So my bf is a psychiatrist who worked on the Gold Coast until he found out he didn't want to spend his life prescribing Valium to bored rich women he wanted to help people so he started working for a hospital part time and running low to no income clinics. I met him because his train stop was two before mine and we just ended up on the same train several times a week. We hit it off and during Covid he got the opportunity to work on the border helping evaluate and inoculated and medically treat migrants. He gets a stipend and lives in a barracks and tries to send me some money to help with my guinea pigs each month. He's my hero. And I live for his visits home and his stories and I love seeing how happy he is and he's so poor. Where do these snail trails come from thinking they deserve everything handed to them and cheating people and just being dregs? And then whining about their lives because they get caught being disgusting? Again, live in the real world; pay some bills, hang out with some normal people. Sometimes I wonder how fucked up of a person I am. Making some horrible decisions and struggling with dark thoughts. But then watching people like boogie and reading comments like yours makes me wonder how people can live like someone like boogie. Nobody is perfect, but there are people who just are not, if you know what I mean.

The Gold Coast is such an odd place, on one hand you have super wealthy people, athletes, entrepreneurs, etc and then you have people living off government paycheques. i think your bf did a really good thing! its so hard to find a good psychiatrist when you are low income.

He could call me and say he'd be late because a patient needed time. He had an anorexic admitted to one of the clinics that was so distraught he spent four hours with her the night she was admitted to play chess and cards with her and just help her calm down. Like I said, he's my hero.
When I was little my mom told me the best time to ask my Dad for anything was during sex. Not the best advice I’d ever been given. I burst in through the bedroom door saying, ‘Can I have a new bike?’ He was very upset. His secretary was surprisingly nice about it. I got the bike.
