When I think of long-term food storage, I sure don't think of shrimp. Interesting ration though; looked tasty.

The smell is probably the saffron, which is a major spice used in paella (pie-aye-uh) and yes chicken stock is the base. Paella is really good and can be made with any meat or combination of meat and is on par with etouffeé with the primary difference being the saffron.
no heater included sounds nasty cold fish and sea cockroach, keep up the good reviews
Good looking ration, Nathan. I am looking forward, to trying, one of this type meals. They are more readily available now. I never tried any seafood or salmon ration, but I will. I may not like it, but, I will try. The jam, looks like more of A challenge for me, just because of the texture. Cool review, Peace, John. Stay safe.
It's probably saffron rice. That's what makes the rice yellow. It's good stuff. Looks yummy
Saffron in the paella is probably the flavor you don't recognize?

Nice of you to hide the extent of the content and not showing how good the heater is for us considering buying it. Google what a litre is in oz so you can give an accurate account of the drinks properties. Are you lazy or uninterested? Lastly, saffran rice is so well known in every continent I've been to... Compare your ignorance in regards to saffran to saying Italian pesto is a weird green oily gravy while having a food review channel...
