I (54) love your channel Kurtis! Since I'm an industrial mechanic myself, I know something about what you're doing there. I have been making gears for large gearboxes for almost thirty years! I think it's really great that you still show the outtakes at the end of the video! This shows again and again that we are only human. Greetings from Bocholt Germany.
These repair videos are some of the most satisfying things I watch. Also, "right oh" and "how you going," are becoming some of my favorite hobby work phrases. Hopefully you never stop making these, it hits all the right spots in the brain.
This has become a ritual for me on Fridays. No matter how bad the day is, I will make time for the new CEE video - it does make the day better after all. Cheers for making these, stay like you are!
I welded bridge girders, worked with steel this thick, and played with heavy drills for years. Your videos bring back good (and really bad) memories. Thanks!!
One of the things I’ve noticed and love is the fact you zoom in on the dials and settings of the machinery to help us understand a bit more. Goes over my head half the time but I enjoy it none the less!
Nowadays I work with financial software all day inside but I grew up in a rural area so watching these videos reminds me a lot of growing up. Great work and that's an awesome doggo!
Love the Bloopers.. love the expressions on Kurtis’s face .. We often have a saying here in the U.K… “All the gear and no idea” but in your case .. “All the gear and all the idea”.. great shot Mrs Kurtis of the rebating tool in slow motion cutting the steel, brilliant repair, still amazes me how thick you can flame cut through thick steel..
Karen and Kurtis, thanks for not bleeping out with a 1000 hz tone any ultra descriptive phrases, I was only able to detect maybe 6 Fooks in the out takes.....as always, very enjoyable....this is one of my go to relaxation videos......Cheers, Paul
Being a retired welder/machinist/boiler maker/fabrication specialist I really enjoy your videos. Keep it up, good job. Enjoy the bloopers at the end also.
I only just found you guys, nothing like this on TH-cam, totally amazing!! what a team you both make, editing videos and the filming must take aslong as the job itself, well done to you both 👏
I've honestly never seen anyone welding as well as you. That's god-level welding in its purest form. Love your channel and thoroughly enjoy the bloopers and foreign language at the end.
Kurtis is speaking Australianese. It's a derivative of the Queen's English. Slang, profanity, the consistent shortening of words, ending random words with "o" or "ie" , and inexplicable phrases make up the majority of this language. The Prime Minister's are known to speak full Aussie in order to communicate fluently with the citizen's of our great Nation.
Like the honesty of the first vid, shame you had to take it down, been a Heavy Diesel fitter in a past life, sometimes the description kurtis uses is accurate, amazing what the old hissing hacksaw can do in the right hands, keep up the awesome videos from NZ
Hissing Hacksaw.... LOL. I've always called them the Gas Axe. I love the little train track carriage thingy that automates the cut - the constant speed and no shaking creates a really impressive straight slice!
Karen's favourite machine. The press. Said no one ever. Always amazed at the straight smooth line that can be cut through such thick metal. Always looking forward to Kurtis vs clingwrap videos. Maybe next time. Thnx for another great video
What I really enjoy about watching your videos is how methodically you do your work. The sign of a true professional. It is clear why your business is a success.
I am a private security guard. I have nothing to do with what you do. But I am a person who is interested in every subject that develops himself. your videos take the stress out of my job, it's psychological therapy for me. Lots of love and respect from Turkey. Good luck with...
What did Kurtis say about the horsepower of this dozer... Let's say 800 to the tracks? Can you picture a team of 800 draft horses all harnessed to a "plow" this size to open up the rocky ground of a quarry site? The amount of sheer power being transmitted through this chunk of steel into the job, nearly boggles the mind! One day, off the tip snaps. Then one very skilled boffin in Oz says: "Bring it here mate. I'll set it right." A day later it's back on the job getting dragged through stoney earth by those 800 ponies...good for another 5 years or more.
Excellent video work on this one again. Karen brings us in close on every operation and it really helps with the detailed understanding of what's involved. I really got a sense for just how patient Homeless is when Kurtis was fitting him with the glasses - what a ham and a great part of the family.
Its a gift to know precisely the correct point to switch to fast fwd mode for these. Just right amount of showing the details, and then speeding up to not get bored from the repetition. Brilliant!
