Lyrics:
When the dying western sun dips low
And the raincloud rises in the east
Between the lines of truth and the words of faith
Lie the fiery duties of the priest
Stir the blood of ancient things
Drawing down the moon
From the hill of Tarna see the Beltane fires
And the silent Celtic kings await
From the midnight hour to the light of dawn
Feel the mountain tremble and your heart will shake
Stir the memories of the stones
We are drawing down the moon
In the circle of the old ways
Of the wicker man
Wicker man, wicker man
From the beacon hill
cast your fire on this land
Wicker man, wicker man
From the beacon hill
throw your ashes on our hands
Let the pendulum go
Let it sway away
Let the chimes ring out
On this solstice day
When the earth renews
When the seed reveals
When we are reborn
Every waking dream
When the earth renews itself
When the seed reveals itself
When the earth renews itself
When the seed reveals itself
When we are reborn
In every waking dream
Every tree and leaf
Every frozen stream
When the earth renews itself
When the seed reveals itself
When we are reborn
In every waking dream
Every tree and leaf
Every frozen stream
When the earth renews itself
When the seed reveals itself - เพลง
Just stopping by for my semi-annual listen of Wicker Man on the solstice day
I never heard someone talk about spring in a more beautiful way. "When the earth renews itself, when the seed reveals itself" This song should have been viewed by more then 5 thousand people, a shame.
This "Wicker Man" is strangely glorious and puts me in a trance. It's so understated and yet powerful. It's like a strange dream that you catch a glimpse of and rush to try and put down in words.
THIS Wickerman is the best of the 2 of them, I LOVE Maiden BUT THIS one is best.
O melhor vocalista do planeta!!
"Wicker man, wicker man
From the beacon hill
cast your fire on this land
Wicker man, wicker man
From the beacon hill
throw your ashes on our hands"
amazing! Bruce Dickinson is the best Singer of this world!
This track was written a few years before the Iron Maiden song by Bruce during his solo period. When Bruce returned to Maiden for the Brave New World album and was writing the song for Maiden. Bruce suggested putting in the line "the shadow of the Wicker man" into the song and Steve Harris therefore decided that WickerMan should be the songs title as at that point the song was unnamed..
Here I am expecting the Maiden version (slight difference in title) instead get something just as epic.
Bruce , you rock
That incredible Voice
Amaaaaaaaaaazing
Best Frontman Ever!!!
Thanks For the Great

The day Bruce stops singing…. Music simply will be no more and melodious songs cease to exist… indeed, the universe will never be the same.
This powerful, hypnotic song which may have not fit quite as well on CHEMICAL or ACCIDENT somehow shines the brightest way possible on the B-Disc of Bruce D Greatest Hits. It's a very good compilation!
Man, that voice...
Bruce forever
It's so funny, that there are quite some song titles that first Bruce used in his solo career, and than they became titles of Maiden songs:
Wicker Man, The Alchemist, Man of Sorrows (I don't know, if I forgot any)
Funny enough it seems Tobias Sammet was inspired by iron maiden and Bruce Dickinson. Because on Edguys Mandrake album he has a song called Jerusalem. On Avantasia the Metal Opera part one, Sign of the Cross and The Tower.
"In the circle of the old ways...let the chimes ring out on this solstice day."
This song gives me Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac vibes especially The Green Manalishi
Can't say I'm massively into Iron Maiden or Bruce D's other solo stuff... but this song is just absoutely fantastic...
THE GOOOOOOOOOOOOD
beautiful. what else can be said
A voice of a god
thanks!!
Adrian Smith and Roy Z
Everyone seems to think this song is about spring. It is not because the day in question is the Winter Solstice, the first day of winter. In Tears of the Dragon the day 'he' waits for is the winter sun. It is the same in a couple other of Bruce's songs. There are many repeating precepts in his songs like frozen emotions, tears he couldn't cry, walking alone, much time passing, etc. Bruce in his songs actually indicate that his songs are a prophecy about a specific personage that he gives the alias of Wicker Man that will come at the end of time. The seed that reveals itself is the same seed as 1 Corinthians 15:38 and Isaiah 66:22. The earth that renews is the new earth of Revelation 21 and Isaiah 66:22. Others may write some of the songs he sings but since the precepts are the same throughout his solo career as well as when he is with Iron Maiden it is clear that the inspiration for the songs come from him. At least that is the way I choose to see it.
It's about 73 film. It's in his autobiography.
he says "from the hill of tarn, I see the beltane fires", that makes it May 1st
"Recorded at Accident of Birth/Chemical Wedding sessions (I'm not sure, does anybody know?)"
Recording began in Accident of Birth sessions, Recording was unfinished for no apparent reason (even Dickinson says he is unsure why they did not finish it because it was one of the favorites of the band), recording completed during Chemical Wedding sessions.
@pyromaniarules According to Bruce it was Steve Harris who decided on the song title. It should be noted that the Bruce solo song hadn't been released yet when the Maiden song came out.
@lardonirdesco yes but the original film, the British film, was released in 1973. So there is the inspiration for this song
So true just finished Bruce's autobiography he says this song is about 73 film
@willharrisbass Yeah I guessed that. the original quote from 6bruce6dickinson6 seems to have been removed. but in it they suggested that the song was inspired by the more recent movie.
i am an iron maiden fun and i underestimated his solo work ... i was wrong ..
The b-sides, and other non album tracks are usually much better than to the ones he puts on the album.
@6bruce6dickinson6 Err no it wasnt. Bruce wrote this song around 95-96, The Wicker Man movie was released in 2006. Ten years apart.
@Danimal77 Did you read my last comment? A previous post which has now been removed suggested the song is based on the terrible 2006 remake (also called The Wicker Man) starring Nic Cage. This cant be true as the song was written (but not released) until before the 2006 movie was released.
Iam well aware of the original movie and am no kid..
so he made this then when he goes back to maiden they make a song with the same name? i like both versions but wouldnt it be confusing for bruce?
Beatleguise beatleguise Beatleguise...Sand worms..ya hate um right?I hate um myself!
this is a far superior song about the wickerman than maidens.
trumps up if you touth that that woud be the wickerman from brave new world
The
Basura mejor que aproveche esa voz con los grandes iron Maiden por qué como solista no tiene nada que hacer, eso es como manejar un Ferrari en carretera destapada
also a iron maiden song....not sure why bruce did that???
Same name different song
