Too many people count on that and it just makes you a target. Birdshot isn’t tiny. Target loads are tiny. Birdshot goes all the way up to .23 caliber. #4 Buckshot is .24 caliber. There are far to many variables to say “this won’t be fatal” when taking about shot sizes. Some of the other factors are, payload, wad design and velocity. Supre-X for $0.34 per round (8:25)? Seriously? The best pricing I could find is almost 3x more than that ($0.98/rnd). I'd love to know where your pricing info came from.
#4 3" birds shot. 1 1/4 oz 1400 fps inside a home the range is close enough the pellets will not spread. One oz and a quarter at 1400 fps will definitely put somebody down even with a vest. The #4 birds shot is used on lots of game so the investigation is of a hunting shotgun. Outdoors my favorite load is 3 1/2" #4 buck. 54 22 caliber shot -- a real crowd pleaser or if used properly crowd scatterer. The shortest factory barrel is not a great deal longer than 18", again a hunting shotgun in court.
I agree birdshot is badass for home defense. It will blow limbs off for sure from close range. Birdshot is also very safe as far as not harming anyone besides your target. I think birdshot or a 9mm 124-148grain is the best bet for home defense

Number 4 or 5 in 10 yards or less ( 30feet) is more than enough. Unless low level body armor is what they have on. But they are going to know it and fast. So use it as buttom of the line and work from there. Practice with the gun. I recommend that you load your gun have a friend stand behind you with a few cans with small rocks in them. Toss them overhead and around you from both sides and Practice hitting them. Remember a close shot is still a long shot.

