on the board or a bad PCB but I haven't had luck finding a replacement that don't costs the price of the light and or the actual leds are the bad ones and haven't been able to get voltage on the output wires that go to the led module I thought it could have been the temperature sensor or even the switch but after seeing some of your video it gave me a bit more confidence to go back and check the boards and try replacing the leds thanks to show that things can be fix if someone actually cares of saving things that otherwise will end on landfills

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jose! I did look to get one of those but it sold for more than I wanted to pay. Do the LEDs all come on together usually? If so I would count them and multiply that by 3.3v that should be the voltage needed to drive them all. I would then check the output of the board and see what you are getting. I had similar with the HUGE Milwaukee floodlight video. Have a look at that one if you didn't see it.

    That settings menu is interesting (16:25). ENEL is the national power grid operator in Italy. CEI is the governing body for electrical standards in Italy, VDE is the same in Germany. AR-N 4105 is a VDE standard for power generation systems. Rule 21 is something similar in California as far as I can tell.
    The reply from the company is utter nonsense. UK nominal mains voltage used to be 240 V +/- 10% (216-264 V) but was lowered to 230 V +/-10% decades ago. So the "new vs. old" argument doesn't make much sense in that regard. The reality is more like UK distribution network operators tend to push the upper limits of the 230 V more often than not, especially in rural areas during off-peak times (mains voltage depends on voltage drop, among other things, and rural supplies tend to have long runs with high voltage drop under load and suppliers try to keep the idle voltage as high as they can to avoid dropping below the minimum under full load). In theory, your DNO could be held responsible for any malfunction or even damage caused by mains voltage exceeding 253 V at the meter. Unfortunately it's quite difficult to actually hold them responsible (TH-camr Big Clive tried I think).
    Large PV setups aggravate the issue because feeding into the grid raises the voltage.

Most likely, most people that contact them don't have the knowledge you have, so they are free to tell them whatever they want and the customer will believe it. • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was just looking through the code 🙂 A lot of programs when you input a password or serial number, compare what you put in to some value which it has to calculate. A neat trick used to be to put the program into a debugger and find out where this check takes place. You then have a few options.. See what value it's comparing against (which would be the correct value which the program has now kindly generated for you) or see which path the program takes if it's correct or incorrect. Then change the code by either changing it to always jump to the correct path, or removing the jump to the part where it says it's incorrect. Have a look at the medical ultrasound video I did similar on that to figure out the engineer password.

      Hi Steve, My keygen says
      990867 = Service Password:889377
      994306 = Service Password:883416
      I know some later models have a different algorithm which seems to take the date and time into the equation.
      I would have thought that the RS485 should work though.
      I have a unit that the password doesn't work in via the service menu, but I can still edit / view all the parameters with the CVI sofware and the RS485. There are a couple of other programs which might work instead of the CVI program called Aurora Manager, and Aurora Manager TL which you might need to use instead. See if you can get any communication going with either of those.

    Hi there, I live in Holland and I do you understand english, but as a nobe, this is out if my league. So I would like to increase the gridvoltage setting on my aurora one. My inverter is at the end of a 30 meter groundcable and due to this resistance 8 volt is added to the the grid voltage. At clear days the grid voltage goes up to 245v. So the inverter measures 253v and shuts down. I really like to find out the service code. My s/n =226650. I hope you can help me to the service password. Thanks in advance🙏

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  ปีที่แล้ว

      The service password should be 115160. If its the same as mine in think theres a setting of +10% which you can change to a maximum of +15% but I found that it seems to reset if the grid power goes away (power cut for example) and reverted back to 10%. I used the engineer software to change the value and it now doesn't lose the configuration.

      I changed the Vgrid value from 230v to 235v and 110% tot 115%. So my new maximum V value is 270v instead of 253V.
      I noticed you have to enter the changed value by pressing enter when your are back in the main menu . (the rotating arrows will change in a lock) I tested the settings after I cut off the power (solar panels and grid) and it seemes to work out perfectly.

You might also be able to do a settings back up/restore via the USB port if you do get it working. We have some Ink printers at work, if the default password set for the end user doent work or is corrupt its possible to use a small supposition formula with the date to work out the 8 digit access code (1234123412 is morphed from the 1234567890 numbers composing the date i.e. the date 15102022 = 11122222 ).

    The 3kW would turn itself off when the sunlight faded, but the 3.6 one doesn't and draws 65W of power all night which is buggerin' up my weekly readings!
    Cheers from (sometimes) sunny Blyth. :)

      This is the 3.6kw in the video. I think you can do it in the settings menu under start up voltage. Default password for that is usually 0000. If not you can do it with a rs485 adapter and the Aurora CVI software. Links in video description 👍

    Hi, thanks for the heads up on this video, can't say I understood it all. Can the ground fault sensing be switched off as I have several of these with an internal ground fault problem. They are un-necessarily sensitive and I wondered if it's an easy adjust, cheers

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not 100% sure on that one Andy. Is the ground fault on the DC side? like the RISO measurement? If so I think I saw something about disabling that.

    • @TheInfoworks
      @TheInfoworks ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BuyitFixit Hi, yes it's RISO, also known as GFI on the DC side. It commonly comes up on the start as 20 M ohms. It's far too sensitive. I would just be working through the unit screen, is it available through this or do you need to use a laptop? I swapped out a HF SMA for an Aurora and the Aurora would not run due to GFI, whereas the SMA was fine, Cheers

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Andy, sorry for the late reply. You would need to use the laptop and an RS485 adapter like shown in the video. I think it was Aurorainstaller.exe which allows you enable / disable the Riso. I haven't long got back in, so can't connect it to the inverter currently, but looking in the code it has these strings: "[RISOEN] DIS" and "[RISOEN] EN" and I'm fairly sure when I was messing about with different progams I saw the option for ENable and DISable :) I think you need to input the service password, but you can get that from the CVI program and use the master password both are in the video description. It may well have the enable / disable in option in the CVI program too.

    Hello I'm new to all this so bear with me
    I have a ABB 6kw inverter and has same problem as you high voltage spikes from grid,i have asked abb salesman for the code to access the parameters to change voltage and frequency but he said the box is out of date and abb wont release the code so im asking for your help can you get me the code ? Thanks Martin

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they wouldn't help me either and said pretty much the same thing, which is why I did this. The engineer code only does limited things anyway. The CVI software did a whole lot more. A few people said the code didn't work for them as it seems they changed something in the firmware on later devices so the code is generated with some mix of the date and time I think. If you give me the serial numbers I can give you a code but it may not work, alternatively you can use an RS485 adapter and the CVI software with the engineer password as listed in the video description.

      I think it was for clearing the logs and resetting all of the stored inverter data back to zero. For the daily generation there is software that does that exact thing. I think its aurora communicator or manager perhaps? I did look at quite a few other programs too. I also replied to Andy Reynolds as he left a comment on the inverter repair video asking if I could make a video like this one.