Hi Kirtus, I'm now 74 years of age, Retired Cat / Field mechanic, I'm very sorry to say, I'll never get to down under, I wish I had. generally ripping rock does that over time, Where I lived and worked, lot's of blue granite hard stuff. I have to say, high fives to the work you are capable of producing, I never known of anyone here in the states to take a blank the size you have and cut and mill it to fit, a ripper section. You do Superior work. Typically we buy a ripped shank lower end already cut and milled, and weld it on, what you do is amazing. There is no doubt in my mind, The LORD GOD of heaven and earth is blessed you, as for the language, It's up to you to define the man you want to be in all of life. No matter what your environment is. No man needs to foul out, just expand the vocabulary and it's a done deal
Love your videos. As a welding supervisor for navy vessels, you did a great job with how you executed this repair. Keep up the good work and can't wait for your next upload. .
This is the video that out of random popped up in my feed some year ago. I watched it, got hooked, and watched a dozen more videos that weekend :D See you this friday guys!
I,ve sat a top a crane beam welding a 30 mm thick flange that was 700 mm wide for over an hour so I feel your pain welding that joint, still satisfying once completed. Love the channel and the work you do. Keep up the great content guys!.
It was one of the best. I learnt you can turn high speed steel in a lathe (broken drill) this week. And autoexpert says weld metal is stronger than original. Maybe a beep or little animated explosion every now and then might reduce the “ profanity”, and we can always add our own.
It depends on what rod your using but yes most of the time welds are stronger metal then the parent or host material. That’s why you will see new cracks form right next to the edge of a new weld.
So he needs some holes. Does he drill a itty bitty hole then use a boring bar? NO!!! the man grabs a MOTHER HUGE DRILL PRESS FROM HELL and does the whole thing in one pass! Notice the chips; that steel is layered in hardness
You are one talented person and watching you do all this work alone is amazing. Your welding is beyond belief and you make it look so easy. Great job to you and a great video to your better half. Love your dog and he looks so happy with the two of you. Glad he got a home with people that love him.
It's fascinating to watch someone take the world's most powerful equipment on this Earth, and repair/rebuild something that is able to continue to be of use for a company. Without these large machines, the company comes to a complete halt. But also the amount of skill that no book can give. This is acquired by years and years of experience, and the ability to use all your senses and immediately know if it's good.
Sitting here, reading the title and thinking... Damn this is going to be a short one. I am so glad I was wrong and as per normal the level of workmanship going into your work is just on another level.
Man, you have some nice toys. Love that torch setup. You amaze me at what you can do in that shop. The camera work is incredible. Best shop channel on the net. Florida USA👍👍👍👍👍
I was a component engineer in the electrical power generation business. I have seen some pretty incredible production weld/fabrication and machining and some even more incredible weld repairs. You folks are the fabricator masters… Cheers…
I always found the blooper footage or behind the scenes at the end enjoyable. It’s a shame, I enjoyed seeing the realism of what it takes doing videos and Curtis being himself. All I can do now is remember the good old days when people didn’t get offended or you had to worry about offending people.
Speaking of ripper shanks, hi, Homey! Thinking about those outtakes, Karen’s editing is masterful; she even makes *you* look smooth! Have a great weekend, Team CEE!
I enjoy watching Homeless interact with y’all, reminds me so much of mind before he passed. I also enjoy watching all the repairs and how you achieve each one plus your talent for this.
Gday Kurtis and Karen, I reckon when the tip breakers off it would go off with a bang, amazing how much punishment the tyne takes, the shop made counter bore tool works a treat, great video as always mate, thanks heaps, have a great weekend, Cheers
In this video i think u can see that the counterbore or more specific the chamfering was responsible for the crack to start growing. It would be super awesome if u can give us a close up of the cracksurface so we can see its progression if u dont mind. And dont forget every notch can make ur work fail earlier then u expect even if its such a big and heavy piece.
I’ve only did that once. A lot of work goes into that. Love to watch you work because you know what you’re doing and you’re good at it. I look forward to your videos.
Extremely impressive welding and machining skills, but also great videography and editing. I love how he casually mentions that he made his own counter boring tool, a feat that in itself is beyond he capability of we mortals. Keep up the great work! I know you both work very, very hard. I wish you continued exponential success with your business!
Love everything about these videos, the camerawork, the narration, the before and after shots, the out takes and of course, the dog 🐕. Thanks for sharing your expertise in this field.
They say in life that people tend to get animals that reflect or like to reflect their owners personalities or looks. Here their dog clearly reflects the owners personality & determination. "Big BALLS" because he tackles with great skills, jobs, few others would attempt. His partner behind the camera reflects the skills of a movie production team. Keep the vids coming!