Why would you have your first shot be something that is very ineffective? If you have to shoot someone it’s more than likely a deadly encounter. why not start deadly?
@@IdkIdk-nt6iq Good question. I guess because the last thing I want to do is use deadly force.. But I will if need be, my life or family is threatened. I work in EMS. the last shotgun ammo from fiocchi are actually great for home defense with small people and women. i fired it in my remington with a reducing recoil pad and it fired like a .22 plinker. also because of the slower velocity it doesnt destroy walls like most, just ome plaster and paint made the problem go away.... just like the 12 gauge shot.
How about a video on strange rounds, like dragonsbreath, signal flare etc
Ohhh thats onw of a kind 😮
My HD 12ga round is one I load myself, a 2.75" 12 pellet #1 Buckshot 1500fps social worker.
The ARM Gatekeeper Slugs are the best slug rounds for home defense in my opinion. Check em out folks.
On the box, it says 1,600 feet per second muzzle velocity, but Hornady uses a 30” test barrel to get their velocity numbers. In actuality it runs just over 1,400 fps out of an 18” or 20” barrel
I use the 00 federal rounds and Black Aces slug rounds
Dixie tri-ball baby!!
I lived in hostile neighborhood and have to defend myself a few times. I found that 12g 00-04 are the best home defense ammo. The new short shells are fantastic.
Birds shot is fine for home defence how many people have rooms bigger than six meters
Me encanta este canal
Thanks for your positive feedback!
the kitcen sink 12gauge is a crazy one to
That one criminal: this info is useful 😉
where is Flechette rounds? those are nasty!!!
I use 4 buck
Buck-shot's, alway's good... Roa aotearoa nui 2024 thomas.
The best home defense is the kind that making sure the "offender" will not show up in court.
Bird shot would be devastating at close range, but quickly expand to be less lethal.
Pdx1 defender is safe in a urban city area? Without over pen?
All very interesting, but if you're dealing with an intruder/attacker that can't be stopped by whatever standard 12 gauge round you happen to have chambered, maybe you should consider moving somewhere safer than Jurassic Park!!!
two words: ROCK. SALT. It is nonlethal, so yeah, the guy will be around to testify against you...but the cops won't be able to charge you with murder or manslaughter if the guy ain't dead.
If your house door is laying on the ground off it’s hinges the “ stand your ground “ law applies.
@@Angelo-fo8de in states with such laws, of course.
Bob Walsh. No you won’t get charged with murder or manslaughter, but you will be stuck with the guy’s hospital bill. If someone breaks into my house they aren’t walking away. Just my 2cents
@@siewenic People should stop with all the nonsense about birdshot rock salt and the like. Self defence is serious buisness and one should us the proper ammo to stop a threat. Use factory made ammo only, because anything other will get you in legal trouble..
@@FC-qe1wl I agree bro. It’s my life vs yours (not you). I wonder if you used birdshot or rock salt if you could get charged with attempted manslaughter or attempted murder. Who knows with how the laws are now. But like you said, self defense is nothing to mess with.
I tested my rio with that fiocchi. Also the Federal and horny Ammo. And my hunch was confirmed. And that’s Keep a box of federal flight by the bed rest or on the home gun. And Use the Fiocchi defense for target practice along with your rio. They both about the same.
@7:02 You mention that the Fiocchi had 1500 fps, but the box clearly says 1300 fps. The box shown afterwards did show, "1500 fps", though. Editing? 😂
Highly recommend Double Ace 00 buck. Great price and stopping power
You didn't cover that rifled brass hollow point slug like to know more on that slug
Being a🇬🇧, would a🇺🇸 "Slug" penetrate a"Cavity Wall" (2 Bricks +1 brick-wide cavity, which MAY contain insulation.)
OR a single Brick thick internal wall?
Depending on the gauge, the load the distance and material, yes.
In an average home from average distance with 12 ga 2¾ slug would penetrate the cavity, yes.
for my home defense ill go for the slug its perfect just be careful whos behind in your target...
What a sotgun
Um abt the bird shot. I took down a 150 lb boat with steel bird shot from 10 ish yards
#4 buckshot should be #1 choice for home defense.
if you are wondering slug shots are war crimes and can not be used in active war/combat as the breacking of the amuniton can esaly penetrat bone
Turkey loads tungsten turkey loads I would like to see some testing please
3:37 lol man when you put it like that 😰
the brass "slugs", RIP?
i want some of those.
great
I got a good deal on a case of buckshot prefer 7 1/2 bird shot go to shell
Please post what the aftermath looks like of using a shotgun inside your home.
Guns solve every problem guns create?
Very helpful for protection.i prefer this kind of gun capacity for protection. Highly recommended..
I carry bird shot double 00 buck and #4 buck in my home defense shot gun due to living in a mobile home I prefer to shoot 2 rounds of bird shot first if they don’t run or go down then I have my #4 and 00 buck
I was about to say I feel bad for deer for being unlucky enough to be hunted, but omg, using these for home defense seems like a literal lie, these are for killing, right? Just, human dismantling the poor bastard who was either unlucky or stupid enough to steal..
Well video game designers seem to be sticking to Remington express magnum when they include a shotgun in their games.
I dont understand these recommendations. You literally gave us a list with most rounds that will rip through walls and people and keep going....
Wouldnt Open choke with lighter pellets be the logical home defense?
Are you aware at 3:41, for the intro for "My List", "SURVIVAL GEAR" is mispelled. Instead, it reads as, "SURVICAL GEAR"?
I like Amal space it when you go on in the woods and you don't know what you're gonna run up on
Excellent information great video thank you very much for the work you did here people need to see what's available and they need to get what they think they need❤❤❤❤❤😂 I prefer to use a high-capacity Auto and I got a 20 round clip and I got four more 20 run clips and after I run out of that it's time to start running
buckshot the best
Number 4 or 5 in 10 yards or less ( 30feet) is more than enough. Unless low level body armor is what they have on. But they are going to know it and fast. So use it as buttom of the line and work from there. Practice with the gun. I recommend that you load your gun have a friend stand behind you with a few cans with small rocks in them. Toss them overhead and around you from both sides and Practice hitting them. Remember a close shot is still a long shot.
12ga high bass 4 shot. Perfect for the 10 yard max in a home.
High" BASS" RKJ.
dumdums in Real life:normal level of dander
dumdums in arena breakout: the killer of leg bones
Its very illegal but that Solid Slug, ....
Yeah bigger is better and stronger but
that big shell can ricochet off from full-metal body armor and cause backfire.
Am day dreaming of a Terminator invasion :P
Bird shot for home defense, you don't need slugs or some other crazy sh;t flying around your house going thru a wall and hitting a family member
Bullshit, a meth fueled intruder will barely slow down with birdshot.
Can you order the ammo outside the usa? Like can it be shipped to your home from the gun shop in usa?
If that's a possibility I'm intressted 😊
Can you have ammo sent to your house in the USA? Yes.
Winchester turkey loads 3.5 in
I don't particularly care for most of my neighbors, so it's magnum slugs for me.
I have had people tell me that #6 birdshot does not have enough wounding power to be effective for home defense. My own view is that if you put a 12 ga load of #6 in center mass at 15 feet and the person on the receiving end is still creating problems, you are probably dealing with a Terminator.
Especially if they have on vests

You're welcome 😁
what is the best for 20 gauge home defense
Excellent vid! 👍🏻
I have rock salt in my chamber. After that it's OO buck, slug, OObuck. Slug.
I leave the dragons breath for special occasions.
I've seen what a 12 gauge does to the human body.. If I can quickly de-esclate a situation with less than lethal I will do so.
12g salt shot is still a serious round. It will mess someone up.
Plus.. It makes my case in court, that I wasn't looking for trouble.... IDK.. good question.
Maybe I should lead with dragons breath first....
@@RIFFRAFF104 I understand you don’t wanna kill anyone but that’s the point of having a gun. You have a gun in case you must kill somebody. If you must draw a firearm the situation is already deadly. Last thing you want is to fire a shot revealing your position just to have that shot not stop the deadly threat and get killed by whoever you were defending yourself and or your family from who, was using real rounds. And The Whole legality Perspective is shaky at best. A prosecutor may use the rock salt against you and say you were shooting to maim which can be a crime. Or he can make up some bs claim that you weren’t at risk of death because you felt comfortable enough to use a round that you felt was not deadly. Prosecutor could also claim you wanted to cause them unnecessary pain.
@@RIFFRAFF104 I’ve also seen people say. “I’ll use rock salt in non deadly situations”. Which is most definitely a crime.
