i always liked asics and happy to see them in skateboarding. they got that indoor soccer style shoe aesthetic, which has always had a place in skateboarding. i think shoes get better as they wear, to a point, so i tend to keep them on life support.
I don't even skate, but I've been buying ASICS Gel Vikka for years, because they last long and have a classic look. The pros are just improving on all of that. I just picked up the Japan Pros and the Gel Vikka pro this week.

just got a pair of emerica low vulcs because i too like the more minimal pointy profile. didn't like the insole but just took the insoles from my pillars and put them in. im loving them now
i got some etnies screw mid vulcs, i could feel the pattern of the sole through the insole so i cut a piece of cardboard to fit and doubled the insole. i actually quite like them, remind me of halfcabs a bit. plus they were cheap, 2 pairs for under fifty bucks. i didn't think they would hold up well bc how thin the sole/tread depth was, but they're still skating on life support 😆 i still have the other pair new in box
Nice review. I've been riding that model and the regular Gel Flexkee for many months. The Flexkee, by design, will not shred laces, and it has kept its shape very well, despite being worn since June '22. The board feel on the Vikka's is excellent with its slim, form-fitting design. I feel that the thickness of the sole on the forefoot area is thinner than the Flexkee. I've started riding the Japan S as well and so far they been good. Definitely a more rugged sole and construction than the Vikka.
@@dadboard sorry, not sure what band you're referring to 😅 I haven't weighed them, but I'm pretty sure the Vikka is lighter. Do you have an IG account?

I have these shoes. I love them as well. Looking for another brand as well. You mentioned the Westbrook 508 and Adidas Busenitz. Of those two, which would you recommend?
I just started skating these (in blue and silver) and after two sessions I am a huge fan. Are you still skating these? I can't remember seeing them in more recent videos.
That colorway is sick! No I had one other pair after these but they didn’t feel the same, something about the colorway made them feel bigger and the material didn’t last as long. I still want to skate more ASICS but ive been on a vulc kick lately

Great review, love your videos. Just a quick point though Asics actually started un the late 40's making basketball shoes under the name Onitsuka Co. LTD. Keep up the good work.
Try the new NB Tiago 808s gr8 impact all around support cup sole shoes for us older shredders. 1/2 sizer bigger is the key. I use military spec unbreakable laces. U can Ollie huge gaps like when we were young but r bodies tell us hell no lol. Gr8 VLOG.
I have some 1010’s that I’ve been wearing just as chillers and I don’t think there’s anyway I could skate in them. Way too puffy for my style. Comfy shoe though, I just need a slimmer profile
@@dadboard Gr8 channel by the way. So true they are puffy and take me months to get use to sk8ing in. Awesome for chilling, NBs look like a gr8 walking and relaxing shoe . Love how u sk8 actual street spot. Keep up the gr8 work representing us working Dad's. 😀🙏🏻👍.
TTS but I had a second pair that were dark blue with a black sole and they felt slightly bigger, if you can try to try them on in person or buy from a place that has a good return policy just in case
I think I’m kinda done with vulcs at this point. Maybe I’ll have another halfcab phase down the line but if I were to try to Joslins I think I’d get the cups
No was going to comment the same thing. Try the Joslins (NOT the vulc.) they have. A bit of point, great impact protection, and personally I swap out the already good STI insole with FP kingfoam high. It’s saved my achey knees and back many times.
I got a follow on IG from them so that was pretty sick! I don’t expect anything but you know I’d be squealing like a school girl if that ever happened 😂

Try etnies joslin cupsole shoes. Lasts very long, has enough boardfeel but still priimos wont hurt your feet.

They’re good shoes! U can find some on sale for $60
Not going to lie, it speaks volumes of the laces for them to last longer than the toe. Hold onto that extra set of laces.