You are absolutely the experts expert. As a paper mill millwright with over 29 years experience,I can really appreciate you fabrication skills, …… JOB WELL DONE ,MATE
Amazing ripper nose repair. We have a workshop that also does this kind of repairs. We are called ESP Cape Town (Equipment spare parts) south africa. Love to see broken stuff get repaired. Great video Kurtis
I am sure there are guys working at mines that get put on Air Arcing, welding and Hardfacing jobs 90% of the time and haven't developed your skill. And they wouldn't have any business touching a lathe or Milling machine. Your range of expertise is truly impressive. P.S. the cable on your Flame Cutting Carriage needs attention.
I was a field mechanic and had to do that to a ripper shank for a excavator. It was 2" thick and I had to stick weld it used 50 lbs of 1018 rod and took all night. I was just getting the blankets on when the crew showed up and wanted to use it I said not yet.. now I sit on my boat and watch you do it.
The combined efforts of you three remarkable people (Homie is a person too) results in a series of very entertaining and instructive videos. I bet the students of Manual Arts and Technical Colleges all around the world really enjoy your teaching videos. Cheers from Chiang Mai, 🇹🇭 where we have lots of Technical College students who really ought to notice your website/Channel.
Another well explained video on how and why you took specific steps on this job. Not to take money out of your pocket, but a fellow Australian, Demolition Dave Drilling and Blasting, on his TH-cam channel demonstrated breakup of rock at a distance from other building that I thought was unbelievable (blasting or using expanding gell).
Amazed that that weld joint will hold and you don’t need to replace the whole component. I have no doubt however that you know what you’re doing. As always great informative video. Thanks love your channel.
It's tough enough to know how to fix the broken stuff, without having to be an actor, too. You're somehow managing to get it all together, and the result is really helpful to those of us out there who can soak up the lessons. Yes, it's more professional to explain things without profanity, if you can manage that, too.
that massive drill press is amazing! I've never seen anything like it before. can you please explain a little about it in a future video? seriously impressive. homie is such a good boy.
I'm certainly glad that you re-posted this video as I missed it the first time. Incredible workmanship and skills shown throughout all of your videos by you and your Lady. Stay safe !!
I really appreciate your outtakes. Everything else looks so perfect and it's really refreshing to see all the work that goes into the polished presentation. Also they are often very funny. Thanks for the great content.
I watched this video twice in 6 months. Still just as impressed with the process second time around. The out takes are brilliant!! Narrating your videos/work must add substantial time😂
Friday morning (UK time) I wait in anticipation for your next video. Such an enjoyable watch each week. Thank you, Mrs Kurtis and the safety officer. Please keep them coming.
i’ve been going to school for welding for a few semesters and i’ve been watching these guys for almost the same amount of time and they’re doing pretty much exactly what i wanna do. if only i lived in Australia so i could apply for these guys! keep up the good work! thanks for the educational content! it’s helped me millions!
If you are not a ticketed tradesman they wouldnt hire you, these guys worked for 4 years as an apprentice, then time in the field before they got to where they are today, but keep going with learning at tech, it always comes in handy and to do it properly is a big bonus. Did you notice he is using LPG and Oxygen to cut the metal, so the cutting tip he is using is also different to a Oxygen and Acetylene cutting tip.
Acetylene burns hotter so it’s better for gas welding. But it’s expensive and needs suitable safety equipment. LPG cuts just as well on heavy metal and it’s safer to manage.
I honestly love these videos. Ive only been welding for 2 years (almost 3 now) and this motivates me to get to work everyday. I would love to work on some of the stuff you do and I have a strong passion for welding! Keep up the awesome videos! Love the pup by the way
Love your high standard of professionalism, workmanship and funny as “f*ck” sense of humor. Add that to excellent video production…and then there’s Homie🐶 Good on ya mate👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
_Hey Kurtis, I was noticing your purple straps near the weld at _*_18:42_**_._* 👀 _Nylon reflows at 516°F / 269°C. So I just want to make sure that your straps are not being compromised by the heat._ 🟪🔥🟪
Excellent work as always! Coming from fiddly little 6061 pieces with +/- .0001" factory automation work most of the time, I love the heavy, brute force nature of these machines and what it takes to keep them working!

Extreme profanity? Was that out of complaints by sensitive butthurt viewers or personal choice?
I couldn't give an actual number of passes. So could I just say a shitload of weld?

If I didn't see it I honestly would never have believed it was possible to cut so clean and precisely with a torch.
Just for fun and addition to the viewing pleasure, I suggest getting a FLIR temp camera to show how and where the metals are getting hot.

I must also say a word about the excellent photography. The angles and close-ups are always spot on. Good on her!
