    As an update to its successful older brother, the X-Lite X-1004 N-Com Helmet builds on the features of the 1003 and offers a slightly longer chin guard as well as an accommodating fit for riders who wear glasses. Designed to allow touring riders the modular functionality they enjoy with the performance features of a full face, the X-Lite X-1004 N-Com Helmet is all about maximizing the time in the saddle. Additional features include an ultra-wide, Pinlock-ready face shield, a drop-down inner sun visor, and seamless integration with the N-Com X-Com BX5/BX1 communication systems.

    Bought this helmet for some touring a few years ago. It seemed alright on the way home from the shop, but on the tour soon noticed a few things after a little more extended riding which soon became really annoying, some to the point of actually being a distraction to safe riding.
    1) The chinstrap digs into my neck in a pretty uncomfortable way.
    2) There is a weird annoying whistling noise from the top of the helmet at speed which requires me to move my natural riding position try and minimise it.
    3) The pinlock doesn't fit and the top seam obstructs my vision. It's too low... this one was eventually a deal breaker because it was so annoying and without it the visor fogs up very easily.
    4) The quick release chin strap makes it impossible to connect to the helmet lock on the bike.
    5) The drop down sun visor button is on the left hand side towards the back so unless you want to go into neutral while stopped you have to reach around with your right over the helmet to the other side to engage/disengage it.
    Apart from those things it's not a bad helmet as far as modular helmets go.
    The main one became the pinlock and fogging issue. Just ridiculous that a manufacturer of "premium" helmets supplies a pinlock, the top of which sits about an inch below the visor directly in your line of vision.

    Love this helmet... have had it for about 3 months and put over 3000 miles on it. Very comfortable, flows lots of air, and it feels light on the head. Like you said, because of the airflow it's a little noisier than my Neotec. I have the "ultra carbon" one (Europe) and it definitely feels lighter to me than either the Neotec or the Schuberth C3 Pro. One thing I disagree on is the face shield. On sport or naked bikes, I wear a full face. However, on a touring (BMW GTL) or upright (BMW XR), both of which have windscreens, there is no issue with the face shield not locking down. In fact, I appreciate the ease with which I can open or close it anytime, because it has a good tab right in the middle, where they belong. My Neotec was always a bitch to open while riding because the shield was very tight to the helmet and and the tab was on the side of the shield. So every time I'd go to open it, I'd have to crank the hell out of it, flexing the whole shield, and just waiting for the inevitable crack. Didn't happen, but it was/is still a nuisance. Thanks for all the great and thorough reviews!

    @RevZilla: X-lite 1004 VS Shoei Neotec II. Considering price, quality, reliability, comfort, NOISE, for a KTM 990 Adventure which one would you suggest? Both of them fit really well on my head, I like both but of course the Xlite is 200 euro cheaper! I prefer the lining of Xlite but I always read Shoei is the best, bla, bla, bla......so do I save this 200 euro and I go for Xlite or I do an effort and I buy the Shoei? I could even buy a Xlite carbon and still save money! Thanks a lot!

      Shoei fits me better, so I personally would choose the Shoei. However, for your situation, I'd go with the X-Lite. -DrewZilla

    Hi my question is between HJC is Max 2 modular helmet and the X lite 1004 XCOM modular helmet which one would you say is a better helmet quality. And do they fit the same? I'm also writing a super Naked Bike so would this helmet be the right fit for me thank you

      Well the X-1004 uses a nicer composite shell construction, while the IS-Max 2 uses a more affordable polycarbonate shell construction. Both helmets are well-made and comfortable, but the X-lite does have nicer materials. Both are intermediate oval in shape (the most common head shape), and both work well in the upright riding position of a super naked, so either should work well for you and your bike. -DrewZilla

    This is way off topic but any opinion on Zeus ZS3500? It's a carbon fiber modular helmet

      We don't carry or have any experience with Zeus helmets, so we don't really have an opinion. -DrewZilla

    Is there HJC's rpha 70 review coming up anytime soon?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not anytime soon, as HJC doesn't offer the RPHA 70 here in the US yet. We don't know if or when we'll get it. -DrewZilla
