This has to be the messiest blocked drain of 2023 by a long way! Unblocking a restaurant blocked drain going down stream of the drain from the restaurant and up stream from the grease trap.
    What is a grease trap?
A grease trap is a plumbing device designed to prevent fats, oils, and grease (FOG) from entering the wastewater system. It is commonly used in commercial kitchens, restaurants, and food processing facilities where large amounts of FOG are generated during cooking and food preparation.
The grease trap works by intercepting the wastewater flow and allowing it to cool, which causes the FOG to separate and rise to the top of the trap. The cooled wastewater, with less FOG, then exits the trap and continues to the sewer or septic system. The FOG that has risen to the top of the trap is contained and can be removed periodically by a licensed professional to prevent blockages and build-up in the wastewater system.
Grease traps come in different sizes and types, depending on the volume of wastewater generated and the specific requirements of the facility. It is important to maintain and clean the grease trap regularly to ensure it operates effectively and efficiently.
How to clean and maintain a grease trap?
Cleaning and maintaining a grease trap is essential to ensure its effectiveness and prevent blockages and build-up in the wastewater system. Here are some steps to clean and maintain a grease trap:
Schedule regular cleaning: Grease traps should be cleaned regularly, depending on the volume of wastewater generated and the type of grease trap. A licensed professional should clean and inspect the grease trap regularly to ensure it operates efficiently.
Remove the lid and inspect the trap: The lid of the grease trap should be removed, and the interior of the trap should be inspected for any build-up or blockages. If there is any build-up, it should be removed using a scraper or a ladle.
Pump out the grease: Once the build-up is removed, the grease trap should be pumped out using a vacuum truck or other specialized equipment. The grease should be disposed of according to local regulations.
Clean the trap: The interior of the grease trap should be cleaned using hot water and a high-pressure hose to remove any remaining grease and debris.
Replace the lid and restart the system: Once the cleaning is complete, the lid should be replaced, and the system should be restarted.
In addition to regular cleaning, here are some tips for maintaining a grease trap:
Do not pour grease down the drain: It is important to properly dispose of fats, oils, and grease by collecting them in a separate container and disposing of them according to local regulations.
Use enzyme-based cleaners: Enzyme-based cleaners can help break down the grease and prevent build-up in the grease trap.
Inspect and repair the system: Regular inspections can help identify any issues or damage to the grease trap. Any repairs or replacements should be made promptly to ensure the system operates effectively.

Bruce, my cat and I were glued to the screen watching you clear that long greasy drain. Whew! Several businesses on 1 grease trap with no cleanout points in each of them? I hope they all pay a share of the cost for your work That grease trap looked especially rotten, but the "wildlife" crawling about in it obviously loved it. And those roaches underneath that cover looked plump, juicy and crunchy (now I'm grossing myself out)!! Loved the early morning scenes as you drove in. You live in such a beautiful place. Thanks for all of the work that you do and sharing it with your viewers.

I worked at a sewage treatment plant that is in EVERGREEN, COLORADO, back in 1971!
We were updating the plant that was built in 1952,and we built a new one next to the old one, and connected them together!
So I have a bit of an understanding about the AROMA, especially in the very early mornings!
I can still remember it as if it was just yesterday!
I was a laborer and the other laborer and I were VOLUNTEERE
to get into the the separation tank with a shovel and bucket along with the approximately4feet of "PUDDING" that the sludge pumps were unable to remove!
I WILL NEVER FORGET that AROMA even though we were completely sealed in "WETSUITS,and had air hoses! I don't think I could ever forget that feeling of being chest deep in that
    DELICIOUS PUDDING!
I doubt that they would ever allow that to happen in AUSTRALIA!
You guys are MUCH MORE SOPHISTICATED to play in the PUDDING, RIGHT?
I am a big fan of the channel, so keep the videos coming!

Bruce, you bring back happy memories. From Bournemouth UK, built house in Castlemaine Victoria 10 years ago and plumber thought it would be fun to drop a massive chunk of concrete on top of drain, just before it went into the main drain. (To protect it I guess). It all blocked up just as we were selling up. Don't think we ever contributed to the main drain 😕.