Even funnier the second time. No need to remove the grey words just make it for adults 😉😉 it adds to enjoyment esp in the bloopers ☺️😊😁
I'm a welder fabricator, and I think your good at explaining work process, and I will be watching alot more of your work
I enjoy watching Homeless interact with y’all, reminds me so much of mind before he passed. I also enjoy watching all the repairs and how you achieve each one plus your talent for this.
Thanks for uploading this video again. It's one of my favorites.
Gday Kurtis and Karen, I reckon when the tip breakers off it would go off with a bang, amazing how much punishment the tyne takes, the shop made counter bore tool works a treat, great video as always mate, thanks heaps, have a great weekend, Cheers
Shop made Countersink was bang on.He is one talented tradesman.
I'm 15 and I really enjoyed all of this. Thank you for sharing your trade skills and craftsmanship. :)
I’ve only did that once. A lot of work goes into that. Love to watch you work because you know what you’re doing and you’re good at it. I look forward to your videos.
Loved your use of CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) to shape the end of the ripper.
great material choice too ;)
Extremely impressive welding and machining skills, but also great videography and editing.
Классная работа, вообще прикольные у вас видосы с большим количеством сварки. Собачке привет. Лайк.
Another super heavy-duty job done beautifully! Thanks for the very detailed explanation of process. Every episode you do is an education!
Dam Kurtis, it's nice to see someone so good at what they do. Great camera and editing Karen and the best four leg friend Mr Homeless 😀 👍
Hey mate sure thing thanks for the suggestion 😎👍
Sitting here in my CEE hoodie enjoying another great episode, thanks for all the effort you 3 put in.
When you have the tools for the job and you know how to use them. Awesome stuff.
I'm certainly glad that you re-posted this video as I missed it the first time. Incredible workmanship and skills shown throughout all of your videos by you and your Lady. Stay safe !!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I've teared up ,been watching for 7 years, sensational crew , sensational channel thank you.
Отличная работа, у отличного специалиста широкого профиля.👍
I really appreciate your outtakes. Everything else looks so perfect and it's really refreshing to see all the work that goes into the polished presentation. Also they are often very funny. Thanks for the great content.
impressive to see the repair of the parts of the machines we use everyday on site, thanks for sharing your (great) work. Cheers.
I'm hooked on these videos. As an IT guy, (and not a welder), I appreciate all the descriptions on what you're doing at every step.
I watched this video twice in 6 months. Still just as impressed with the process second time around.
The out takes are brilliant!! Narrating your videos/work must add substantial time😂
Seeing how it was a great video, it’ll be worth watching again.
Enjoy your break Karen 👍. 🇬🇧🇦🇺
You are a very talented man Kurtis, Love all ya work and vids cheers man
Friday morning (UK time) I wait in anticipation for your next video. Such an enjoyable watch each week. Thank you, Mrs Kurtis and the safety officer. Please keep them coming.
Your video edit is amazing! So pleasant to watch. Thank you.
i’ve been going to school for welding for a few semesters and i’ve been watching these guys for almost the same amount of time and they’re doing pretty much exactly what i wanna do. if only i lived in Australia so i could apply for these guys! keep up the good work! thanks for the educational content! it’s helped me millions!
I thought Curtis worked alone?
Acetylene burns hotter so it’s better for gas welding. But it’s expensive and needs suitable safety equipment. LPG cuts just as well on heavy metal and it’s safer to manage.
I honestly love these videos. Ive only been welding for 2 years (almost 3 now) and this motivates me to get to work everyday. I would love to work on some of the stuff you do and I have a strong passion for welding! Keep up the awesome videos! Love the pup by the way
Awesome mate keep at it 😎👊
Really enjoy your vids! The quality of the shots, angles, slow motion, attention to detail never leaves me wanting. (The giggler) you rock!
Aussie laidback skills. Just so cathartic to watch...
I am blown away by you knowledge you have for your trade you will tackle anything your never crawfish just simply amazing what you can do
Love your high standard of professionalism, workmanship and funny as “f*ck” sense of humor. Add that to excellent video production…and then there’s Homie🐶
Good on ya mate👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
_Hey Kurtis, I was noticing your purple straps near the weld at _*_18:42_**_._* 👀
_Nylon reflows at 516°F / 269°C. So I just want to make sure that your straps are not being compromised by the heat._ 🟪🔥🟪
Excellent work as always! Coming from fiddly little 6061 pieces with +/- .0001" factory automation work most of the time, I love the heavy, brute force nature of these machines and what it takes to keep them working!
hell of a job, hell of a repair, hell of a drill press. congratulations on being the best
This job simply can’t be done without very good experience and proper equipment, another quality job cheers 👍🏻
