Just yesterday I bought this exact model. It cost me 1300 Euros (for cash) in one of my local guitar stores. (1600 MPC) Let me add that this is the top of the FNG Odyssey range, made in Japan guitar that also comes with a hard case. For anyone reading this, let me just state that I have owned (and still own) quite a few guitars in my time, and I have to add that this is probably one of the best playing guitars I have tried...this is no hyperbole. I can't believe I got this guitar for that kind of money, this is easily Fender American custom shop levels of build quality. One of the most surprising things about this guitar is how well the guitar resonates, and holds sustain even with a clean tone, which is surprising considering that it has a floating bridge. All the FGN guitars are pretty great value for money, but this is just on another level.
Hi Jonathan, what a beauty. Stunning clear blue finish marries well with the white pickguard and pickups. Well appointed. Loved the sound and pickups which deliver in ‘spades’. Great tonal qualities and options with a mix of glassy and creamy attributes. Great review. Cheers ✌️🎸💜
I loved every single tone on this stunning guitar Jon. It looks so wonderfully made and you really showed it’s potential in that amazing intro and demo. Cheers Jon 👍😃❤️🙏
Good evening, a little and with a closed eye it slightly reminds me of my SX Stratocater (swamp ash) in almost the same color (I like it very much + 7 other SX). This is of course an exaggeration, the shape of the body (Superstrat), the configuration of the sensors, the price, etc... is different. This is a beautiful guitar with a very nice sound. I like it very much. I won't talk about the sound performance, but....excellent as always. Thank you for a pleasant video for almost Friday midnight (our time). Hello and I wish you a nice weekend. Pavel CZ.👍👍👍
Thanks Jon for another demo! This guitar is one S-Type that I have been considering. I'm really into maple necks and ash bodies LOL. Thanks for the wonderful demonstration.
Jon. I could listen to you playing All Day and that Strat Type was a cracker. I was expecting it to be a lot more expensive with those specs. Nice one my friend 👍🎸🎸
Sounds good! Both guitar and playing. I particularly like the sound of the bridge pickup. Usually they sound too bright and harsh to me, but this sounds sweet.
I actually own an Ibanez Jem VBK from 1990 made by Fujigen (FGN). I am the only owner, so I can testify to the craftsmanship and quality the Fujigen guitarmakers. After seeing this video, I'm going to take a look at these guitars and see if I can find one to try out next time I go abroad.
Jon, I seem to own a cousin of this guitar. It's the Schecter blue California Classic, also made by Fujigen. They call their color ""Transparent Sky Burst". Yeah, I'm a sucker for blue guitars! The Schecter has stainless steel frets and a quilted maple top without a pickguard. And it costs a lot more than the one you got. Some times I wonder if I got ripped off, but I forget that whenever I look at it. Rock on!
It’s funny, because when I first saw the guitar, it looked like a cheap Amazon special. The super white maple neck and the headstock logo just looked cheap. Then you went through the details, and I realized this thing is a gem!
I so enjoy watching your show man! I see your Jesus’ name there; thanks for displaying your faith sir! Thanks! I am a Christian since 1976. I have 25 top Christian songs written. I’ve recorded 8 of them. It would be an absolute pleasure to have you put awesome leads on them . Thanks for not being afraid to show your faith!
Congratulations on your great work over all these years ago. I have a James Tyler HD Studio made in Japan exactly the same as another one that you reviewed and that FGN Expert Odissey. Could you tell me what the similarities and differences would be? Thank you
Hi Jon. Great video as usual. How do you feel this guitar conpares to the Fender Japan Strat lineup currently? Considering a few options for an Strat style Japanese made guitar.
Great review as always. How does this guitar compare to the Pacifica Standars Plus? Im currently in the market for an HSS guitar, and these two are on the shortlist...
@@JonIsJustTooLoud So it's worth the 300-400$ premium it costs over the Pacifica? I really like the features of this guitar, especially the compound radius fretboard and the "quick" humbucker switch, and you can't beat Japanese workmanship but I love the Rupert Neve pickup sound, oh man .....what a hard choice...:)
Hi, I'm really thinking of purchasing this guitar. I just wanted to know, how the neck pickup compares to the neck pickup of their BST-R GUITAR. I can get SRV STYLE SOUND out of it, let say?
Is there any better guitar than a Strat ? Anyway this FGN is so beautiful with that ash grain seen through the blue color. Sound wise it offers a very large range of tones. No doubt Japan makes pieces of art for whatever they build, like Yamaha guitars (and bikes ) . As usual such a goid music to start your demo, quite groovy this time, thanks.
Hello, does anyone know what's being upgraded from this gen2 version from gen1 version? I know the pickups are switched to gen2, but i have no idea what else is changed.
I love your channel and you are a great musician, but how many dozens more Fender Strat clones need to be made. How much more can be really done to it at this stage in the game other than try to make them cheaper. With all due respect to everyone, for me personally, my Fender American Ultra Strat suits me perfectly.
I only watch your channel for the musical entertainment nowadays. I used to watch it in order to learn about the guitars, but then I realized YOU could be playing a tennis racquet and it would sound STELLAR! I’ve heard many guitars that sound better than this particular one, but if I could make it sound like you do, I’d buy ten of them.

I have the same FGN, but in the 2012 configuration, and red transparent. The build quality is impeccable.
FGN is the best factory of all.
I agree
Nice instrument and wonderful playing.
Glad you like it!
What a treat from Jon!
Stunning guitar played and demonstrated beautifully, a joy as always .. thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
They should send you their newer updated models with SS frets and nice exotic tops. This guitar is already well known and inspected :)
We’ll see..✌️❤️

What Fujigen dont know about making great guitars they could write on the back of stamp!
Lol
I have exactly the same guitar, but maybe it's the previous version... great instrument! You play it so much better than me,,,
So cool.. when did you get it?

Yes you can
Do the single coil pickups have the single coil hum or are they noiseless pickups?
Not noiseless
Which would you choose between the Fujigen Expert Odyssey with the Ernie Ball Music Man Cutlass RS HSS?
the Fujigen..❤️
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Can I know the reason Jon? I’m curious because i’m having a difficult decision between them both and can’t get my hands on both
@nathanaelnelson1203 both guitars have their own merits.. I just prefer the fact that the Fujigen expert odyssey is made in Japan
