I’m really inspires by the surge of high quality romhacks in recent years. I want to learn too, do you recommend any resources to use for editing stuff like maps, game data, etc aside from the z64 decomp? (which I assume I’d modify to add new mechanics)
This is basically how I want a rougelite to be. There is so much getting added after each run that it never gets boring, and getting into new areas later on with items that you got over time completely scratches my exploration itch.

After seeing so many ambitious dreamlike projects for Ocarina get canned it's so nice to see modding for it suddenly and finally coming almost as far as Mario 64 has gotten recently. Really just still want like a playable version of triforce % and other rumor and beta stuff on top of vanilla though you know? I feel the sameway about Mario too. Also never thought now I'd see any cdi characters brought to life in other games like this amazing lol.
this is actually where recomp could come in clutch. if someone with the knowledge wanted to, they could get this into a working recomp without too much fuss.
Ship of Harkinian currently can't do new scenes, new resources etc easily. In that aspect it's very limited at the moment, and the devs are working on improving moddability. However, a new project called recomp allows you to recompile N64 games into PC Ports with much less effort than ever before and apply code patches too, so things like gyro, widescreen and free cam are all possible. The Ultimate Trial devs have expressed interest in recomp when the game is totally stable, but there is no official confirmation so far
I mentioned the whole Bruce Lee thing that Akels Le did before Vinny thought he read "Bruce Lee Porno". That was funny enough on its own but then a chat member posted "Enter the Dragon" in quotes and i lost my shit 😂 But anyway: for those that are curious: Akels Le did the voice for Bruce Lee for the pronotion of a game called Naraka Bladepoint. He did such a good job recreating Bruce's voice for it. Definitely go watch it.
Huge shoutouts to the composer of this romhack's soundtrack. The high quality custom music really strings together this game's unique, outstanding athmosphere. I've seen many high quality romhacks, the kind that otherwise feels like an official quality game, but then some stanky use of the game soundfont or some out-of-place music demake throws you off. Of course, the music readaptations are part of the charm of romhacks, often used to great effect. I know from experience how fun it is, to grab the Twilight music from Zelda off of SMWCentral and putting it in a ghost house mario level (that remix was insanely good!!). I'm just saying, going the extra mile really shows here. The music really flows with the soundfont, instead of fighting against it. And yet, it has a personality of its own, very different from the original soundtrack. It feels intriguing and surreal. You can tell the composer knows what they're doing. Bravo!
Justin Kuritzkes (potion seller guy) did write the screenplay for Challengers (according to Wikipedia). He also made a banger album "Songs About My Wife". I definitely recommend a listen.

Like you go through it but there is no solution and no way out, and after a set number of "wrong" turns the screen fades to black and the mod begins. You go through the challenge, prove yourself worthy ready to fight ganon and get spat back into the main game as if you solved the dumb lost woods puzzle

Really hope this is kept on the "down low" so Nintendo doesn't rip it down. They hate rom hacks. The issue is not flickering really but polygon stabilization. There's usually a geometry setting to fix that in PS1 emus.
I would love to see a part 2 of this. I know he is playing through a lot of games lately but dang this is awesome. If only I had one of Vinny's elusive Ultra Nintendo 64 DD that play these kind of rom ha-- I MEAN PARALLEL GAMES. Parallel universe games. Yes.
this would be amazing if you could play it like a dark souls DLC in the original game. Like, it's kind of hidden and optional but still makes sense in the logic of the game world
When I finished oot I would go up to the research tower at lake Hylia and shoot the birds from the top. No idea if it was possible on the 64, but the 3ds absolutely had the draw distance
45:10 Bars hardly ever use top-shelf stuff for their cocktail mixing, so the idea that the gin they used was of poor quality wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Some of the worst hangovers you'll get are from poorly distilled spirits. I do my own mixing and Tanquerey is my go to favorite gin. Very distinct green bottle.

It's not randomly generated or permadeath. You'll be sent back to the stronghold once you're defeated but it doesn't need to be a bad thing as you can buy more stuff. The only thing that's randomly generated are the waves in the Abyssal Arena
it's hades-like in a lot of ways and hades is a roguelite which makes it a roguelike which makes this a roguelike. now, this isn't actually a valid chain of logic, but if your main familiarity with the genre is hades, the confusion's understandable

Also also it's cool to see him get better, but he still REFUSES to target the Keese first in that Dodongo/Keese room and takes damage from them consistently, ah well. He's a professionally fun-to-watch gamer!

Some edibles every quarter year really turned me into a lightweight when it comes to alcohol, which is super interesting tbh I'd love to be part of a research on why this happens. A research spanning the world, not just the fucking US.

@@scrung Its a good start to join Hylian Modding on discord. I use blender and the plugin Fast64 to make models and animations
Saying "its like the pit of 100 trials from Paper Mario" is funny when there is a pit of trials IN the Zelda series, in Wind Waker.

Zeraphyr and Woon wrote the soundtrack, you can listen to it on Zeraphyr's youtube channel. hiisuya and I have 1-2 tracks each in the game as well.
