Don't know why I am going to embarrass myself like this, but I am going to say it... I can't tell if the guitar was a HB or some custom hand made single cut. TLDR, it just sounds absolutely fine! HB have done a darn good job at making these available to more people. Thanks Jon for sharing!
@@Hickeroar... That's so true. I have many import guitars and some are of great quality. Heck, I could get 5 to 10 of those guitars for what Gibson or PRS go for at almost the same quality. Imports just don't hold their resale value. Some imports are aesthetically stunners too. If you tried getting a name brand to customize your guitar... the price would be exuberant! Companies like HB, Firefly, are giving us quality instruments at VERY cheap prices! I wish they were around when I started my guitar addiction.
That top is flat out gorgeous, and the tones are honestly absolutely awesome. Ive actually been watching your guitar demos for probably ten years now, since you demoed the Harley Benton Rickenbacher inspired electric 12 string, and it looks to me like Harley Benton has made it into the winners circle of fancy maple top single cuts here, the tones are just so juicy, and your playing has also made a similar jump, just outstanding all around here. I would check this guitar out and I do have a custom shop R8 Les Paul to keep things honest in comparing .
Congrats Jon! You are the first TH-camr to feature this guitar in a review/demo for us to see. I did not buy this guitar (yet) because I wanted some one to make a good review about it. Only YOU can show us how good (or bad) an instrument can sound and play. You have made up my mind - I am buying it now !! Thanks for your videos as always ! Cheers MAX
Not just great, but AWESOME! Still keep in mind that if Thomann delivered to dealers around the world, these would cost double or triple.....😳 Nice demo, love from Switzerland🎸🤘🏼🎸👊🏼
Love this!!! What a coincidence! Just got my HB SC III in black, today, with a B-Stock Thomann LP case and am loving it! This guitar is literally a steal for its price. Great review and playing as always! ❤🤘🎉
Good sunday morning uncle Jon. Listened to this while preparing for service... I do hope one day Harley Benton can be easily access in Indonesia.. I really in love with Fusion III HSH version.. and this one just amazing as well.
Are you kidding?!? Indonesia has a couple guitar manufacturers that make very, very nice guitars. Even these upper end Harley Benton guitars are made in Indonesia. A Fender Custom telecaster I have is made there. Surely there must be a way you can get them. Wish you luck. 🤞
@@charlesharper7292 hi bro.. the last time i checked (maybe many years ago) Harley Benton are only available via Thomann.. so must import from Germany to Indonesia... but perhaps they are official dealer to Indonesia now.. but I haven't heard yet..
@@flutediary unfortunately not. They are made in Indonesia and sent to Thomann in Germany. I didn't know if you could source a guitar directly from the factory. Seems like everything just has to be difficult.😂 Will Thomann ship to you?
@@charlesharper7292 Thomann can ship to Indonesia. but the taxes and shipping cost defeat the purpose to get HB guitar, which is a budget guitar actually. so, need to travel to singapore and visit you and uncle Jon to try this guitar 😄
Outsource, mass production (economy of scale), direct sale (no middleman, only sold by Thomann) and little to no marketing other than sending review units to TH-camrs.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Yes, I like my Harley Benton as well. ST-62. :) This also looks pretty cool. I'd maybe go for some Gibson 57 Classic PAF's, just because I am a freak lol... :D Not because It doesn't sound good... Veryyy cool review! Cheers!
Got an Hartley Benton SC Custom II and it is great. The timber is so harmonic, it seems an acoustic one, when not plugged in! Just great, but I do not like the 2 volumes and sooner or later I will change Neck pickup volume to main volume and Bridge pickup volume to balance (the two pickups).
This new custom looks amazing! Not liking the tribal design on the headstock though, cheapens the look. Sounds good and looks great! Thanks for the demo Jon!
That is a staggering amount of guitar for £250 here in the UK. Speedy edit: The Tesla pickups site does list all the relevant information (DC Resistance, Resonant Peak, Magnet type etc) but not an output in Henries or mV. Hardly surprising but it would be interesting to see exactly what's going on the under the hood.
Sounds great like always. Still enjoying my TE-52 but really eyeballing the Fender player II. On the fence with either the 3 color burst 2 humbucker or the butterscotch blonde both with maple fretboards...
Jon! I love your guitar demos just to hear your playing! Do you have your own songs or recordings in some platform to listen to? I would love to listen to your music!
My birthday guitar purchase has run over into August...😅 I am at a crossroads between this guitar and the new PRS CE 24 satin. I am leaning more towards this Harley Benton. Minor changes from the Custom II to the Custom III. It got stainless steel frets for sure. I think the pickups are different. Tuners? I was hoping the upper body contour would change to match the one that the SC 550 has. Minor, but prettier. Thanks Jonathan!
Hi Jon, thanks for these review videos, if you can choose between these SC III and that red SC550 you reviewed, which one you pick for your first single cut guitar? Great playing as always, so musical and inspirationing!!!
@@JonIsJustTooLoud I'd been playing my 256 today before seeing your video. There's a lot of similarities and some parts and specs are practically identical. Pickups sound similar- they have a good range for any style. Main visible differences are the inlays and headstock shape. I'd guess these come from plants run by WMI. Nice job Jon, thank you sir.
@@John-il7uz John, I didn't say it did. I said there are numerous obvious similarities between the HB SC and the Ltd Eclipse guitars, suggesting they're made in some of the same factories. And I'm sure there are other notable differences too between these guitars than just the frets, since you brought that up and it's a good point. In this 'more affordable' low and mid price range manufacturers will save or make money where possible. While stainless frets have their good features it's not a critical thing to me and in this case I wouldn't choose the HB just because it has stainless frets. I'd consider everything and buy the best overall value. If I was in the market now for an 'LP-type single-cut' the HB SCs would be at or near my top of the shopping list for quality/value.
Great video, thank you! BTW, I was fumbling with a NUX mg400 and stumbled upon a preset named 'Jon's clear' which sounded quite familiar...are these yours?
I wish Thomann would replace the Jatobas with the ebony wood they use on the fusion series. Jatoba is too reddish, and with the purple burst it would not go well.
Why not put a satin neck on it? I know they are . Great video as alwayscheap and good value but an extra few dollars doing that make it more playable and give larry Carlton sc's a run for there money. I do like the gold top though and would buy that anyway for the colour alone. Great video as always Jon
