    Been following this model of shoe since they released it in Japan. I think they have an incredible design. More companies need to have forward thinking shapes rather than constantly retooling classics from the past.

    • @kevinfortsch
      @kevinfortsch ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Clearweather shoes have been around for a few years and started the offset laces with a fat piece of suede where people flick/slide their toe box. The fact that brands are starting to make shoes again with vertical lace loops rather than regular eyelets to save your laces should have never stopped after the 2000's

    • @RedVelvetUnderground333
      @RedVelvetUnderground333 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Love it it’s designed for skaters. The grippy side is like the Nike zoomtre. Made to last

    • @kevinfortsch
      @kevinfortsch ปีที่แล้ว

      @Pdrew had a pair, the toe box was some crazy perforated rubber, and it lasted 2-3 boards with new grip.

    • @RedVelvetUnderground333
      @RedVelvetUnderground333 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevinfortsch that’s exactly why I wanted them, functional and sporty aesthetic. Skaters ironically don’t like change and that’s why shoes that are innovative rarely succeed.

      Yeah I agreee. Just more impact protection and it’s perfect. And a fatter cup in the heel. Heel flips felt like a vulk shoe.

    I used to play tennis and ran into the same problems of burning holes through my shoe as I did in skateboarding. When I switched to a TENNIS shoe I had no holes. As a skateboarder that's former tennis player I have been saying for years that Super Suede, Nubuck, Faux Lether and all that bullshit is nothing compared to the rubber guard on tennis shoes. I was hyped to see that add on on this model of Asics even tho I will still skate DC Lynx Zeros.

    Can’t wait to get the insoles! As a 34yo dad, I need to get home safely and not sacrifice my ability to go to work. I’ve been picking apart everything going back into skating after a 3 year hiatus, and now that safety is #1 (alongside fun of course), insoles and warmups are non negotiable for me. Thanks Christian!

    I think they look rad and definitely different than other skate shoes. For the longest time we’ve had the most bland looking, one piece toe cap, vulcanized, and homogenized shoes that make everyone look like grey people.
    I’m stoked on something different.

    I have the slip on version of these. I would say the look is a lot more subtle especially in all black. I picked mine up at the Asics flagship store in Tokyo and the price was a bit more reasonable with the USD to Yen conversion right now. They've been my go to for everything the past few months even replacing my regular sneakers for walking around since they are so comfortable. The title of their debut video "Total Comfort" is the real deal. I was surprised by the amount of compliments at the park or just walking around in them. Sadly Asics hasn't brought the slip on to the states yet but hopefully they will at some point. I do plan on picking up the Gel Vikka Pro's since they looked really good in person and have a more timeless look.

    Great review. I wasn't a fan of the design when I first saw them as well, but over time I've started to like the way they look. I'm curious did the "speed bump" feeling go away after some time, or did you just get used to it, or just learn to live with it?

    • @alanalso

    That looks like a vulc not a cup sole. It looks like it is more than one piece and I don't see any stitching. But I don't have them in hand either.

    • @christianflores
      @christianflores  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope they cup. But feel like a vulc. The upper and button of the outsole is 1 peace. So it’s a cup.

    i think its hard to find actually good bmx/ skate shoes these days. i like DC shoes but, only the ones with replaceable soles and stitched engineering. cheap shoes are glued together

    Looks decent and I like that they're trying to apply modern tech. However, I don't think any skate shoe is worth over 80USD. I always buy them on sale, I average at 60-65 USD. We wear these things to destroy it, that's just how it is. I'll buy these on sale, like any other skate shoe.

    This does not look like a skate shoe, Asics is not a skate company, support the real skateboard brands, so sick of athletic brands flooding the culture.

      Unfortunately my favorite skate shoes for about 13 years are Adidas. They just feel so much better

    The tongue is to protect the lace loops

    • @christianflores
      @christianflores  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think the Tongue is doing anything besides being a tongue lol

    • @jordandk3293
      @jordandk3293 ปีที่แล้ว

      @christianflores It definitely protects the loops and is its purpose stated by asics.
